Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I have had 2 crashes while playing, but nothing like what Smapti is seeing.

While I have not used one yet, it is nice to see the multi-tool back.

Hopefully the spoilers in this thread will remain boxed, because I’m eyeing this game with interest.

One of the reviews I read said that the game gets way too easy way too quickly. If anybody could comment on the power curve (once they’ve gotten a ways in) I’d be interested in hearing opinions.

I’m a bit irritated at this bullshit with the consumables on the pre-order. In brief, without mentioning it to anybody, the pre-order bonus items in what was called the Covert Agent Pack would only apply to the first playthrough in which you used them – praxis points, ammo, ect. The non-consumables such as weapons or outfits would appear for each playthrough.

Here’s from their official statement:

I don’t know what the fuck “third party constraints” means. But the actual reason is clear. They have a shop where you can buy consumables with real cash money, and these apparently apply only to one playthrough. They didn’t announce anywhere that I saw that they would have a store featuring one-time cash purchases before the game was released, and I assume that was because it would have a depressive effect on pre-orders. Googling around, it seems that nobody knew about this before the game actually released. I’m guessing the reviewers weren’t given that option when they were allowed to play through, because nobody seemed to mention it.

I currently have 10 praxis points and can’t imagine paying cash money for more of them.

Having now completed the Ritual of Verifying the Cache, consulting the Tomes of Customer Support, and reciting the Litany of Frustration With This Damned Machine, I have learned that a lot of people were having this problem when they played the tutorial mini-games, and that skipping them prevents the glitches from happening.

Sure enough, I restarted, skipped the tutorials (which I didn’t really need anyway), and the missing walls were now intact.

All the usual SJW reviewers were hysterically angry about the story, so I of course bought it right away, and am enjoying it mostly. The performance is terrible though.

Does anyone understand how remote hacking is supposed to work? Because I do not get what I am supposed to do.

HAW HAW HAW

What a capital way to make buying decisions!

If I have to take sides, I’m with the SJWs. I can’t afford to buy everything the Legion of Douche gets douchey about, but it’s a factor in my buying decisions as well.

Sure. I admit that the hot bitter tears of MRA were a lovely seasoning to the awesomeness of Fury Road. But I certainly wouldn’t go see a movie just because MRAs were sad about it, if I didn’t otherwise really want to see it.

Yeah, I didn’t go see Ghostbusters because it didn’t look like the sort of movie I’d be into.

Also, this game has some… stability issues. I really love it, and it was totally stable until act 2. Now certain areas of the town sometimes get “corrupted” and if I go there the game will hard CTD. I can fix the area by going on the subway to another part of town (loooong loading times) and then coming back, but it’s only a temporary fix and eventually will be back to CTDing. It’s really killing my desire to finish the game, even though it looks like I’m almost done with all the second act sidequests.

Jim Sterling, of the Jimquisiton, who has made no bones about his, for want of a better phrase SJW credentials loved the game.

Why were they angry about the story? spoiler the answer if needed.

I haven’t played very far into the game yet, but I’m guessing the posters around Prague reading “AUG LIVES MATTER” and “ALL LIVES MATTER” ruffled some feathers.

The story tries to riff on Black lives matter, but it’s pretty clumsily done.

A few people online offered mild criticism.

That’s it.

That’s it? That’s it?! It was HYSTERICAL!!!

Though the developer has said that they made those assets before BLM was really a thing, who knows if they’re telling the truth (and whether they should’ve removed them after BLM became a thing is still a question).

I think it is easier to see the game more as a parallel to the persecution of Jews in WWII Europe than BLM. I mean a Prague ghetto called Golem?

There’s a minor character in Prague you can interact with on a sidequest who’s memorized R.U.R., which was also a nice little shout-out.

Measured criticism, which is what actually occured, is not HYSTERICAL!!!
