Paul in Saudi will be back in the DC area next week. Let’s have another Dopefest!
I PM’ed our ex-pat guest of honor, and he told me he will be in Maryland. He said he’s familiar with the Tyson’s Corner and Bethesda areas, and he thought the weekend of July 25 -27 would be good for him, although other dates might work for him.
I can’t make it Sunday the 27th, but either of the other days would be OK, with a personal preference for Saturday the 26th. Tyson’s is closer for me, but Bethesda is fine, too.
I’m in the DC area and I might be free that weekend, but I’m not sure how much awesome a 23-year old unemployed guy would bring to a Dopefest. Plus since I’ve only been on the site for a few months, I’m sure I’d be the butt of many hazing rituals you expert Dopers have noodled away in the back of your brain.
The Dopefest will be in a public place, so we’ll skip the hazing until we’re back on the boards. In other words, you can worry about the squid and the goat later.
And I don’t care how old you are, or what your employment status is, or how long you’ve been on the board, your Doper name is a big bucket of AWESOME! Please join us if you can, I’m sure you’ll fit right in.
Sounds fair to me. Would someone who is familiar with the Maryland side suggest a restaurant? Preferably one near Metro. Paul in Saudi said he knows the Bethesda area, so that might be a good place to start. I haven’t been there in a long time.
I hope I can make it. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially if it’s made during my daughter’s nap time. Though I can probably get away for a bit anyway. Bethesda works best for me.

I’m almost certain I’ll be free then, so I’ll try to make it if at all possible! Although I’m ashamed to admit I don’t have particularly good knowledge of the Maryland side of DC. I have a few friends who live in Silver Spring but that’s the extent of it. I’m good with directions though, so that’s a plus!
If I recall correctly, Paul’s going to be in Frederick. Something near to there would be most convenient for him, but I won’t speak for him.
As for us, we’re packing up to move on July 29 (this is why there’s no g-d party at my house this Spring, Wendell) and I don’t know if we can make it. Which would suck, because I loves me some Paul.

I just moved to Frederick and I’d love to go (I’ve never been to a Dopefest) but unfortunately I’m going to be at a conference in Philly that weekend. If you’re looking for restaurants in the Bethesda area, I can recommend Jaleo, which is a fun tapas bar. (I think tapas is a great party food, because it encourages sharing.)
If you guys want to meet Saturday lunch, I could make it; otherwise, no.
O.K., mischievous isn’t going to be available for Paul in Saudi’s Dopefest in any case, since he won’t be around that weekend, so we should go ahead with Typo Knig’s suggestion for Paul in Saudi’s Dopefest. If we want to do a Dopefest for mischievous, it would have to be a separate one. mischievous, could you suggest a date and time for your Dopefest? Jaleo is fine by me.
