DC Lunch Bunch

Hey you DC Dopers out there, any one up for lunch this Friday at noon? PLdennison, Sqrlcub, Montfort, Olenzero, anyone else? It seems like many of us work around McPherson Square, so that would probably be the best place to meet.

If you are interested, let me know.

I work between Farragut Square and Dupont Circle, but I meander my way down to McPhereson Square on occasion. So, yeah, count me in.

(As I soon as I click Submit Reply I’m going to think of a conflicting event.)

Works for me as I will most likely be there on Friday anyway. Sorry about today as I was caught in meetings or other type of work most of the morning and until now.

I can probably do McPherson. It’s only, what, 3 Metro stops from Courthouse? Just name a place and I can make it.

Let’s meet at noon at outside the Vermont Ave./White House exit across from Layfayette Park.

I guess we scared Olentzero away. Damn, we shouldn’t have kissed at the end of our last meal. He really does exist, everyone.

PS. Montfort, you will have to tell me some good places to play around town that will do a guitar/singer solo combo. I am not sure what there are out there that will support that type of folkesque genre. You heard the type of music I play and can probably tell me better than I have found myself.

Naw, I’m just jealous I didn’t get a peck on the cheek as well.

Friday at noon, White House exit of McPherson Square. I’ll be there. With my hair. Do you care?
sigh you can tell it’s quittin’ time.

Montfort, no talking about Anniz during lunch. I coulda given you a run for your money if I were still single. :stuck_out_tongue:

pout Right now I miss working on a Metro line…

Olentzero:

Wow, everyone I know these days wants me to talk about her, and why the hell I’m traveling to Sweden in November (“How cold is it there then? Does it snow?”). Now I found someone who doesn’t want me to talk about her. Fine. I can play by those rules.

I’ll have my hair there, too.

SqrlCub:

Actually, I don’t know of that many places. When my band started out, we were a lot folkier than we ended up being when we broke up (it’s amazing what adding a drummer to the mix does to a band’s sound…). Back then, I started scouting places to play, and the best I saw was the Iota Club in Virginia (near the Clarendon Metro). The Metro Cafe near Dupont Circle also seemed appealing, but I don’t know if they’d take a solo act.

By the way folks, SqrlCub is a great guitarist. I wasn’t really in a musical mode when we jammed the other night, and I was very impressed. And, now that I know about tone rows, the bass-playing world will never be the same again.

Tone rows are a lot of fun. On Friday when we talk, get me into twentieth century musical theory and we can have some wild discussions. Yes, I am a wild man. heheheh You may like the mystic scale too (6 note scale similar to the whole tone scale). Also, maybe some info on twentieth century tonal harmony/melody some of which make jazz chords seem completely basic.

PS. Thank you for complimenting my guitar playing. You are pretty good yourself.

So we have Sqrlcub, Monfort, Pldennison, Olentzer and myself. If anyone else is planning on coming to lunch, let us know so we wait for you!

There’s a slight chance I won’t make it. Work sort of blew up today, and I’ll either be stuck across McPhereson Square (at Vermont and L) or up in Frederick, MD at noon on Friday.

It’ll be tricky, but if I can convince the powers that be that I have enough on my plate for Friday at my normal office (near Dupont Circle), thus keeping me away from the evil that resides on Vermont Ave., and that I will make it up to Frederick over the weekend (I have to go there to setup a client’s home network – and I want to because it allows her to work from home to be with her husband, who is dying of brain cancer), I will be there.

(I’m tired. Grammar is not my friend right now.)

Anyway, if I can’t make it, I’ll try to post here as soon as I know. E-mail me if you want my cell phone number to find out if I’m going to make it if I don’t post, and I’m late.

I got a big meeting with a supervisor at 1, so I won’t be able to stay the whole time. If we’re able to stay near McPherson Square (and there are plenty of places to eat) I’d be obliged.

Sounds good to me. If the weather is good then perhaps we can try the burrito place you raved about, Olent.

I will still be there. I have little going on today, so I’m hopping on the Metro around 11:30-11:45 to get there by noon.

It’s a portable kiosk kind of thing. If you’re up for sitting out in McPherson Square while you nosh, let’s do it. If you wanna sit down at a table and eat, we should troll Vermont Ave. instead. But I guess we can take three to discuss it when we all meet. See you guys there!

I will be there.

I know the burrito trolley you speak of. Never ate his food, but there’s always a long line, so it’s gotta be good.

Dude, you’ve never eaten from Honest to Goodness Burritos? What the hell is wrong with you? Those things kick ass.

Anyway. See you all in 20.
