DFW Dopers and Naked Hopscotch: The Return

El Arroyo Cafe

So what time should we get together? 6, 7? Any preferences? (How busy does this place get on a Saturday night?)

I take it we’ve decided on the 21st.

Wonder if they’ll let us play naked hopscotch.

Any time will be great for me, and if you guys want to do an afterparty, I’m on the guest list at a few clubs in Deep Ellum. Either way, I’ll be bidding my goodbyes and heading to Deep Ellum around 10:00 PM.

If you think you can party the way I do…you’re welcome to go my way

I party…cough…ahem…HARD

-SS

Okay so far we have:

Aglarond (who I think should buy us all a drink)
Zyada
JimB
Chef Troy (and maybe little Chef)
Grace
Balance
SkySlash
Adam Yax (are you coming?)

Hootee’s on vacation so I’ll ask her tomorrow if she can come.

Aren’t there some other DFW dopers who haven’t checked in? Who are we missing and I’ll see if I can find email address for those posters.

The Stars have a home game, but it is only the Kings. I think that I can make it. To El Arroyo that is…

Uh, Grace honey, I think you mean “maybe Chef Jr.” Little Chef goes with me everywhere IF you know what I mean and I think you do.

Earlier is better… El Arroyo does fill up on Saturdays. (Sundays, on the other hand, tend to be pretty empty…)

Bwahahahahaha!! I stand corrected Chef Troy. I will now refer to the little one (and by that I mean your son) as Chef Jr.

As big a hockey fan as I am, I’d be willing to miss the Kings for Zyada and Grace. And, I’m free all day Saturday. I have no life.

Wanna go to the State Fair?

WHAT a coincidence! Mrs. Chef and I are planning to take Chef Jr. to the fair that day.

maybe we can all carpool and save money on parking.

Or at least meet under Big Tex for a corny dog.

I’d love to go to the fair. I’ve never been and I’ve been meaning to do it the last few years. How much is admission? We get free tickets at work so I could probably scrounge up a few.

Of course, I don’t know for sure if I can go. I have plans that morning to take an old friend to lunch. So if we met it would have to be later in the afternoon.

This is easy. Take your friend to lunch…AT THE FAIR. Everybody loves corny dogs and turkey legs! There’s even a real restaurant on the fairgrounds - the Old Mill - if your friend is a fair-hatin’ fuddy-duddy.

I think admission is about $10 for adults…less for kids. And bring LOTS of money - you’ll burn through it.

Okay so far I’ve managed to find four adult tickets to the fair. I may have two more if my co-worker decides not to go this weekend.

The fair sounds like fun! I haven’t been since I drug my ex there the first year we dated. How are we going to meet?

The time-honored way is to pick a time and meet in front of Big Tex. I’m pretty easy to spot, so everyone could look for me…

Grace and Aglarond can meet up with the Chef family elsewhere (like the El Arroyo parking lot!) and ride with us if we can glom onto her other free tickets (wink, wink). We can play until dinnertime, and then head back to The Ditch for more fun - and most of us will already have parking spaces (in fact, if two of you park diagonally across three spaces there will be room for the Chefmobile too). I’m sure someone would be willing to give me a lift home at the end of the night if Mrs. Chef and Chef Jr. get tired and decide to skip the evening festivities, right? Right?

bumpity bump bump

i’ve never bothered to check-in… i vote for the Blue Goose [the original, on lowest greenville]

proly can’t make it… but i figured i might as well check in.

if you don’t believe i’m in dallas, ask me anything.

That’ll work for me. And if Grace will sit in my lap, I’ll buy my own ticket.

[dramatic sigh]I suppose if I have to, I can give Chef Troy a ride home.[/dramatic sigh]

Okay so did we decide on what time we’re meeting at El Arroyo for dinner? How about the fair? I guess we still have a little more time to get the details straightened out.

Palmyra, thanks for checking in. I think we already decided on El Arroyo but we’ll keep Blue Goose in mind for the next one. I’ve never been to the one on Greenville but the hub really likes it. They just opened up a Blue Goose in Plano and it’s really good. If you can work it, please join us at El Arroyo.

If I sit on your lap, neither of us will make it to the fair.

Grace said:

Well don’t do me no favors, honey. It’s not like I ever gave YOU a ride to a dopefest. Oh wait, it IS like that.

sassy wave-and-snap

and if you and aglarond go gettin the back seat of the chefmobile all sticky I will be UPSET.

(huh? I was talking about cotton candy. what did you THINK I was talking about?)

As for times, how about noonish at the El Arroyo parking lot to ride down to the fair, and sixish for dinner? That should give us plenty of time to throw away money at the fair, and hopefully the crowd at El Arroyo won’t be bad yet at six o’clock. (Maybe Jim can get there early and grab a table, and then get a head start on drinking all the beer in the place. )

Palmyra, the only things the Blue Goose has that El Arroyo doesn’t have are pretentious college students and higher prices. (El Arroyo gets the unpretentious college students.) Trust me.
