missred, the favoured area is big enough for a big dog area, small dog area, and even a cantankerous dog area. all dogs should have a run around space. funding is going to be the big hurdle.
jtc, wow! that is crazy town.
we are in the cold in the office, cool outside season. today, both are under 70f. perhaps i’ll crawl into a bowl of soup…
Good morning. It was a nice, cool 63ºF this morning. Chloé and I were treated to a beautiful sunrise. Unfortunately, it was at it’s best when we got home, and were surrounded by trees. I told Mrs Magill about it, and she put on a robe and went to the back deck. She agreed that everything around the pin oak looked beautiful. This was the view from my driveway.
Of course not. You’re not in a residence hall common shower.
It reminds me of the one liner:
“I don’t understand why the guy at Home Depot was so upset with me. C’mon, everybody pees in the shower.”
Did you ever figure out what the purple bit was? Please share, so that future travesties cand be avoided.
About five minutes ago, I’d received my WPATH letter of recommendation for GAHT. It’s an entire document referring to me with my chosen name, “Ms. Magill,” and as she/her. Fuckin’ hell. This is real and happening. I don’t think I’ll be getting any work done between now and my endo appointment this afternoon.
The cantankerous enclosure made me chuckle, rocker. I’m just happy for your neighbor dogs.
My numbers are still heading in the right direction, so hopefully, I’ll be sprung soon.
I was surprised to meet my night nurse last night, Sister Joseph. I didn’t realize that nuns worked in public hospitals. The last time that one treated me was at St. Joseph’s, South Bend, years ago when I needed stitches. Regardless, she was attentive and sweet, so a good one as far as medical staff goes.
It’s 59F and sunny outside. Today’s expected high is 86F and it’ll be sunny all day.
JtC, wow, that’s just crazy. I’m glad you’re not part of the circus.
Mollie, yay for another step on the journey!
BooFae, I, too, mostly prefer cotton and linen, but I do have some synthetic tops. It’s super hard to find stuff (unless it’s a graphic tee) that’s not synthetic. I find that really annoying.
I am also not a big fan of splashy graphics, but I don’t mind tiny flowers. My favorite dress of all time is a dark blue one with pin dots. The dress fit perfectly when I was thin. It wasn’t tight, but it hugged my curves in just the right places and still looked classy. It was like it was tailor-made for me alone. I can’t describe it. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime perfect pieces of clothing. It still hangs in my closet because I just can’t force myself to toss it. I love it that much.
VanGo, I hope you get the eye situation sorted toute suite.
Red, I’m happy to read that all your numbers are trending in the right direction and I hope you’re sprung soon.
My middle sister called yesterday evening. She and my brother-in-law have hired a landscaper to manage my mother’s yard. We had a discussion a few weeks ago about my shouldering half the cost, which is more than fair. She called yesterday to inform me of my monthly share, and I think it’s reasonable. After that, we discussed other things, and then finally said goodbye. She’s a talker, and I am not. Still, I was polite and hung on for the duration of the conversation.
Yesterday’s activities included laundry, garden maintenance, and the usual tidying. I was supposed to hear from the company about the quote for my new slider, but I never heard anything. If I don’t hear anything by later this morning, I’ll contact them and ask what’s up. It could be something as simple as someone being out sick and not getting to it.
Mr. Taters and I have tentative plans for a drive and lunch out somewhere. I’m not sure yet where we’ll go.
Well, I better get going. You all take care of yourselves, please.
Good morning all. Have broken fast and am more or less aware of things, so guess I’ll start the day. First soccer practice of the season tonight with the 8-9 year olds, I actually have an Assistant Coach this year so that’ll be a big help. Outside of that not much on the schedule, probably a little less gym time as I’ll be out with the kids for about 90 minutes. Other than that not much planned.
Mollie, hopefully it was just one student with a sick sense of humor and they will stop doing it now that they have had their ‘moment of attention’, but if it continues then someone is going to need proper housebreaking…And another beautiful sunrise to start my day…thank you. Best of luck with the letter and the appointment.
Nettie, so say we all. My beef isn’t so much with tailgaters as Yanker’s 'gotta get
somewhere faster than you" types, watching them weaving among three lanes of traffic trying to get 30 seconds ahead just irks me no end. But them speeding up to my bumper can be…distracting…
boo fae, hope the gym class and the dinner planning goes well.
swampy, happy laundry day. Which reminds me, I need to organize my baskets, I try to keep my underwear, shirts, towels and other stuff in separate baskets and sometimes I forget which is which (or just pitch the clothes at them and hope I’m in the right basket).
FCM, my car posts the speed limits where I am at on my dashboard, but so far it has not lectured me on when I’m going to fast. There are schools all around me so I’ve had to re-train myself again to slow for them (the city police like to hang out there).
Yes, could you explain that a little more? Never had to water my foundation to the best of my memory. And nice to know Lucy’s a fairly special breed of dog…now you can tell the vet tech and trainer that.
Knots, I stick with Chocolate, Vanilla, and Butter Pecan and don’t experiment any more with ice cream, but certainly will not try any orange/purple ice cream in the future. And I did a little googling, you might have had a mangonada, which is:
Which doesn’t sound too appetizing to me…
red, hope to see your next posting from home.
Taters, glad you and sibling got it worked out for Mom.
And that’s all this morning. Need to type up the game schedules (at least the first 2 weeks that have been released) to distribute this evening. Have a good 2sday all.
Different color baskets? Or labels or colored tape to mark them?
Same on FCD’s - I’m amazed how quickly it will change when the speed limit changes. GPS is pretty impressive. I just have to monitor things the olden way.
BTW, I’ve never played any organized sport, so I’d like to learn - what exactly does a coach do? The ones on TV seem to just pace on the sidelines and yell a lot.
I managed to weed for around 90 minutes before it got too hot for me. Had it not been sunny in the yard, I’d have made it a bit longer, but I was smack-dab in the middle of the morning sun. However, between yesterday and today, I filled 3 anna half 5-gallon buckets with weeds and such. Plus today I transplanted a couple of plants in the hopes that they’ll take root. We shall see.
I’m now clean and in reasonable attire and about to make some lunch. Then, who knows? Plan for the kidlets, I guess.
After some threatening clouds this morning, we now have a “Simpson’s sky” and 74F.
We were supposed to go on an “outing” today, but have cancelled as usual. Just as well, as that van kills my back.
Eldest son will be visiting this afternoon and I’ll be writing a check for his college kid’s tuition. Even after getting all they could from grants, etc., this will still be a $7K check every semester (? not sure, maybe it’s for the year?) for the next four years (assuming the kid sticks with it). It’s a good use of the money, though. I’d rather invest in their futures than in some megacompany that I don’t care about.
Breakfast was poached eggs on toast. Somehow, when I ordered eggs from Amazon the last time, I didn’t notice that they were mediums instead of large. Good free-range eggs, though, although I think that’s mostly marketing BS.
Well, since these are 5-9 year old boys, there is a lot of yelling going on… But mostly it’s either teaching the basic skills (for the U7) or trying to get them to play as a team and actually play their positions (for the U10).
And caught a little bug on the computer, one of those that pop little notifications saying you have a virus or are infected and please press here or go to this page–but I am just smart enough to know a phising attempt when I see it so will reboot and see it they go away. Then go to the gym early for a few burned calories.
It seemed like it was smooth running…
J: “Maybe it will be a good day.”
Me: “Doubt it.”
J: “You gotta have hope!”
Me: “They can’t crush what you don’t have.”
And sure enough, as soon as the belts went off, the 300 Slide went from empty to 100% full in 3 minutes. So the Preload manager had to throw people at it to get it down. After that, I had to help load on the 100 North, to get the drivers out at a pseudo reasonable time. I stopped and bought an onion on the way home. Breakfast was a poke loin, egg, and cheese sandwich for me, and dry, flavorless bits for spot. Time to nap.
I wish Raleigh drivers wouldn’t cut through traffic. Yesterday I had a lady in an orange Jeep try to do a left turn across 5 lanes if traffic, and I had to stop in my lane since she had half the Jeep in the turn lane, and half in my lane. And today another car tried to gun it across from the Wells Fargo to the Teeter, and almost t-boned me.
For those who don’t know, Koeberg is our only nuclear power station, situated just outside Cape Town. The sardines are normally based in the sea, but having been afflicted with herpes (yes, that herpes, but the fish version - pilchard herpesvirus (PHV)) are dying en-masse and blocking the cooling water intakes.
That’s why we’ve paid for the preschool for our grands. It’s something over $1300/month, but thanks to the annuities our money guy put us in, we can afford it without a huge effect on our lifestyle. And both kids flourished there… well, Tobias will be there one more year, so flourishing continues. I also set aside my smaller 401k (also set up by our money guy) for their higher education. With luck, that account won’t crash and burn too badly before they finish high school.
I made some sugar-free gelatin and sugar-free pudding (3 different flavors.) FCD and I are trying to get back to eating well after a couple of months of, well, not. He regained almost 20# and I gaine 8# - dammit. A never ending struggle.
It’s 1:54pm, my next meeting isn’t for an hour, and once again I’m in a slacker mood, so…hi everyone!
The fall preview we got last night was wonderful: I slept with a bedroom window open for the first time since moving in (two months ago). I also opened the window in the 3rd bedroom for a cross-breeze. Before falling asleep I thought to myself, “Well, now is when I find out whether any of my neighbors are noisy on weekday mornings,” but it stayed blessedly quiet outside. It was a good sleep. I closed the windows when I woke up – an old habit from 13 years of living in single-level homes (where it isn’t safe to leave windows open when you aren’t home; not so much of an issue with third-floor windows!) – but I forgot to turn the a/c back on before I left for the office. It’s breezy and only 82°F this afternoon, so hopefully the upstairs won’t get too stuffy while I’m away. It will be cool again this evening, and I’m inclined to re-open windows vs turning the a/c back on…in which case I’ll open the sliding glass door next to the kitchen table while I build Lego. I might not be able to use the deck, but I can still get the air!
Speaking of the deck, I sent both inspection reports to my property manager last night and broke the “unsafe/do not use” news (and said that I understand this kind of work is expensive, but repeated that the deck was one of the reasons I chose the house). This morning he acknowledged receipt, and said he’ll discuss next steps with his parents and let me know what they say. So now I wait…
I have two more meetings today, but am hoping to get out of here at around 5pm. Traffic will be heavier that early, but when the weather’s this nice I roll the car windows down when I hit the stop-and-go part of I-495. (Well, I roll the driver’s-side window all the way down: the window on the passenger/traffic side just gets cracked enough to allow a breeze [I’m in the left lane].)
Hooray!!
Same! Even at work. In fact I’m wearing jeans and a polo right now.
Yay for cello! And it makes perfect sense to have kids learn how to play an instrument before having them play with others. I look forward to video of her first recital.
I think FCD half dreads it based on our experience with Daughter’s piano recitals (which dragged on for-freekin’-ever!!) But I’m thinking this will be more along the lines of school concerts - short and sweet and just a wee bit painful to discerning ears.
Roll-suckage has been accomplished, plus I cleaned some strawberries for the kids. In about an hour, I’ll get the table set, just so I’m not rushing around when they get here. We’ll have meatloaf, roasted (or air fried?) spud chunks, green beans, and the fruit. I may saute some mushrooms and onions together - any leftovers will go into an omelet or two later this week.
But till I have to start the meatloaf, I’ll chill a bit.
We also enjoyed the cool night and I went to sleep listening to the frogs
They increased my weight limit to a whooping THREE pounds and I got more compliments about how well my shoulder is moving.
I just butchered a chicken and tonight I’m making fried chicken and gravy in Dolly’s honor.I should be able to do almost everything myself, but Hubs will have to move the cornbread in and out of the oven.
I also wrote a check to the library but I won’t deliver it until I bring their food on Friday.
While I was getting tortured, Hubs rode his bike to the distillery without me. That makes me sad, I like chatting with Brenda and tasting her new flavors.
He got a sample pack of flavored shines for me to send to NF so that’s something I’ll also need to deal with this week as well.
