Didn’t he mercy kill the dying fileclerk last season? Yeah, special case, but still, it was a non-code kill.
Well it was odd that his watch was taken. I guess it’s just so obvious that it’s Trinity, with a dash of make us think it might be Anton, that you have to think it can’t be either of those two. The only other dangling bad guy is the Vacation Killers.
There were no spoilers posted. There was a link to info about episode 408. Why would you follow a link to info about episode 408 if you are worried about spoilers?
The dialogue seemed to suggest it had to happen within a certain timeframe.
Definitely. It looked quite obviously orchestrated, especially with Trinity giving Lundy the big ol stare.
I don’t want to see either Deb or Lundy dead, but I will be very glad to see the end of their creepy love affair.
Nice twist! So Trinity is the consummate family man, huh? I guess his job allows him to travel and pursue his hobby - the American Dream!
LOL, so this is how Dexter learns how to reconcile the Dark Passenger with family, object lessons? I love the pacing of this season, it keeps throwing me off.
Three cheers for Deb’s spectacular parking lot break down, that actress just went WAY up in my estimation. Poor Deb, I hated Anton and was glad to see Lundy back but of course it couldn’t last.
I know that Dexter will eventually get himself out of that hole he’s digging with Rita but I’m genuinely curious at this point.
Batista! You can’t be leaving homicide! I hope this doesn’t mean that Batista is leaving the show. I like LaGuerta and all but I’d rather see her go than him. sniff
I thought her sobbing was pretty convincing too. The whole chopped up breathing, the loud moaning cry.
I guess we won’t be seeing Anton anymore, just like season 2’s workout/boxing guy fling she had.
What scared me the most was Trinity and the bludgeon victim. I was astonished at that scene, just like the first scene we saw with Trinity. It was truly creepy.
I think we should change the title to this thread to Dexter Season 4 and just use this for the whole season doesn’t look like too many people are watching this season.
Which is funny, because I read somewhere that the ratings for season 4 are the best yet.
What I love about this show is that it does have a gimmicky premise, but it grew into something so much more. It’s hasn’t lost anything since season 1 and in some ways has grown.
John Lithgow is creepy as hell.
Deb should move into Dexter’s old place. While Rita does have some valid points about Dexter, I find that she overreacts a little too much too quickly.
Which I think is a flaw in the writing - Rita has gone way over the top in her relationship with Dexter - I guess its a way to highlight Dexter’s attempt to balance his new relationship with his old one - but man have they made her a controlling harpy this season.
“You’ve not been the most attentive father and husband the past few weeks and we need to discuss whats wrong with you.”
Other than that, I love the twist with Trinity at the end - the revelation that he’s a deacon at his church might be a little much, but I think they must be using a little of the BTK as a model for him.
Lithgow is amazing - the change on his face as the elevator doors closed was frighteningly affective, not to mention the bludgeoning scene - he really hammered that point home.
“I got mine surgically removed, but to have it bitten off in the front seat of a buick…”
ARGH, people, if you’re going to talk about a new episode, either create a new thread or put spoiler warnings please.
I did NOT click on the link. I am referring to Bijou Drains’s post.
Discussion re 10/25 episode ahead:
-
Completely agree that the actress who plays Deb, Jennifer Carpenter, deserves kudos, and an Emmy nomination, for the parking lot scene. Bravo! BTW, she’s so much prettier this season with her hair cut shorter and a little bit of weight on her frame.
-
Did everyone know that Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) are married now? They got engaged last year and tied the knot on New Year’s Eve. (What what Freud would say? :))
-
Completely agree as well that John Lithgow is just creepy as hell. I love Jimmy Smits, but he doesn’t have the same menacing presence that Lithgow has. Trinity is comparable to the villain in “Heroes” on the creep-o-meter, IMO. I’m sure we’ll get to see more of Lithgow’s softer, charismatic side in upcoming episodes. His ability to switch personalities is just mind blowing.

I’m surprised Dexter was wandering through the building that has surveillance cameras. He’s usually so careful. Won’t they record him, and Trinity?
-
I was really suprised that Dexter just didn’t say, “I sub-leased it.” when pressed about his apartment. Barring that, I agree that he should just let Deb live there, especially since she asked flat out for it on another show. That’s one sweet apartment he has, with an ocean front view!
-
Having the Vacation Killer suspect die is too easy. I’m thinking that it’s very convenient to wrap up Lundy’s murder that easily. Hmmm.
-
So Trinity attacked the deli dude instead of the guard? Why in the world would a deli be open so late?
-
Love, love, love Dexter’s comedic voiceovers:
Rita: “I’d love to know what’s going on in that head of yours.”
Dexter: “I doubt it.”
Dexter: “Someone hurt my sister. I’m going to kill him, and I’m going to enjoy–”
Rita: (sitting on the bed in his apartment): “Hello.”
Dexter: “Uh oh.”
-
I agree that they’ve made Rita a demanding harpy this year. Let’s see, she’s got a nice home, a handsome husband with a stable job and health insurance, and she doesn’t have to work anymore. So we’re to believe that she’s going to dump him and go back to her crappy little life because he hasn’t been an “attentive father”?

I kind of wish they’d stop with the oblilgatory boob and sex scene every episode. At least with the death scenes, I know when they’re coming and can get the clicker ready to stop it if the kids walk in. Those sex scenes just pop up out of the blue, so I can never completely relax!
LaGuerta: I know everything.
Dexter: [I’m going to choose not to misinterpret that.]
From an earlier show, paraphrased:
Dexter: [Medical history. Well, let’s see, mother killed by chainsaw. Brother killed by… me.]
It’s the black comedy that keeps me coming back.
Let’s not make any hasty changes. I found the “pardon my tits” girl and the reporter to be valuable members of the cast.
See… we think Rita is being a demanding harpy because we know what Dexter is doing.
Look at things from Rita’s perspective.
Your new husband… who has a history of drug abuse(that’s what Rita thinks)… much like your previous husband (who Rita suspected Dexter may have had something to do with sending back to prison where he was killed)…who had an affair and broke up with you two years ago… kept his old apartment and has long periods of unaccounted for whereabouts… oh also you just saw him smash out your neighbors security lights.
Can you blame Rita for being a bit suspicious and demanding of Dexter?
The first place Dexter went in the building was to the security room - the recording disk had been ejected, presumably by Trinity - so nothing was being recorded.
Ah, thanks. Great security system.
We should’ve created a new thread for the new episode, but it’s proably late for that so we can do it next week I guess.
The scene with Trinity’s family was way too Brady Bunch. Who the hell really comes home to find their adoring wife and children spending some quality time together doing wholesome stuff in their living room? And they’re all ecstatic to see him and they’re probably writing essays on how to best help orphans and feed the hungry. Over the top.
Rita is overly demanding. Dexter has been nothing but good to her - he has been loving and patient with her, good with the kids - he’s never done anything to remotely hurt their family. So being suspicious of him is insulting.
…see my post above.
See my post below it!
I just disagree. Dexter should be given the benefit of the doubt because he’s never done anything remotely harmful to that family.
It’s funnier to realize that we think she’s a harpy when we know what he’s doing. Sheesh he’s only out stalking and murdering people from his secret lair. She needs to relax already.
Except keep secrets and lie alot.
She believes he was a drug addict. She KNOWS he drugged her ex and sent him back to jail. Recently he has been busted in several lies.
She was being stupid when she took him back. Not in mistrusting him now.
