I’ll let someone else get the ball rolling, but I just wanted to start out by saying that I’m going to guess that Deb put the Xanax in her own water, knowing Dex would find it and turn in Hannah.
From the previews
I’m guessing Doakes shows up in Dexter’s head. If he’s not dead that makes the last half a season or so a total waste. Well, not a waste, but at least a lot of wasted time. Well, maybe not. Did they recover his body? If he made it out alive would he have really said “fuck this shit, I’m running away and starting a new life” or would he have come after Dexter and Pardon My Tits even harder. Now he has real evidence instead of just thinking something is off about Dexter and trying to figure it out.
It also means next season may be a wild goose chance between Doakes and Dexter and we already did that in Season 2.
Anyone else have any thoughts on that?
Oh and since the show is running again and the scene is on right now and it bugged the hell out of me the first time I saw it…
What horrible police work leaving LaGuerta in the container by herself without clearing it. They hadn’t checked the other side of the table, or under it, or behind the plastic, but they know for sure someone was in there already and had fired shots, but hey, you go on ahead, I’ll just put my gun and flashlight by my side and drop my guard while I think introspectively for a minute so the bad guy can jump out at me from any number of places.
At the very least they could have checked behind/under the table, looked behind the plastic and said “he’s already gone” and then done the introspectively thinking thing. Or even opened the container, saw nothing but the running chainsaw and said “I’ll have a couple of uniforms check this out, you go on ahead” and then done the thinking thing.
FTR, I’m not one to get all nitpicky about things like cops with their fingers on the triggers when they shouldn’t be (because they’re actors and haven’t been trained to handle a gun) or not following protocol to the letter or adjusting things to make them work on TV, but this just seemed like such a big oversight I actually assumed they were going somewhere with it. Maybe Dexter was going to drug her to get away or something along those lines.
I thought those containers only had one door? I realize it was open - but “yeah, we heard shots from over there where the guy was you wanted us to follow, but didn’t bother to do anything but stay way over here where it was safe and we couldnt see anything”
I thought it was odd (or oddly convienent) that he managed to untie the guy, rip down the pictures, clean up his stuff, start a cold chainsaw (unless he was smart enough to warm it up earlier) and clear out of there all before the cops made it from where ever they heard the shot to the actual container.
What did he mean when he said that LaGuerta did him a favor?
Well, they called LaGuerta when they heard the shot - they didn’t go to the container until she arrived - a good 10 - 15 minutes later one would think.
Dexter realized as soon as the bad guy said that LaGuerta was behind his release that it was a setup - in which case, you’d think they would have been watching the bad guy from the very moment he left prison and would have a number of incriminating shots of Dexter around - not to mention that he would have had to sign in at the hearing.
Maybe I don’t remember where one/other said anything about a favor.
I just watched the scene again. Either I misheard Dex saying something about a favor or it came before he found out LaGuearta pushed for Estrada’s parole. I didn’t look earlier then that. If it came before that point, it doesn’t have anything to do with what I was thinking. He didn’t say anything about a favor anywhere between finding out about LaGuerta setting him up and Estrada jumping into the water.
Why are they focusing on Deb drinking water so much?
Estrada is an obvious trap. Paging Admiral Ackbar…
Did they follow Dexter or Estrada?
Why did he leave the chainsaw running?
The police chief secretly knows about Dexter, is giving him a heads up, and is hoping Dex will get rid of LaGuerta.
Deb poisoned her own water.
Why is Dex ratting out Hannah when she can rat him out too?
Why didn’t Deb tell Hannah that the counselor was abusive? Why didn’t Dex tell Deb if Hannah was going to kill someone, it would be the witness and not Deb?
How many scenes in the preview will turn out to be Dexter daydreams?
You see Doakes in the previews for next week’s finale, but I’m convinced it’s just Dexter talking to the dead, like he does with Harry, and he’s done it a few times with the Ice Truck Killer.
Seems to me that Hannah can destroy Dexter so I too am puzzled as to why he ratted her out.
Please, someone kill off Quinn already. What a douche.
I would also agree Debb intentionally drank the water she herself poisoned - knowing Dexter would figure it out and to help him help her get rid of Hannah once and for all.
Hannah doesn’t really have any “proof” of Dexter’s deeds, so what can she say/do?
Dexter certainly has a lot of loose ends to tie up in the season finale next week - we’ll see how well he gets away with everything and what kind of a cliffhanger they leave us with until next season.
Errr…they caught him last episode, didn’t they. IIRC, Dexter was going to kill him, but decided he didn’t want to steal criminals from the police anymore, so called in an anonymous tip and arson guy was arrested.
I guess, though it seems pretty risky to total her car with herself inside it. And we see her take a pill. Kinda weird to dose yourself with the drug dissolved in water, and then add an extra pill on top of it.
We see her take a pill earlier in the night before planting the evidence @ LaGuarta’s.
Then the scene with Hannah - and she is drinking water at that time -
As for her thinking on it - she likely felt she had control over it - and better to take ‘sleepytime’ then ‘death time’ if you feel like its going to happen.
I think he’s just confirming to himself that LaGuerta set him up. Toward the beginning of the episode, after he finds out about the parole hearing, Hannah says “maybe it’s the universe giving you a Christmas present”.
So in the shipping container, he realizes LaGuerta set him up, and seeing Miami Metro arrive confirms it.
