I’m weary, but I’m also tired of being by myself. I’d really like to spend some time with friends. Is anyone in the DC area up for getting together tonight? I live in Reston, but I am able and willing to travel, within reason. I don’t have any specific ideas for what to do; I’d prefer something low-key, but other than that, I open for suggestions. Maybe just grab some dinner or coffee? Anyone?
Oh, and if anyone wants or needs to hold off on making the decision, drop me an email and I’ll send ya my cell number.
I’m up for it, depending on where it is . . . really anything with reasonable access to Metro is doable.
Metro is back up, right? I assume it is, but I just wanna be sure:)
as long as it’s not too far outside the Beltway. Something in DC or Alexandria would be good.
Leigh-Anne and I actually have plans for tonight–her boss’s band is playing at the Grog & Tankard in Georgetown, tonight. They’re starting around 9:00 or so, and playing until 11:30-ish. If anyone’s interested in meeting us there, we’d be happy to see you.
That would be a possibility.
2408 Wisconsin Ave. is the address; that’s ‘upper’ Georgetown, well above all the crowded townhouses.
The Post review says it’s got a good sound system, and basic bar-type food.
Personally (since I’m not much of a night owl) I’d prefer getting together for dinner a bit earlier, somewhere not too far away, then catching the early part of the show before heading home.
Any thoughts?
That’s a thought. Anyone know of a place to eat near there, particularly one that might have parking?
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it tonight. There is no parking in Georgetown really. There are places to park on the street (sometimes) and some parking garages that charge roughly about $10 for a stay of about two or three hours. The Saigon Inn is good Vietnamese food.
HUGS!

There’s an Austin Grill right next door to the club, if anyone wants to meet there for dinner? No parking there that I’m aware of, though, except for regular street parking.
Austin Grill sounds good to me. How does 7pm sound?
I’m doing their website for them, too, if you want to learn a wee bit more about the band.
That sounds FAB. See you then!
Hey, it’s my birthday today. I would love to get together with you guys. Since I live near Geobabe, it would be neat to gather nearer to her. I’m teetotal so I normally don’t go to bars.
I think you mean, tea-totaler, and you don’t have to drink alcohol to have fun; I usually only have one glass of wine or something because I’m a “light-weight,” right PLD?
Jomo Mojo, happy birthday, and I hope you can make it. I don’t drink either. I don’t know if I’ll go to the show at the Grog & Tankard, since I’m not feeling in much of a party mood, and I also have to work in the AM, but I’m definitely up for dinner with good company. I think 7 PM at the Austin Grill sounds like a pretty good plan, and those who do want to go to the show afterwards will be right there.
I was just there a week ago to see my ex-boyfriend’s band (the next to last before BF). I’ll try to make it, but I can’t promise.
From my boss:
In light of all that’s happened recently we thought very briefly about cancelling the show. But I got this email from someone who was in a similar situation (who shall remain nameless – James Lee Stanley) here’s what he had to say:
“The tradgedy is almost overwhelming. But when these cowards get you to stay home, change your life, and not celebrate it, they win. Is that what you want? For these slime buckets who would kill unarmed people when they aren’t looking to have their way in the world? All we can do in the face of this crap is to do business as usual and demonstrate with every step of our lives that they are the ones in hell, not us. Come to the show, laugh your ass off, have a good time, celebrate your life…it is too short to live it in fear.”
Think about it.
Nice post/sig combo, hon.
That is pretty funny. I’ll be heading out to meet y’all at Austin Grill in just a bit. Anybody else who feels like coming, show up!
I wish I had seen this thread before 7:45 yesterday evening
