DFW Dopers and Naked Hopscotch: The Return

DFW Dopers, anybody interested in getting together again this month? I have no idea where to go or what to do, but hey, we can come up with something.

I missed Jim’s birthday and I owe him a beer. That sentence insures that he’ll be there, so who else? There’s plenty of Big Ag to go around(that’s what they call me down here because of my Hurculean might).

So, hit me with ideas, people. I can take it.

You know I’m there!

I can’t do anything this Saturday (performing again!) but other than that I’m free. Chef Troy mentioned at JimB’s birthday that he can come up with restaurant recommendations in Addison.

actually I mentioned that I can come up with restaurant suggestions east of 75, such as along Greenville avenue. Addison has one of everything, so recommendations are moot.

Hey, I’m in. Not only for the beer but I have a bit of a grudge against cows at the moment so a steak would be good, too. This weekend might be a little rough since I’m sharing vehicles because of the cow problem.

So, pick a place. I defer decisions to Zyada or anyone else.

Jim

Anybody have problems with the 21st? Beltline in Addison has everything you could ever want and then some. Come up with a food you like, and it’s there. If we want to something afterwards, the tollway is right there, or 75’s a bit east. How 'bout it?

Addison Suck…

Greenville Good!

Something about a town that has cops driving around in blazers and rodeo’s is just too much for me. I guess Addison has just left a piss poor taste in my mouth.

I did a date last week at On the Border off Marsh and Beltline…the girl was absolutely psycho, I went home hoping not to find boiled rabbit on my stove. I did City Streets, it reminded me of Wal-Mart lighting with music and a lame bar. I did Blackberries…so trendy it made the puke swell, although I will admit that I kinda like the house band.

I guess I’ve just never been shown a good time in Addison…but Greenville…now THAT is a place.

Monday - Jacks Pub
Tuesday - The Beagle
Wednesday - Flying Saucer
Thursday - Club Liquid

Wheeeeeeeee!!!

The rest of the week(end) is spent in Deep Ellum!

So what was the question again? Oh…does anyone have suggestions? Uhmm…I guess I don’t…sorry…

-SS

How about Knox-Henderson? Lots of restaurants and bars…

I thought we were going to try the El Arroyo off of Walnut Hill? Isn’t that the place that Chef Troy mentioned? He talked it up that I just figured that was going to be the next place we visited.

Anyhoo, I’m available on the 21st.

I should be able to make this one. I’ll let everyone else decide where, but here are some useful criteria to consider in selecting a gathering place:

1)Is it quiet enough to hear each other talk?
2)Are the staff very tolerant of strange laughing people with weird names?
3)Do they serve something potentially nourishing and/or intoxicating to carbon-based life forms? (Jim has to have his beer!)

How about a kegger over at Grace’s place? Woo-hoo!

I agree with SkySlash. (shudder) Addison DOES suck. And it isn’t even the enjoyable kind of sucking, either. If Addison were a woman, it would suck reluctantly and spit afterwards.

Now El Arroyo would be a GOOD idea. Great food, CHEAP. they have a patio if the weather’s warm enough. Best of all, it isn’t some corporate clone with no personality - The Ditch has character.

And if someone goes into a state of instantaneous arteriosclerosis, the hospital is just down the street. You want that kind of handy location in a Mexican restaurant.

I am ALWAYS up for El Arroyo. Where else do they have a combination platter that includes a beer? And you’re not allowed to order a light beer, either.

Maybe I’ll even bring Chef Jr., depending on the date and time…

goes off chanting, “ditch…ditch…ditch…ditch…”

Okay so that’s for JimB. What are the rest of us going to drink?  I’m not sure the little town of Frisco, TX is ready to host a Straight Dope gathering. They thought it was scandalous when Hooters came to town.

My vote is for El Arroyo. BTW, we’ve discussed boobs and butts at the gatherings. Start thinking about what body part we’re going to work into conversation.

A combination platter that comes with a beer?!?!?!?!?!?!

Sounds like this place rocks!

Oh yeah, and that was an excellent description of Addison, a reluctant sucker that spits when done…Rather, a reluctant sucker that demands a 3 second warning to remove herself from the vicinity during…well…the finishing…

And speaking of reluctance…if anyone was listening to 97.1 The Eagle this morning around 8:25AM…I was the guy that ripped American women a new asshole

I’d love to embellish at our little get together if everyone missed it.

-SS

Vaginas!!!

drools

-SS

I only caught the end of this segment. Something about barefoot and pregnant midwestern women…

I rarely listen to The Eagle. If I’m not listening to KSCS (country) then I listen to Russ Martin on the Talk that Rocks.

That was me…

The guy they called Ashton! Perry griped about barefoot women and I came back at her with typical American females attitude problems.

-SS

Yep, it’s called the “Federale Special.” The menu copy reads, “Did you ever see a skinny federale? This combo is why.”

It includes an enchilada, a tamale, a taco, a chalupa (choice of meat - beef, chicken, or BBQ chicken - on everything except the tamale), rice & beans, and a beer.

And it costs like eight bucks. Maybe less… I can’t remember.

El Arroyo is my favorite tex-mex place of all time.

El Arroyo sounds good to me. Just let me know exactly where it is. Any restaurant with a platter that includes beer is ok in my book.

It’s at 7402 Greenville Avenue, between Park Lane and Walnut Hill, on the east side of the road in a below-street-level strip center at Greenville and Pineland, the northeast corner. If you’re going north on Greenville you’ll see its green neon sign.

I’ve tried to link to a map and can’t get the blasted thing to work right. Zyada, honey, you know how to do it…would you oblige?
