Dancing with the Stars, Season 7 (Fall 2008)

Why do you say that? They probably feel like it would cheapen their brand and they’re probably right. Do you really think that they’re going to get a bunch of reality tv fans to get interested in the NFL from seeing logos on DWTS? Sapp is retired anyway.

Flip side – will people stop watching the NFL if the brand is “tarnished” by such an association?

Specifically, probably not, but this isn’t a specific rule for the NFL, it’s a general one. They want to control where their brands are used so that they have more value. They charge a lot of money for licensing. The more exclusive, the more they can get away with charging.

Now that I’ve explained to you how why their policies are in place and how they increase their revenue, I ask you again, how are they “morons” for not allowing their logos to be used on DWTS?

You’re right and I’m wrong. Thank you so much for straightening my ass out.

HA! The Bog and I noted that, too, when watching. I agree with the other posters who think it has to do with $$$. The NFL probably wants a cha-ching every time they show something.

And I’d also note that the NFL has no need for addtional plugging. My whole reason for watching this season was to see Sapp dance. I’ve never watched before (other than passing clips of Emmitt). I’m an NFL fan who came to watch him. I doubt there will be dancing fans who opt to watch football because they see him, but one never knows!

Michael Flatley is from Chicago – what’s with the fake Irish accent?

The group dance was really, really quite bad. Are they usually so… That was not good.

I liked Lance once his solo was done. Susan doesn’t look smooth. It’s like she did one part. Then she does the next part. And then the next part. But it isn’t like a whole dance, it’s several small dance sections strung together.

Michael Flately was just too nice and never wanted to say anything. I’d rather just let Bruno and Carrie Ann argue more.

My goodness! Carrie Anne was blunt with Chloris. GOOD!

Yeah, except all her “dang I love that feisty old broad” fans are going to circle the wagons.

Let her go home now, please. As Carrie Anne said, at this point every week she stays, someone who actually can dance gets kicked off the show.

They generally start off really, really horrible, then slowly improve as the bad dancers get kicked off. (Note, they never get good, just better.)

Actually, it looked to me like she couldn’t remember the steps for most of it.

It’s the guest host curse - they all do that. I guess that they’re afraid of coming off as nasty when they only have one episode to make a good impression with the public.

btw…Carrie Ann made a passing reference to “flygirl” moves in the group hiphop number, so I looked her up: she was a Flygirl on “In Living Color”, 1990-92. (Of course, the most famous Flygirl alumna is Jennifer Lopez).

Wow. That completely changes my picture of her.

I have mostly been watching the actual dances on youtube after the show airs so I haven’t seen a lot of the practice montages and such, but has Cloris been such a pain in the ass the whole time? I watched the whole episode this time and I was really annoyed. I could understand people loving her if she was being a game ol’ broad who was doing her damndest to do well, but it sounds like she’s whiny and uncooperative, which is hardly the spirit in which this show is done. Or is this new, and she’s just tired out after all these weeks?

Her “participation” in the group dance was a disgrace, frankly. A lot of the moves were significantly less physically demanding than the regular dances, and she still did half of nothing and then stood in the background for the rest of the routine.

I watched the regular dances but left to walk to dog during the group dance. This looks like the end of the road for my Cloris. I gave her all of my votes last night.

The judges seem to finally be done with her. She should have gotten 6’s, not 5’s, but they want her to be gone.

Carrie Ann is the most useless and pointless judge in the history of television. She annoys me to no end.

Carrie Ann was also one of Madonna’s dancers back in the day – there is video of her, topless, shaved head, doing a pole dance. Seriously.

Has anyone else noticed that she does this Mary Murphy imitation, without the scream? I’ve always liked her but she’s getting on my nerves. Or was, till she gave it to Cloris straight last night.

The results show has aired on the East coast.

Thank god.

Thank God, this is *long *past due.

So it was Cloris who got kicked? My power was out last night.

I didn’t see it either, but given the reactions, I have to assume it was. Carrie Ann’s comments must have struck home with the audience.

Yup, our long national nightmare is over – Cloris is gone. I’m guessing Susan will be next, followed by, who, Maurice?

My pick for final three: Brooke, Lance, and Warren.
