Demo of a song I've just written

Apologies if this isn’t appropriate or interesting. I don’t have anyone to listen to my songs and it would just be nice to share something - even a dirty old demo recorded on my phone. Stars had to align just for that to happen, so obviously it’s quite rough.

This song is like a weird fever dream featuring Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Najwa Zebian. Lyrics are embedded in the MP3.

Anyway, here it is.

The player is showing a 0:00 length audio for me.

D’oh. Still learning how to use this board. I’ll try again:

Grr. The second time I tried I got this message:

An error occurred: Sorry, you can’t embed media items in a post.

I guess you can’t have mp3s here.

You have to host it elsewhere and link to it.

Yeah I was linking it from Dropbox. Strange.

If you right-click on the song in the OP and select “Copy audio address”, then open a new tab or window in your browser and paste the address in the address bar, you can play the song.

Nice song, by the way. Thanks for sharing it.

@engineer_comp_geek thanks for advising a workaround for others, and thanks for the feedback!

I liked it, but rather than Dylan or Sinatra(?) it immediately reminded me of Syd Barrett’s solo work:

Yeah that sound remarkably similar, actually. I’ll give the link a longer listen tomorrow. Fascinating.

Cool tune, but I’ve never been a fan of the Bob Dylan style of singing slightly off key.

I’d have put an intro in there, and maybe an instrumental break, but that would just be my meddling. Nice song.

ETA: The birds in the background were a little distracting at first, but they kind of blended in nice toward the end.

Thanks, scabpicker. It was one of my first times playing it through so obviously it lacks a lot of nuance. Just wanted something recorded to hear how it flows. I partially agree about the instrumental break, but I can’t think of where to put it where it wouldn’t disrupt the song. I don’t like adding things for the sake of it. Maybe it would change if I had a band or decent recording equipment so I could double track stuff.
