So what’s the concensus? Noon at the ditch?
Noon at the ditch is the plan. Or at least, that’s the plan I’m following.
And Cheffie…I’m not saying that I’ve seen the carpet, but I’m not denying it either.
I sent a last call email for State Fair tickets so I hope we have enough.
Mtgman and his family have their tickets and they are meeting us at the fair.
That leaves free tickets for Chef Troy, Zyada, JimB, ExTank, PSiekier, and me. ExTank’s got dibs on my last two tickets for future dopers if no one else comes forward.
AdamYax, are you coming? Do you need me to get you a free pass? Let me know so I can get one before I leave work today.
I couldn’t get any children’s passes so Chef Jr. and the Mtgman’s kids (do we have internet names for the kids?) need to get tickets when they get there.
I’ll only need two tickets total (myself and a friend) since the other chickened out.
Thanks Grace!
That’s fine. I haven’t heard from Adam but I still picked up an extra ticket for him.
See y’all on Sunday.
I sorry gang, it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to make it to the fair. I’ve got some work that I have to get done today.
Y’all have fun.
Jim
11:45 a.m. Grace arrives!
That’s right folks. I arrived early. Who was there to see it? No one. I was the first one to arrive. To make the miracle of the state fair complete, Zyada was the next person to arrive.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to the fair. Mr. Grace didn’t go out of town after all and was doing that “clingy” thing. Even though we spent all day together yesterday and did everything he wanted, he didn’t want me to go to the fair. I figured I could go the fair and make him angry or I could go home and make him miserable all day. Guess which one I picked? I handed Zyada the tickets and went home.
At one point during the day, Mr. Grace was so miserable, he said I could probably still meet up with y’all at the fair. I assured him it was too late and then made him go look at furniture. Expensive furniture! Then we went to Best Buy and bought a DVD. He said buying a CD always cheers me up, but I couldn’t find anything I wanted so we got Memento. Then we came home and I ignored him by taking a nap.
I am such a bitch! And, right now, I’m pretty dang proud of it.
You go, girl! He’ll think twice next time he decides to screw with your plans!
Let’s see - Grace and I were early. psieker showed up next, then ExTank and his friend Justin. Then Grace had to leave because her husband is a putz. The rest of us checked out the Irish stuff store. BTW, all three of the guys had really nice asses (What you think I’m too old to notice?) We drove to the fair and wandered around looking for a place to park, then wandered around looking for tickets and food, then wandered around looking for MtgMan and his brood, then wandered around looking for Cheffie. A lot of wandering, eh? We finally got everyone together in the kiddie ride area next to a tilt-o-whirl with cars made to look like giant monkeys. All of the kids had to ride this - of course they couldn’t all realize this at the same time.
Then Cheffie, Cheffie Jr., psieker and I went on the Ferris Wheel while the others did something else. Then our original 4 headed back to the car by way of a odd musical group called the O’Brother Gang - it sounds like a shoot-out show, but it was some sort of country music - bluegrass, I think. Badly balanced - I saw two people singing but only heard one voice.
I enjoyed the day, except for Grace’s husband being a putz.
Ahem. Umm, no? We were already down 20+ bucks worth of coupons by that time. (not sure if the appropriate smilie is a or a
but the kids had fun). You should have called us and told us you were there, we could have hung out for a little bit. As an interesting side note, one of the songs the 12:30 act on the Big Tex stage was the old Scottish folk song that the author of the hymn “Amazing Grace” stole the music from, how appropriate would that have been :). It’s really a song about some lady’s pants if I heard the band leader correctly(speculation encouraged!). The group was playing traditional Scottish instruments(bagpipes, drums, etc) and were all in kilts. They were pretty good.

GAHH!! I hate this operating system! I hope Bill Gates gets reincarnated as one of Scylla’s sheep!

MtgMan - Grace was talking about the main group meeting at the ditch. Sadly, she didn’t make it near the fair.
