Desperate Housewives 5/15---spoilers

I didn’t see the thread, so here is one…

Things are hurtling towards the season finale. Carlos is in trouble with the law again, Gabi let him know he’s not necessarily the baby’s father, Susan found Mrs. Huber’s diary in Mike’s truck, Mike asked Susan to move in with him, her friends tried to stage an intervention but failed, Mike punched out Paul, Zach continues to break down, Lynnette sabotaged things for Tom at work to keep him from traveling and he lost his job, the pharmacist messed with Rex’s pills and Bree took her good old time getting him to the hospital after he had another attack.

Jump in. Add stuff. Speculate.

We lost about a minute, the first minute of the Bree and George scene at the grocery. Someone fill me in?

Yeah but Carlos now thinks that she lied to make him crazy, which is why he asked her to “lie” for him at trial.

The minute at the grocery store…Bree wondered why George was shopping there, since he lived across town. He said he was visiting a friend in the hospital, then went on to tell her Rex had told everyone at the hospital about their S&M games.

The new neighbor looks very intriguing! And I guess we assume Bree thought Rex was faking a heart attack, or she really is that diabolical? I’m waiting for her to take Rex’s medication to the hospital and for someone to realize the pills have been switched.

I think Mrs. Tillman is going to regret taking in Zach. That boy has serious anger management issues. And I’m glad Carlos is in jail. I’ve lost my last shred of sympathy for him.

I’m absolutely delighted to see Andre Woodard joining the cast. Maybe she’ll finally get the recognition she deserves and a part worthy of her talent.

Since Lynette was offered her old job back, and Tom lost his, this seems a perfect set-up for Lynette to go back to work and leave Tom at home to deal with the kids…

The trouble is, if Gabi “lies” about having an affair, Carlos can use that against her because of the post-nup he made her sign. So, Gabi will tell Carlos she’ll “lie” for him in court if he tears up the post-nup.

Would someone explain why the truth of whether or not Gabi was having an affair would be important to the legal proceedings against Carlos? I would think that all that would be relevant was whether Carlos believed she had an affair with the man he beat up, not whether she actually did (with him or anyone else). I can see the cops investigating whether or not Gabi had said anything that would reasonably make Carlos believe she’d had an affair, because that would be an important element in determining whether his intent was to bash the roommate because he was gay, but the actual truth as to Gabi’s actions doesn’t strike me as particularly relevant.

Am I missing something?

So lemme get this straight because I missed a bit due to a crying baby. Lynette was having lunch with some woman who she used to work for, and who wanted Lynette to come to work, but this was not at the firm where her husband works, even though it’s been established that Lynette met her husband and stole her from Annabelle when they were all working at the same firm?

Aaaaannnndddd-- I’d be really pissed if my wife did to me what Lynette did to her husband. PISSED!

Carlos tore up the post-nup.

If he’s convicted of a hate crime (because he has a history of beating up gay men), then that will have a much harsher punishment than if he’s convicted of assault.

:smack: That’s what I get for depending on the out-dated MeatRAM in my head.

I understand that part, and he’s dead meat on an assault charge regardless. I would think that the relevant factor leading to conviction or acquittal on the hate crime aspect would be whether Carlos believed the affair had occurred, not whether Gabi actually slept with another man. Why, from a legal aspect, would Carlos need Gabi to admit she’d had an affair? Wouldn’t having her admit she led him to think she’d had an affair be enough?

I came in late. Could someone answer a question for me? Was the house Edie was putting the sold sign on Carlos and Gabi’s or Paul’s house? It looked like she was putting it on C&G’s house but I wasn’t aware they were selling it. I thought Paul decided not to sell his and I didn’t think he lived right next door to C&G.

The SOLD sign was going up on the house of an old couple shown moving out at the beginning of the ep, moving because of all the mayhem that had hit the neighborhood in the last several months.

At the very beginning of the episode, another couple moved out of Wisteria Lane. Mary Alice commented that no one really noticed that they moved.

It might have been their house selling?

Lynette was having lunch with the boss’s wife. They’ve continued to remain chummy after she left to go be a SAHM. Lynette was asking if there were any jobs out there, and the boss’s wife, being clued in to the whole corporate networking structure, said that she knew of a perfect job for Lynette. Lynette said no, it was for Tom, but Tom doesn’t have the “shark” reputation that Lynette does. So Lynette suggested Annabelle, in an effort to separate her from Tom. Annabelle was offered the job, but her current employer promoted her to keep her. Tom was rightly pissed, because he’d asked for the job that was promised to Duggan before he had his heart attack, then he was told they were keeping it open for Duggan, and since he wasn’t coming back he thought he’d have a shot at it. Then he finds out Duggan’s promotion went to Annabelle. It’s only when he blew up at the boss that he learned of Lynette’s maneuvering behind his back.

I was really disappointed that they didn’t show Tom’s confrontation with Lynette. I would have been furious.

Were they working for the same firm? I thought they just worked in the same building.

I believe that the person with whom Lynette had lunch with in yesterday’s episode was an exec at a competing firm, possibly someone who used to work with Lynette. Lynette suggested Annabelle for the job to remove her from proximity to Tom, who will be even more pissed when he finds out this thing she’s done. (Basically, she seems to demonstrate no subtlety or ability at corporate politics, so how is it she was such a successful exec?)

I don’t think she just lacks subtlety and politicking. I think she’s dumb as a rock.

Correct. Annabelle got the promotion after she told her boss she was being recruited by a different firm.
