Note, however, that posting lists like this can have the unintended and unfortunate side effect of alienating completely a large segment of the SDMB population.

That is indeed an unfortunate side effect, and I understand your point. However, I honestly feel there is no harm in sending a few kudos to people from time to time. It makes me feel good to give them, and I hope it makes them feel good to receive them.
Had I the gall to post a list of the meanspirited, nasty people on here, that would indeed alienate a lot of people, and they would all be perfectly justified in hanging me in effigy. But I did not, and I will not.
At any rate, if anyone is seriously offended by this sojourn into frivolity on my part, I do apologize. If you would care to discuss this issue in private, please email me.

But I still find that everyone I meet through the boards has their redeeming qualities. That’s what makes it so much fun to argue.
