Deja Vu: A Frosh TMP

It’s almost Firday!!!

Okay, many hugs to Haze, and hopes that she’ll come back. I’ll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way.

Welcome back, Beebs!!! And kai, sorry for the dental pyrotechnics (heh, I’m sure that’s what it’s been feeling like)–at least you do have Tea there with you to soften your pain. Heh, glad to hear of your assessment of Palin - god trainwreck is the word! We don’t want her here, though!

Better get up and out - caffeination in progress, but want to get in to work early.

Ok, so I’m going to steal a few minutes here to tell my story of the last couple days. About 25 years ago TVMan fathered a child that he basically did not know existed. It’s a long story but TVMan’s mother basically threatened the girl that she should either get out of town or that the child would be taken away from her. So, having a large bark and an even larger bite, the girl left town with her son. Fast forward to a coincidental reconnection a couple of weeks ago and… We have their first meeting ever (that occured on Tuesday). See any familyresemblance?

I tried to post a couple of times yesterday evening, but everything timed out on me. Guys, it’s an upgrade. Supposed to be better. Anyway. Morning! Very little sleep! Awake!

Wow, Pie, how cool that they’ve gotten to meet!

Glad you’re doing better kai. Forgot to say earlier that I was sorry to hear about the crappy treatment. And what, no updated Tea pictures?

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebs!!!**

I’m up. Hopefully I’ll be awake soon, too.

Happy Thursday!!!

(waves hi)

I just went out in the rain to take some documents down to central printing. I had to go past the fruit and veg stall on the way. They have fresh figs today and now I’m drooling over the idea of baked figs with goat’s cheese. And I have no goat’s cheese.

Life is so unfair.

In other news, I’ve just booked a plane trip up over the Shetlands into the artic circle to (hopefully) see the Northern Lights!

Drive by… busybusybusy at work again…

Hi Beebs! Welcome back!! We missed you!!!

Good morning to all the early rising girls of the MMP. Obviously, you need something that can keep you in bed longer in the morning

OK, hello to you too, Boo :stuck_out_tongue:

Back to the salt mines… :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and survived my commute to work accident free! Gotta watch those road hazards between the kitchen and study!

I see my post finally went through last night. After three tries!!!

I wonder what thrills, blank pages and timeouts today will bring.

Ok, I know, quit bitchin’ and get to work!

Later Y’all!

Blurf. Mornin’, y’all.

Gotta get hurrycane supplies today: a new grill (gonna let the old one blow away), some lamp oil, maybe an extra lantern, and a round of batteries. We’re pretty well set for everything else.

Spaz, FCMom, and MomTigs are also in the line of fire. I’ll be around today, but expect not a lot of traffic until I get to Boston Sunday.

Good thoughts and prayers heading out for all of you… Stay safe.

GT

Best wishes and check with us when you can-

Y’know, as much as I like a good hurricane, I really don’t want this one to hit. Mainly because I have a metric assload of copying to do on the church collections and I was planning to do it over the weekend since I have to work anyway and there won’t be other people using the copier/printer.

Damn. It.

Oh well, I’m not working next weekend.

Also, Toy Roommate’s car lacks a window. We’re going to have to do something about that.

I was very grumpy about the third job training fiasco, so I sat down and watched The Dark Crystal. I heart that movie. I do not heart that it’s falling prey to sequel disease. JEN HEALED THE CRYSTAL. THE STORY IS OVER.

Related anecdote: when you go in the back entrance of the Smithsonian’s American History Museum, you are greeted by a Skeksi and a Mystic in a large glass case. Dorothy’s ruby slippers are right next to the original Muppets. More people were interested in the Muppets than the shoes last time I was there.

Bobbye Froggye just croaked. She says hello.

I can pretty well ga-RON-tee a good Fire Tale when it’s over.

Morning. Another day at work.

Stay safe, BBBobbio, Spaz, [n]MMMMoooomm!** and Tigs! Looks like I’ll just get rain.

Beebs!!! Welcome back, Mr. Resident Troublemaker!

:waves at kai:

Morning, BooFae! I’ve never had a fig, except in a Newton.

Doggie dude, admit it. You never missed me. We’ve been having fun over at FFF.

Now who wants to debate politics/religion/cats vs. dogs?

For the record, wombats beat them both… politics & religion.

Doggio, Newtons are the perfect place for some figs, but not all figs, some of 'em belong in my tum after they’ve been baked with goat’s cheese. Bah! Will have to stop off at Asdastan tonight and brave the multicultural shopping experience just for some cheese.

G’mornin’!

Hiya, beebs!

Two down. two to go… (until vacation.)

Don’t throw Pie, she’ll get bruises!
Haze, we’ll miss you. It’s shitty when a place/group that used to be… a source of goodness in one’s life goes the other way, dangit.
Colors are there but they aren’t working very well; I think some sort of popuppish part showing the colors is supposed to come up but it doesn’t, although I don’t get a pop-up warning either (plus the Dope is allowed to pop me up). Manually or semi they work, I think… testing, testing?
Yesterday one of my coworkers pointed out it was his and another coworker’s shared “birthday”: both joined my client company september 3rd, 1979. I felt so… young. I was 11 back then, the parents of several of the “kidlets” in my team hadn’t even met. I would’a taken myself out of the coworker’s lawn but didn’t see a way to do so mid-meeting. No, this wasn’t supposed to make sense, why?

Wow, lots to see in the TMP.

HurriDopers, stay safe! Prayers going up for all of you.
I’m bummed that Hazel is leaving - I’ve seen a lot of her posts around and when the free-to-post announcements came, I was happy that I’d maybe get to finally say hi to her and tell her that I liked her stuff. Alas… :frowning:

Hoping she’ll be back soon, and that things will go well for her.
Illegitmi non carborundum, Hazel.

Moving in to college…wow, that happened…a couple lifetimes or so ago. I don’t really remember anymore, except that i hated it, and my parents had a loft-bed they’d borrowed for me, so we put that together and set up stuff in my room.

Anyway, hi everybody and stuff.
<waving>

Argh. I need to figure out a way to gracefully tell the tutoring people that it’s not going to work out. I got a reply email from them this morning saying “oops, sorry we forgot to send out a follow-up telling people where the meeting was being held” (strike 1) “but we’re having another meeting today at 11 and next week at 2:30”

I’m working today at 11 and next week at 2:30 (strike 2).
They demand at least 24 hours notice of tutor’s schedule changes, yet feel it’s okay for them to give tutors less than eight hours notice of mandatory meetings. (Strike 3)

It would have been a nice way to earn some extra money and work with ESL students, but if this is the way they’re going to act, hell with it. I’ll see if the community college needs any tutors for their ESL students next semester.

At least this gives me more time to work on my thesis.
