Really? I asked the guy if I could see if my group was inside, and he told me I had to go to the end of the line anyway. I really wasn’t interested in waiting around when I needed a bathroom and to get off my feet so badly. Ah well.
Just got back a little while ago from the post-rally dopefest at RFD. I’m sorry you did not get in Bosstone. I got there late too, at 5pm, and had to stand in line. We also asked the door guy if we could go in and look for our party but he said no, but luckily we only had to stand in line for about 15 minutes and got in and met up with the group. Chinatown definitely was a complete madhouse, and the Metro was totally mobbed too. It was actually a miracle that the 10 of us who did make it to RFD, made it.
Also sorry we missed Boyo Jim! I hope you are feeling better soon, and hopefully you can come back to DC sometime in the future when it is not so mobbed!
There was also another Doper who tried but couldn’t make it… not sure who, but Chessic Sense talked to him, something about that he could not get into RFD because they were carding at the door and he is 20. I am really sorry about that! I wouldn’t have thought that they would be carding so early.
It was good seeing everyone else who was there: Larry Borgia, Mama Zappa, Typo Knig, TruCelt + Celtling, Wendell Wagner, & Chessic Sense.
d’oh! I posted this in a real hurry when I popped down to a Starbucks to see if anyone had posted this to the thread, and I saw Nyctea’s mention of the other bar. I meant to say that Nyctea knew my area code (same as hers), but the iPod autocorrected it to “muffed”, LOL!
Had a great time meeting those Dopers who were able to make it. What a zoo! Typo and I were the second and third to arrive there - saw Wendell who was actually the only face we’d have recognized. Enjoyed yakking with the rest of the crowd, including Chessic Sense’s two guests.
TruCelt / Wendell, you guys left waaaaay too much money! The total for the three of us (including my soup and 3 drinks) was only 42 bucks. Oh well. I tossed in 20 for my share and this meant the waiter got a huge tip for our part!!
Todderbob. It’s cool, though. We’re hitting up a party in Petworth right now. He’s supposed to show there. If anyone wants to meet up for that, put on a costume and PM me.
That’s what I figured you were trying to say!
It was fun meeting all the Dopers and friends! The line outside the restaurant was insane, and the metro was still crowded when we left just before 8. Fun time! We need to do this more often.
He’s not kidding about the Metro. It wasn’t helped by the fact that the line we needed (Yellow) was single-tracking and therefore running VERY sporadically, and that the first train we saw at Gallery Place had one car completely locked off and empty. We wound up riding one stop north, and waiting most of a half hour for a train to show at all.
We had a blast meeting everyone!
My lady and I tried to get downtown – but we got a late start, and waited at the Metro station for close to an hour, watching trains run full, slowly, and longer between the trains than normal. So we called it quits. Oh well, we tried.
I hope to see people at the next DopeFest.
If we’re going to meet at the next Dopefest, someone is going to have to organize a Dopefest.
Hey, Sane/Fearful Dopers - y’all set a record:
http://wjz.com/local/Metrorail.Stewart.Colbert.2.1989543.html
“Metro says 825,437 Metrorail trips were taken on Saturday, compared to average Saturday ridership of about 350,000.” Which smashed the previous Saturday record.
