DFW Dopers... Yule Love It!

Sounds like a plan to me. We can discuss the details as the time approaches. ::Whispers in her ear, “Meep is a man.”:)::

Also, what should I bring? Food, beer (if so, what flavor?), liquor, ice… I am already prepared to bring a sense of humor, adventure, and camaraderie.

Over the hill and through the woods, of course. I have the directions that Troy emailed me. Do you want me to forward them to you?

Troy:

You can count me in for December 3rd. Your house was pretty hard to find, so could you (privately, of course) share an address or maps to get there?

I’ll bring a gift for the exchange, and, if I remember in time, a copy of Black Adder’s Christmas Carol.

I’ll be happy to send directions to anyone that needs 'em. Just e-mail me and I’ll reply with the turn-here-go-there.

Oh and Grace, the song says “over the RIVER and through the woods.” Did you grow up in Russia or something?

As for those of you who offered to bring something, we’ll be needing some shredded cheddar and some sour cream… I am happy to outsource that to you folks. How about Zyada brings the cheese, Grace brings the sour cream, Aglarond brings a bag of ice, Adam Yax brings the hannukah gelt, and Meephead brings Grace so the sour cream gets here?

And if anyone wants to make christmas cookies etc., that would be great too.

I’m so glad my masculinity is safe. Now I can concentrate on other things.

Grace, I can pick you up around noon, we should be able to make Chef’s by 6, … maybe.

I just happen to have about 3 pounds of chocolate chip cookie dough that I bought from one of the grandkids. I could try my hand at making up a batch of cookies. No guarantees though.

chef
how about the wee ones?
are they welcome?
or should i try to find some where to store them?
silly question dress code?
thanks for answering

Wee ones are welcome as long as they are housebroken. My own almost-seven-year-old will be there.

Dress code is ultra-casual. I personally plan to wear jeans and a sweatshirt.

Be sure to email me for directions.

No, but English isn’t my first language. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. :D**

Sour cream and Christmas cookies. Got it. I think I can do that and be there on time as long as Meep is in charge of the time.

So… since no one offered any other $ amount, might it be proper to assume that the price cap on the gifts is $20??

I’m a poor college student, it helps conserve my reserves to know how much I cannot spend. :stuck_out_tongue:

No problem… It will take us about 35-40 minutes to get there.

Tell me what time you want to arrive at Troy’s, and we’ll plan from there.

That sounds fair to me. What does everyone else think?

$20 sounds good to me, and if Chef Troy’s cooking, I think I’m gonna try to make it. I’ll even try to make it ON TIME this time.

Yes, $20 was about the figure I was thinking of.

The 9th or later is open for me; Saturdays are better than Sundays (I’d have to leave early enoug to get back into Little Rock by NLT 10PM, say around 5-6PM).

Catzpjs1 and myself, CatBiker, would like to know if we might join you for the get together. We can be in the Denton area about then on another matter we need to take care of and having met Lynn before at another get together I was hoping you might have room. Feel free to email or what ever in order to get acquainted.

Hey Cat -

We Dallas members of the Adams Family (I’m getting tired of referring to myself as a Doper - it’s misleading) are always glad to welcome far-flung fellow SDMB-ers to join us.

Just in case you were basing your availability on ExTank’s post, I want to make it clear that we’re now talking about Sunday, December 3rd (try to keep up, Tank old buddy…). As noted above, each person attending should bring a gift, either serious or gag, worth no more than $20, for the non-sectarian holiday gift exchange.

I do welcome the chance to get acquainted beforehand, of course…send me an e-mail at the address in my profile. You’ll be needing directions anyway.

How about we meet around 5 o’clock? I figure that’ll give us plenty of time to find each other and still get lost on the way to Troy’s. That’ll put us at his place before 6.

Since you’re coming from the Colony and I’m coming from Frisco, I say we meet somewhere at the new mall on 121. If that’s okay with you, just let me know exactly where you want to meet.

When I said I would help, I didn’t mean it. I was just being polite. Sheesh. Guess I’ll bring the ice then.

You guys missed me over the weekend, didn’t you?

What?! You were gone this weekend? Wow, I hadn’t noticed.

:frowning:

:stuck_out_tongue:
