The day-after-mothers-day MMP

Get yer half-price Mother’s Day cards today! (Not nearly as much fun as the day-after-easter candy sales … )

I’m up stupid early because I crashed stupid early after irkedy-irk yesterday. Long shift, so I gave myself permission to eat crap from the freezer and ignore all necessary chores and go curl up with the cat. Told myself I’d get something accomplished in the middle of the night when I inevitably wake for a potty/smoke/snack bio break.

And I did, since now all the pets have been fed and watered, and I washed one (1) fork. Wheeee, go me.

Grump, grump, mump, grump. I need a day off, dammit.

checks schedule

:open_mouth:

Ooooh! Oooh! I have one (1) scheduled!

Sing it with me, mumpers. “Taaahhhh … MORROW! Taahhhmorrow! I luurrrves you! Tomorrow. You’re only a daaaayyyyyy uuuuuhhhhhh wwwwwaaaaayyyy!”

Your turn, kids. I’m going back to bed. Kitty is already curled up waiting for me. (Seriously, cat. Do you do ANYthing?)

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. Today we shall defilthyfy the place for the major activity. I shall also go pick up a script around noonish. Whilst out I think I shall run by the place of cheap soda and pick up some Diet Poopsi or Diet Coke, whichever is on sale. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. The excitatement that is our life knows no bounds!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Oh darn, swampie beat me to it!

But I do have good news, I got my stimulus check!

Afternoon, mumpers! I, along with a lot of other people, tuned in to BoJo the Clown’s message to the nation last night, just to see what he had to say for himself. Basically a whole lot of nothing. Pre-recorded statement that raised more questions than it answered, and he’s apparently done it as a recording so that he doesn’t have to face questions. Anyway, it goes through the House today and by Wednesday he’s expecting construction and manufacturing to have started up again (provided it’s safe) but doesn’t want us going to irk on public transport because that’s still Not A Good Thing. Bunch of other measures that make sense except they don’t, and free rein for the idiots who think the rules don’t apply to them.

Talking of irk, conga-rats on the new job, shoe! I missed that from last week, good to hear that you’ve secured something that suits you

Weekend was good, we rounded it off last night with an hour-long acoustic performance from the singer of a band we should have been seeing next weekend in Belfast for their album launch party. Still, better than nothing at all, and he did a really good job.

Back at irk for me, system access is fine, but folder access for our shared stuff is patchy. I have three separate workarounds for accessing stuff from our IT dept and it’s pot luck which one of them might work at any one time!

Lunchtime now though, I should go and forage in the fridge to see what Shadow would like to mug me for.

Not only half-priced cards - don’t forget slightly limp flowers! Meanwhile - drinks on Cupcakes!!!

Shortly after lunch, we’ll head up the road to Harford County as the first part of the journey towards no-more-back-pain! We’ll spend the night in a double bed (that’ll be cozy after our king) and get up at 4 in the AM so we can leave by 4:30 in the AM and get **FCD **to the hospital by 5:30 in the AM. By this time tomorrow, he should be under the knife…

We both need to pack. I’m hoping I’ll just be there till Weds, but I’m packing for 4 days, just in case. I need to remember my pillow wedge and the charger for my phone and tablet. And some Diet Coke, because Mom doesn’t keep sodas on hand. And some apples and oranges because she doesn’t typically keep fruit. The devil is in the details, right?

I’m going to strip the bed before we go, too - give it a couple of days to air out. Yep, it’ll be an exciting day here, and there.

Happy Moanday!!

ETA:  BoJo the Clown!!

Howdy. Awake but not at up and at ‘em yet. Got a little time to kill before we head off to the Vet. Hubs is going with to hold BuddyBoy in the car. I’m still sleepy.

Blurf

Morning all. Thought it had to be 7:30-8am but twas’ only 6am, so nappage is a possibility later on.

boofae, I thought for a moment that you were injecting US politics into the MMP, which we do try to avoid, but then I realized who Bojo was British Prime Minister BOris JOhnson so nevermind. Hope things go well.

shoe, nothing better than telling life to go to heck, I’m going back to bed. See ya a bit later.

FCM, if I don’t have the chance to say it later, my very best wishes for FCD and his back. May this be the operation that finally does it for him.

Butters, hope buddyboy does just fine at the vet.

65F today and no rain for the first half of the week. Am now preparing the weekly menu and ‘to-do’ list for this week. Pretty light so far.

Everybody take care now.

Happy Moonday!

It’s a cloudy 50 degrees outside, getting warmer!

Echo is outside and won’t come in. I think she is hoping Lily will show up. Ripple knows it’s not a playdate day.
I think Echo knows too, but hope springs eternal in her heart.
Brushing them is on the agenda for today, both have started shedding bad. Ripple’s undercoat is coming out by the handfuls. Echo is looking shabby but she hates to be brushed.
You may be right MetalMouse, that Ripple tries to break up the tension between Lily and Echo.

I woke up too early and couldn’t get back to sleep. I have clothes in the washer, and clothes in the dryer.
I’ve started making a list for the trip to the armpit next Moonday.
Somebody left a hat here at Thanksgiving. I’ll take the tuna and a can of Italian wedding soup (ick!), as well as the lime perrier I thought I’d try.
One of the advantage of having 4 boys in a house, no matter what it is, somebody will eat/drink it.
I have some books for the younger boys, and a quilt that needs to be washed.
It won’t fit in my washer, my mother’s washer is HUGE.
I may take my comforter too, may as well get it washed while I’m down there.

Since it looks to be nice out, I’ll try to get some yard irk in today.

Have a safe trip FCM, and I hope all goes well with FCD.
I’m sure it will.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Gordie got to bark at the golf cart, and Fluffy this morning. He is on hus post First Breakfast nap.

Showered and dressed. The bed is stripped. **FCD **is in the office for a bit. Kitchen is tidy. I guess I should pack.

Anxiety is climbing… <deep, calming breaths>

Echo finally came in. She just doesn’t know what to do with herself.

The sun came out and I thought good, I can irk outside.
Then it got all dark and windy and I thought, maybe I won’t irk outside.
Now the sun is out again.
I think I’ll stick to irking today and do yard irk tomorrow.

I think I posted in the wrong MMP thread this morning.
In my defense, who remembers what day it is anymore?

I’m packed. **FCD **just came in and he’ll pack next. I had to run a load in the washer - forgot to do it yesterday - but it’ll be done by noon.

We’re getting there.

It’s Monthurstoday the 44th, 202020. In the Month of the Murder Hornet.

No mothers here, so Mothers Day wen’t unobserved.

I made breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, toast for Mrs. L.A.), and went to town in the MG to get five pounds of bacon and five pounds of Tillamook medium cheddar. Mrs. L.A. accompanied me on one lap of the neighbourhood and park (⅔ mile), then I walked about a mile down the beach and back.

I took my Olympus 35RC with me, and exposed about 20 frames. The 35RC is an old camera that takes the now-banned 1.35v mercury batteries. I have a 1.5v battery in it, which throws off the metering. Loaded with ASA 400 film, I set the ASA rating to 250 to compensate and compared the reading against my Olympus OM-1 that had its meter recalibrated for a 1.5v battery. Also, it was a bright and sunny day so I applied the Sunny 16 Rule. I found that when the shutter was set to 1/500 second, the meter read f 16. So I think it’s set up for proper exposure. I’ll find out when I have the roll processed.

I used the camera to take a couple of snaps of Tonka this morning.

Went, not wen’t.

After reading Cecil’s interesting column on the imprisonment of young women in Ireland, I went looking for some of the works he referenced. One of them was a book called “Sex in a Cold Climate”. A search on Amazon didn’t bring the referenced work, but one of the books that it did bring up was entitled “There’s A Polar Vortex In My Butt And He Is Handsome”, by someone named Chuck Tingle. And no, I didn’t order it.

Just finished my irk budget. A shade under half a million. My finger is poised over the submit button but I just can’t make myself do it. I have until noon tomorrow. Lunch time, and I ate my chips and dessert BEFORE my salad…

We’re all set to go. Just waiting till we think it’s time.

Waiting sucks.

**FCD **was filling out some paperwork, including a list of who can pull the plug. It’s getting real. But gallows humor flourishes!

Yeah, I’m first on the list.

Good luck and healing thoughts to FCD!!
Hope all goes good for you guys MOM.
I will be thinking of y’all.
