dedication or just sad?

We have a radio station that plays love songs with dedications every evenings. I don’t mind the music, but the dedications all seem to go like this:

I would like to request a song by Celine Dion for my honey bunch. We have known each other for three weeks and just had an argument. He/she is now seeing someone else, but I just want to tell him/her that I love him/her. I really miss you honey bunch and want us to always be together.

I just want to grab these people and tell em --get a life, this is borderline stalking. Who can know anyone after just a few weeks or even just a few months.

I know this may belong in the BBQ pit, but it is just a mini-rant while being just pointless stuff.

I agree with this completely. I’d also argue that you can’t fall in love with someone that you’ve never been with in real life. You might be able to grow to love someone after exchanging emails and whatnot, but actually being in love is something quite different. I think a lot of people who believe they’re in love with someone online have built up this whole image of who the other person is and are in reality in love with this image (this can also happen with people in real life, but it’s a lot more likely online). I say this having been completely guilty of having done this in the past.

But then, maybe i’m just a bit bitter.

zyzzyva, you are not alone, I think we have all been guilty of what I call “being in love with love”. This is different than actually loving someone enough to last thru whatever life throws the couple.

And no I do not think you are bitter, just that you are defining what love really means. There is someone out there for you.
