DeadPool - Redband trailer -

THis looks pretty hilarious - question is if it will actually get released this way?

I feel like these are all clips I have already seen, just rearranged.

Looks pretty good to me. Only thing is, will 20th Century Fox be able to pull it off? I really like Deadpool, so I’m hoping this doesn’t suck. Hell, even if it only sucks a little I’ll still be excited to see it.

I’ve read a bunch of Deadpool comics but I’ve never seen an answer to this question: if he has a healing factor that resurrects him from atoms and brings him back from the dead over and over, why does his skin look that way?

He got all skin-scrotumy before he got his healing factor so it’s locked in now…at least that’s what I recall from a YouTube video discussing it. And the guy doing it looked like a total geek, so it must be true.

It’s the same clip that got leaked a while back, but not shitty cam footage. I liked it, it gives the feeling that they “get it”. All it needed was some fourth wall breaking.

I am super excited for this film. My only concern is how well it be recieved with critics in regards to the rated R issue. I can just see alot of critics bashing it for being to hardcore and adult and therefore not family friendly. But if they would just stop and realize that not all superheroes are supposed to be family watchable.

Its rated R because in order for it do be done with any justice, it needs to be R. Deadpool isn’t Superman, he’s not the Fantastic Four. He’s edgy, crude and merciless and loves the fact that he is such. It’s not for kids!

He had cancer when the healing factor was grafted to him and it caused the cancer to mutate and spread randomly. In the comic books, he sometimes looks almost normal, sometimes incredibly hideous due to the cancer travelling at random through his body. It also drove him insane.

That’s been retconned recently - turns out, Deadpools been tracked for most of his life by a remnant of the Weapon X program that first gave him his powers, who have periodically kidnapped him to harvest his organs, and would regularly administer amnesiacs and implant false memories to keep him docile for these periods. The net effect of these treatments, repeated over and over, left him unable to tell what memories were real, versus implanted or dreamed up while he was under sedation, and was responsible for his general separation from reality.

He finally broke out during one of his internment periods, discovered that he was being held in a North Korea prison camp, and eviscerated the Dear Leader. But once he was no longer subject to random invasive medical procedures (and learned that he had a daughter), he started behaving much more rationally, and less like a cartoon. (“Much more rationally” being an extremely relative term, here.)

Of course, then they dropped an alternate planet Earth on his head and killed everyone in the Marvel universe for the new Secret Wars event, so who knows how much of that will stick when the Summer is over and they rebuild everything?

Didn’t they have him with scars on his face at one time?

Anyway, I know the cancer bit. It still doesn’t make sense. If he can perfectly reconstitute every cell of his body then either he can heal those cells or people should see them being healed and sickened in real time.

Yeah, I realize I’m complaining about magic healing power and magic cancer but usually they try to concoct an explanation for obviously stupid things they want to keep in the story despite the stupidity.

I feel like the dialogue was written by a bunch of 19 year old Maxim readers; not all that funny, and more just prurient. And I might be reaching my limit with wire fighting, and listening to Ryan Reynolds. Buuuut, some of the action set pieces look well done, and the last R-rated super hero movie I saw was “Kick Ass”, and that was awesome.

Avoid Kick-Ass 2.

I’m excited for the film. I liked the dog at the Green Lanturn.

My body is ready. I will be wearing my white pants.

I’m not part of the target audience for this film, (I know Deadpool is part of the X-Men universe) but any else get the feeling that 20 years ago this would have been a role Jim Carrey would have been cast in?

Some of the dialogue and poses give off a real ‘Mask’ vibe.

As a whole, it’s a fun trailer but the action looks pretty generic and the best part of it for me (coming up with similes for Deadpool’s appearance) won’t be enough to get me into a cinema to see it.

I’d say that Mother Russia makes it worth watching. Everything else is forgettable.

This.

I thought that the trailer tried waaayyyyy to hard, and therefore missed the mark.

I’m hoping another trailer happens so that I can judge a bit better…but for now…not a fan
