Deadpool and Wolverine (new trailer in OP, open spoilers)

…Goro from Mortal Kombat?

ETA: Oh, it’s a Frazetta. The lack of lovingly drawn and perfectly sculpted buttcheeks threw me off.

I liked DP 1 and 2, and the Wolverine movie where he dies, but am not tuned into the MCU/Avengers/Xmen universes and plot lines at all, so could someone explain how the Tennessee Valley Authority comes to play such an important role in all this?

The TVA is the Time Variance Authority. They’re an agency that exists outside of linear time and seeks to prevent unauthorized meddling with the past. When they were first introduced in Loki their goal was to preserve one “sacred timeline” (I.e. the mainline MCU, Earth-199999) and destroy any timelines that branched off from it, but after the godlike being in charge was murdered by a female variant of Loki their mission changed somewhat.and they’re now OK with the existence of multiverses.

The whole thing was meant to lead into Kang the Conqueror being the Big Bad of Phase 4, but with Jonathan Majors turning out to be a sexual deviant they quietly dropped that storyline and we probably won’t be seeing them again after this.

I wouldn’t say “quietly dropped” is quite correct. They concluded the storyline in Loki instead of making it the next Avengers movie instead.

It’s a reference to a famous X-Men cover.

…Ummm… It was a domestic abuse conviction, IIRC.
