Rex Van DeKamp is back! Well, you know, “back” in the way that Mary Alice Young is always “there.”
And somebody else is pregnant.
Can’t wait to find out who…or, wait, it was in the preview, wasn’t it? Bree’s trampy daughter, right?
Yes, unless they’re trying to trick us by making it look like it’s so obviously that girl and then it ends up being someone else.
I liked the poker game scene. It’s so rare that they show all the husbands, fiances or boyfriends together.
I wasn’t too interested in the storyline with Gabi and the Sugar Daddy.
Great episode, I thought. Lynette waiting in her gown out in the middle of nowhere, being cut to the bone by freezing wind was just too hillarious!
Is this the first mention that Edie has a kid?
In the pilot episode, Mrs. Huber mentioned that she was babysitting Edie’s son overnight because Edie had a boyfriend staying late. As I recall, Mrs. Huber referred to the sleepover guy as a “gentleman caller” or something similar.
Who was Gaby’s date? He looked awfully familiar…I’m having a HITG! moment.
The actor’s name is John Slattery. He has done quite a few TV roles. I remembered him mainly from “Will & Grace,” in which he played Will’s older brother.
He was the congressman from Sex & The City who wanted to pee on Carrie.
How refreshing to see a poker game other than hold 'em on TV. Who knew anyone still plays 5-card draw?
Was anyone else amused that where MAVO always punctuates her VO with “Yes…” RVDKVO punctuates his with “No…” or am I an irredeemable geek for noticing?
Does anyone know if Rex replacing Mary Alice is permanent, or a gimmick for this
guy-centric episode only?
Gimmick only.
Yes, you are, but so am I.
Yep, and he must be married to Sela Ward because they were in Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights and a romantic Lifetime film together.
Oops! They must just be good friends. He’s married to Talia Balsam (George Clooney’s only wife so far.)
Oh, and what happened to make Lynette want to sleep with Tom after the romantic evening fiasco? I flipped away for a few minutes.
They’re sending the pregnant girl “to study abroad”? Do people still do that?
Lynette felt guilty over rejecting Tom’s romantic overtures after hearing Mrs. McCluskey talk of her romance-less marriage (her husband bought her appliances as anniversary gifts).
Apparentlt Bree and Orson do. It’s certainly within character for them, or at least for Bree.
Tom picked her up from the desolate road (“Wait until the kids hear you saw a real coyote!”) and took her to a diner. They yammered a bit and Tom said something like “I’ve learned my lesson, I’ll never do it again” and Lynette realized that the only thing worse than not going through the motions of keeping romance alive was not caring enough to go through the motions.
That was perfect. That was so completely in line with Bree’s sense of propriety and Orson’s desire to avoid mess.
I know Marcia Cross is on maternity leave, but yeesh…Bree’s not rushing home to take care of her (!) pregnant daughter! Or is Orson not saying anything until after they get back from their honeymoon?
No, after the revelation, Orson came back into the room (after calling Bree) and said he’d spoken to her and here’s the plan. Then he bundled Danielle up in the car and left for the airport…so she’s going to take care of Danielle at their honeymoon location before shipping her off to Europe or wherever. She’s barely pregnant…they could wait a few weeks before whisking her away, though they are probably afraid she’ll tell someone if she stays around much longer. So now Bree’s son (what IS his name?) gets the house to himself for a few weeks…hmmm, think he’ll behave?
