Detroit Red Wings fans will care

A friend of mine who had 3 tickets to the Red Wings intersquad “championship game” tonight at their training camp in Traverse City couldn’t go, so he GAVE me his tickets. They are very hard to come by, and cost about $20 each. So I went and took two of my bestest friends.

We were four rows back from the glass, and the action was fast and actually pretty intense. There’s a good mix of rookies and hangers-on trying desperately to make the team sprinkled in with the stars, which keeps the feistiness and competitive level high. There was even a fight between two Wings, 15 feet in front of us!

Wait … it gets better.

I bought five bucks worth of raffle tickets to benefit some local children’s ice-skating program, and I WON THE BIG PRIZE -
A large, framed, autographed Steve Yzerman jersey!!!

I couldn’t believe it. I whooped and hollered, and the whole section gave me a nice round of applause. My ticket was drawn out of at least hundreds, if not thousands. They said they were surprised I was actually at the scrimmage game, because they’d been selling tickets around town for several weeks. I was the first person in attendance to actually win their drawing since the Wings started training camp here three years ago.

That’s going to look SO nice in a place of prominence in my living room. And I’ve got to believe it’s already worth a lot - hell, a Wings jersey without an autograph costs $100 to $120. And Yzerman will make the Hall of Fame the first year he’s eligible.

So, all in all, it was not too shabby of a night for this Wing Nut.

you’re not worthy.

you should sent it to me

congrats dude.

I thought you were talking about eating menstruating vagina.
Yes, it’s good (for she & me)…beats hell outa any other sport…and it doesn’t cost a cent.
Tossa little vodka down there and you got a realBloody Mary. Sorry if this grosses some of you out…to each his own. Honestly, though, swimming the Red River ain’t bad at all. Don’t knock it unless you’ve tried it.
Believe me, the lady will love it!
Peace,
Tn*(Red Wings)hippie

Mmmmm…so, Milo, how YOU doin’? Can I touch it? NO! Not that!! The jersey!

Seriously, that is great. I’m not a Detroit fan (far from it–actually, more like an anti- Red Wings fan) but that is really cool! Take a pic and post it!

I was hoping you were responding to me!
You game? Name the time & place…but it has to be within
2 weeks.

Peace,
TN*hippie

Yzerman’s not only a great player, but he’s a class act!

I’m envious of you, and not only because Yzerman’s on my fantasy league team. (As are Shanahan and Federov. Looks like I’ll be rooting for the Red Wings this year.)

congratulations. i’m sure the shirt will look great in your living room. def. post a picture.

You lucky bastard. I was fortunate enough to attend a fan appreciation event for the Mighty Ducks (yeahyeah, I’m a Ducks’ fan…don’t go there) and I won a WildWing hand puppet.

soooooo…wanna swap?

That’s great Milo (jealous). I bet it will look great (very jealous) hanging on your wall. You forgot one important detail…who won the game?

The Red team (whose prominent players included Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan) beat the White team (whose prominent players included Sergei Fedorov, Martin LaPointe and Chris Chelios), 8-4.

No interest in swapping my prize for any of the fine items offered so far, thanks.

Most hearty congrats to you Milo!
I think it’s state law that MI residents must be Red Wings fans, isn’t it?

closest to a signed jersey we ever got was when my son was the top seller of candy bars (fund raiser - he sold somewhere around 800 - even tho’ I don’t work at a big factory or office, he really roller bladed door to door for 800 bars), and the prize was an autographed wrapper from one of the hockey players (don’t remember now).

BUT, since the group as a whole did so poorly in sales (group total was about 400 bars more than my son sold), they didn’t issue that prize and instead gave him the 4 pound piece of chocolate.

Don’t suppose you’d be willing to trade either the candy bar or my 16 year old, eh? No, didn’t think so.

I’m a Stars fan, but I must say I’m a bit envious. Yeah, I’m still pissed that the Wings knocked us out of the playoffs a couple of years ago, but I have nothing bad I can say about Yzerman. Damn it. Somebody get a jersey from seombody I don’t like so I can go off. I need to vent some steam. Anyway, congrat’s Milo.

I’m a HUGE Wings fan (Yzerman’s my favorite player!), and now I hate you. At first I was jealous because you got to see the game, but now that you won the big prize, you’re just evil.

As far as worth, the jersey alone, professional weight and with name/number is at least $170. The frame is worth $100 easy, and the autograph makes the whole package in the $600 area I think. It would look SO good in my living room.

Congrats, Milo, you evil SOB.

A friend of mine just told me they got $1,200 for a framed, autographed Shanahan All-Star jersey on E-bay.

But I’m not selling.

Well, when Stevie Y makes the Hall, maybe I’ll take a little peek at E-bay …

If you try to sell that thing then you will have to turn in your Red Wings fan license. (and turn over the jersey to me  )

Wow, that is way too cool. You definitely need to post a picture.

Congrats, Milo!

Anybody who associates the Red Wings with anything other than hockey, the NHL, and/or Detroit’s pride and joy, is just plain evil. It was on these very boards that I learned what the sick version of “red wings” meant.
-Shudder- Anyway…

Milo, you suck. No, actually, I suck, since I don’t have an autographed Yzerman jersey. :frowning:

Congratulations on your big win. Oh, and don’t ever sell it. Keep that treasure for yourself, or give it to me instead.

I really hate you.
