Dead Goats and Death-Defying Beaches - a Cretan MMP

(delurks now that I have internet at work)

Chili is in the crockpot for me and Sis, gonna have to whip up another pan of cornbread to go with (I have no idea why it gets eaten so darned fast).

Only 3 more days of grandparents staying at my house! I love them dearly, but Meme takes over my kitchen

Need to find reference pics for new carving piece…

And a windy soggy good morning to everybody! Why, yas, it is messy down here and fixin’ to be so for the next couple of days. I hope the cement pond doesn’t overflow before Mr. Anachi gets home.

bobbio, cool stitches.

picu, you are always welcome.

Anyhoo, very busy so…vrooooooommm!!!

Tupug

I grilled all by myself last night. (KT’s usually the one who gets to play with fire.) I did really well, too. I grilled chicken with the marinade below, broccolini, and some bake-at-home rolls. It was goooooooood.

Mrs. T’s marinade
(Mrs. T was a teacher with a really complicated last name so everyone just called her Mrs. T. No relation to Mr. T. :stuck_out_tongue: She gave Mom this recipe years ago, and it’s been our favorite marinade ever since.)
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp minced/powdered garlic
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp dried basil or oregano
dash pepper

Combine all ingredients. Allow chicken (or beef) to marinade for at least 4 hours or all day. Grill. Yum!

:runs through thread nekkid:

Sh*tty day at work - too complicated to explain, other than to say that someone senior to me (but not in my direct chain of command) is engaging in a little empire building and is using political points scoring at my expense as part of that process! Grrrrr!

Busy day here at work. In a couple of minutes, I have to head off to a briefing for my birth month annual review:rolleyes:. After that, I have a meeting to attend. Oh, and I think I have a meeting this afternoon as well.

In between, I’m supposed to be formatting a new Review and Analysis based on Balanced Score Card metrics, complete with color coded bubbles. The problem with that, is I can’t get a hold of the damn Balanced Score card. Arrrrghhh. I’ve got command group breathing down my neck to get it done, and I can’t even get the damn basic building block for it because people are not responding!

This is a hell of a way to spend my birthday.:frowning:

Morning Mumpers! I’m caffeinated, breakfasted(grilled cheese sandwich), and now it’s DOG PARK! time.

Happy Birthday, Taters!!!**
Sorry about that, Dotty. You should rent ninjas to rid yourself of the petty tyrant.

Welcome Arachne! I can has chilli? kthnxbye!

Yay for Nava!

Many happy returns of the day, Taters.
I am feeling righteous. I have placed my new vehicle tag on my car (deadline May 31), requested both my driver’s license renewal and my plate tag online (renewal deadlines July 12 and May 31).

Now, if I could only find my AA frequent flyer card, I’d be good.

Sorry, but I don’t have any pix of my scar. At least I can only assume there will be a scar - at this point it’s just a healing wound.

Not even two inches long, no stitches and the steri-strips came off on their own with one of the dressing changes. It’s not gross, but it is itchy now and then!

With the state of the economy, my clients are scarce and business is down dramatically. So, since I’ve been gone from here, we’ve been moving out of my shop gradually. It’s been a long, turmoil-filled process which I won’t go into here except to say that moving out has been an issue of severe lack of space on where to put everything. So, as a result, we had gotten everything out other than the major equipment by the end of the month last month (when my lease was actually up) but it was ok with my landlord for us to leave the big stuff there until it could be taken out. This is more difficult to explain than I originally figured. Anyways, I contacted someone about a month ago about coming to take the stuff to sell it on consignment. We were working on figuring out a time for them to come out. Until yesterday when somebody leased the shop and now we have to be out by tomorrow evening. I called the consignment people and she said, no problem, they would be out this afternoon with a truck to pick up everything.

This morning, about 10:30, she called and said that she talked to her husband and out of the 6 or 7 pieces that they were originally going to take, they have only decided to take ONE. And not only that, but they were just too busy to be bothered to come pick it up. If I wanted, however, I could bring it to there place any time I liked. WHAT? Who does this? Who waits until I have no options left and then decides to back out. What kind of way is that to run a business? What a ******* bitch.

So, now we have to figure out a way in about 30 hours to get rid of 3 very large and very heavy refrigerated prep tables, 1 convection oven, and one large worktable. I say that we should just take the tables and block in the entrance to her place of business. NO, I wouldn’t do that. It would be too much trouble lifting the damn things. They are so heavy that they take 3 people to lift them.

I feel I’ve reached the point now where I’m just rambling. I guess I’m done, but I just can’t understand how someone can run a business that way… Wish us lots of luck tomorrow.

ETA: Happy Birthday, Taters!

That really sucks. Now is when you find out who your true friends are - the ones that will help you rent a truck with a liftgate and help you wrestle the equipment out of the shop and take it somewhere to store.

Wish I could offer some assistance, but while my spine heals up, I’m not supposed to lift anything much heavier than a pie.

Any chance that the new tenant would have a use for the equipment and want to buy it?

Wait… did gotti just offer to go lift CutiePie?

Yeah, that’s a good idea, gotti. Actually, there were 8 or 9 pieces that the consignment people were going to take, but fortunately the new people bought the awesome Vulcan stove and the slicer. They already bought prep tables elsewhere, though.

Honestly I think I was in shock earlier when she called. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. TVMan and his assistant will be able to help move stuff. Hopefully some of my dad’s friends will be there too.

Happy Birthday, Taters!!!

Heh. I saw that too. I think he needs to pick a fluffier pie than this one.

Happy Birthday Taters!!

I’m outta here and we’re off to Seattle tomorrow! See y’all next week!

Have fun taxi!

Dindin was good! Grilled chicken, leftover baked N.O.T. and sallit. Not too shabby.

Nuttin’ else to report here. I’m still all, ummm… I don’t know what exactly. Not sick, just all bleah. I may just turn in early tonight.

Happy TaterDay!

Happy Taters Day!!

I found my sprayer and I sprayed 3 gallons of poison ivy defoliant - holy crap did I have a crop of the evil stuff! In a couple of weeks, if they’re still around, I’ll spray again. Afterwards, I mowed the front and back yards. Then we went out for Bad Chinese because after all that, I was tired.

Tomorrow is Dr. Day! I’ve got an appt at 8:30 for bloodwork and stuff. **FCD *is FINALLY going about his back - he hurt it on the 4th and apparently, it took till now for him to decide that he needed to get medical assistance. And since it was an on-the-job injury, therefore workman’s comp, instead of our $20 copay, he has to pay $150, then get that back from work. * grrrrrrr! But at least he’s finally going.

Is it Firday yet??

I just had a moment.

I’m making chicken fried steak for dinner, which brought up a memory of my sister and I making chicken fried steak for a crowd one day, which brought up memories of my mom. It’s Mom’s birthday today. She passed away in December of 1989. She would have been 77. Sis died in August of 1988.

They made great chicken fried steak.
