Desperate Housewives 1/4

I’m belatedly posting…

Typical Gabi–thinking of stuff and money. Predictable.
Susan and gay neighbor waking up together–did not expect that.
Edie’s crazy husband is even more overtly psychotic than before–getting creepier every time.
Loved the woman playing Bree’s soon-to-be in-law.

I enjoyed this episode. I actually kind of understood and sympathized with Gabi’s attitude. She did sacrifice quite a lot for 5 years for Carlos, and would have continued doing so had he remained blind. She figures it’s Carlos’s turn to sacrifice a little something in return. I’d never be in a marriage like that, but these two seem to crave and feed off of it, so most of the fun is seeing who’s going to get the upper hand this time, and how.

Edie finally did something right, but her reason was so bizarre and slim! Edie, Edie? cares if a man’s been married before? What?

I finally got to see the full episode of this season’s premier, wherein the fatal accident happened and it was quite clear that Crazy Dave’s wife blew into cross traffic because her stop sign was down, and Susan literally had no time to stop. It is the definition of an accident. I can’t see where either of them were “at fault”, so I don’t get Dave’s psychotic outrage at Susan or Susan’s overwhelming guilt for something she didn’t cause and couldn’t have prevented. I hope she gets over it soon and she and Mike get back together.

Lynnette is still a crappy mother, but I am enjoying watching all of her self-inflicted angst.

Neither overwhelming guilt or psychosis is particularly rational, though.

I used to like Tom and Lynette but I’m so sick of their stupid bratty kids that I’m tired of their storylines now.

I understand where Carlos is coming from but he likes the financial type work and, at high-six figures, he would probably be making more than 20x as much money than he would working at the community center. He could do more good by donating tons of money and volunteering on the weekends.

Can’t wait for the Dave storyline to wrap up. It’s actually not a bad storyline but it’s gone on way too long without anything happening.

Marcia Cross looked really pretty in this episode.

This really felt like a nothing episode. I didn’t care for Andrew’s partner’s mother, and I cared even less for Bree’s inability or unwillingness to invalidate her schoolyard “dibs” calling. Gabi’s back to being a whore (I really thought she’d back down after seeing how the boss-to-be’s wife reacted), and none of the running plots were really advanced at all.

I was surprised that Porter is hiding out with Lynette’s mother, and that she sounds so bitter, last I remember, she and Lynette were amicable and she was living with her gay ex-husband.

Noticed: Neither Katherine nor Mike appeared at all.

It’s hard to believe Andrew and his apparently successful doctor boyfriend can’t afford anything but an apartment, but Gabi and her poor struggling family still live in a McMansion.

Susan and the gay neighbor were the best part.

Bob: “When Lee gets a few drinks in him, he’ll bang anything with a pulse and facial hair.”
Gabi: “Bwah, ha, ha, ha!”

I too thought everything was settled. The don’t trust her, I did once and look where it got me, line makes me thing that in the 5 year jump Lynette put the old gal in a home.

“By the way, I’d love to have your husband on my team. He’d be making high 6 figures.”

Loved Gaby’s interaction with her son’s future MIL.

“I call Christmas.”

Doctors’ don’t turn them into millionaires overnight. Many doctors - and Andrew’s boyfriend looks pretty young - have very large school loans to pay off, and the startup costs of a medical practice aren’t tiny either.

Nitpick! Nitpick! That’s BREE’S interaction.

If it’s any excuse, I pictured the right character in my head.
