Diablo 2 content patch next week

Got it. Now to see if it’s not too late. I’m in SDMB21 if anyone wants to come along. I don’t know yet if he’ll show. No SOJ or “Diablo walks the earth” messages yet. It might be too late, or not happening at all.

I think he was set to pick up too much stuff (maybe charms). It was one of those bot games where the bot is constantly running to town to visit a dealer… leaving the leachers high and dry for a minute or so. He ran back to town for some dealings with Malah, and while he was busy, I snagged it. I don’t feel bad about it.

I’ve sat in this game(SDMB21) for several hours, and a some time a new message came up. “12518 Stones of Jordan Sold to Merchants”.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the original numbers. But I’m leaving my guy in this game anyway. Come join me in the morning to see if the earth shakes when you enter the game.

What, nobody wants to play with me tonight? Y’all have dates or something better to do on a Friday night? Losers. There’s a 24%MF Gheeds on the ground. I guess I’ll wait until this game perms to see if I have a char without one.

Sorry, ended up playing a lot of fallout 3 this break… still looking for someone? What game?

Hey, about two years back I use to play all the time with a group of users from this message board, I had a mf Sorc and a Zealot (De-Dios). Are any of you here now the same users from back then? I recognize the accounts sonorhc and hirka for sure, I still remember Hirkas old acct password, which I won’t say in case it is the same haha. Any chance any of you remember me? My account is Ardillosito and I’m on USWest right now but if I’m remembered and welcome I’d definitely join another Realm.

Sure, we can always use more players. We’re all on East nowadays.

By the way, we really need a Dracul’s Grasp on the smiter, and preferably also a good Black (need a 3 socket flail/knout/scourge). Once we’ve got that, I think we’re probably ready to do Über runs any time we have at least three people on at once.

DeDios, of course I remember you! Everyone is on USEast right now, but I have hardly been playing. Oh, and my account is now hirkat; hirka account got closed. Also, changed the password  It is now the team account pass.

You can find everyone in the normal games, sdmb

If I were to switch servers do you guys have the same item base you did last ladder already? I would have nothing lol. So I could either learn how D2jsp works and get my gear sold and re-bought, or if I could get a rush and gear up a mf sorc decently I could take it up from there. Or a third option would be using the mf sorc you guys have already created and mf my own gears. Which of these is best you think?

We currently have an MF sorc, and she’s got pretty good equipment, but nobody seems to be playing her right now, so you could take over her easily enough. Gear-wise, we can comfortably equip pretty much any character with something that’ll work in Hell, but we don’t have any real über equipment (our best runeword right now is a Heart of the Oak, for instance). We’re almost ready to start Über-runs, at which point our wealth should probably start increasing significantly.

R, D, if you’re reading this, I got tempbanned. Apparently I tried to log in too many times in a row-- It keeps giving me a “cannot connect” error. I’ll try back in about ten minutes.

Reflections on todays’s Uber run:

All-in-all, despite all the planning, this run ended up being a clusterfuck.

Wow, that was tough. Lilith killed us several times. The next 2 weren’t too bad (why do we do them in reverse order of difficulty? BTW?), and Uber Tristam was a bitch. We all died, rejoined, and restrategized nearly 10 times. I lost most of the gold that I had on my entire account (I hope someone picked up the gold we left on the ground. Because I didn’t think about it until it would have long evaporated.) The Necro was useless against Pit Lords. My zon was more useless. Every Guided Arrow probably took 5% off of 1 Pit Lord’s life, and then I was constantly running for my life until I died. At one point my strategy became to lure the minions up to the top so that, after my zon inevitably got killed, she could leave the game and come back in to get her body with fewer minions near the portal to deal with.

After I brought my hammerdin back in, I watched my merc slowly but surely kill a Pit Lord. That’s because my merc does about 2.5x the dmg as my zon (with the help of Conc). Therefore, I submit that we use hammerdins with well-equiped mercs to deal with the Pit Lords.

The barb torch we got sucks. But we can put it on the shouts barb, and for the next run or 2 we bring him in to shout, and then he hands the torch off to whomever can best use the resists. Until we all have torches, why not?

The Fade strategy didn’t work well because, by the time the 2nd guy got faded, he had used all his pots because of lack of FR, and the 1st guys Fade was wearing off and I didn’t even get faded at all. (BTW, I need to get that Treachery back on my trapsin. I don’t even know who has it now.)

So, the next run will be better, as long as we use the experience* to come up with a better plan.

  • R
  • I’m talking about human experience, not char experience. Because all of our characters lost any exp towards the next lvl that they might have had.

The smiter currently has the Treachery. And it was poor planning on my part that the necro was taking so much damage while fading: I should have been standing next to him with Salvation. He was also a little too eager to drink potions, though: Fire does damage proportional to your life total, so the second half of your life bar goes much more slowly than the first half. When I’m fire-fading, I don’t drink a potion at all until I get down below 100 life.

Further thoughts:
The Fade was absolutely essential for the Smiter, at least. Without it, his resists were low enough that Meph could take him from full health to dead in a single hit. With Fade and Salvation, he was able to survive it.

I think mercenaries caused us more trouble than they solved. My working hypothesis for why Meph woke up so early is that one of the mercs wandered down south when we entered and got his attention.

Shouts would definitely help more than the amazon did. I was hoping that a zon would be the easiest way of killing pandemonium lords, but I’m beginning to think that there is no fast way of killing them, and that we should perhaps just avoid them. The barbarian has maxed-out Leap, which should be good enough crowd control, and leaving the barbarian in-game makes it easier to refresh shouts.

I’m thinking the best team for the next one might be smiter, barbarian, and hammerdin, with either the barb or the hammerdin carrying a wand with life tap charges. The smiter’s job is obvious; whoever has the wand starts by tapping whichever boss we’re fighting at the moment; the barbarian leaps in place repeatedly to knock everything away; and the the hammerdin kills non-pit-summons and helps take off the last sliver of life from the bosses.

Eventually, we’ll want to get the Smiter a Last Wish weapon and an Exile shield, which will have a few effects: First, that’s enough Life Tap proccing that we wouldn’t need to worry about the wand any more, and also an additional Fade proc. Second, the free Might and Defiance auras will help. Third, the Last Wish would be enough CB to free up one of his other items like his helm, to give him more resists or skills or something. But of course that’ll have to wait until we’re a bit richer, since those are 6 and 4 high runes, respectively.
Oh, and I can’t comment much about the Lilith fight, since I was hanging back out of sight range for that one. R or D, do either of you have any thoughts on how to do that one better? Again, of course, shouts would help, but anything else?

I don’t think I ever say Lilith. I was trying to put some hammers on some bad guys, which is kinda tough in those tight quarters. (Trying to do the ol’ “stand to the side of the doorway and fling them through the doorway” gimmick.) I died, and by the time I got back she was dead.

I apparently got tempbanned. Could you please pick up that Cryptic axe and the runes? Forget everything else.

Before I switched to East to play with you guys I experimented with a MapHack program, didn’t work, but my computer just now got the “AV Security Suite” virus and I fear it could be from the aforementioned hack. I’m nervous there could be a key logger with this annoying virus so Log on whenever you get this and change all the passwords to something different, please send me a private message on these boards with the new password.

Since C and R both use their own passwords which I am unaware of those should be fine, also Hirkat should be safe as well.

Double Post, I don’t know forum views on this but I find it very necessary here.

I’m on now, removed the virus completely, changing the passwords now. Log onto your accounts and I’ll whisper you what I’ve changed it to. Hirkat, if you could send me a personal message here or E-Mail @ Ardillosito@hotmail.com I’ll respond ASAP with your password to your account.

Sorry for this trouble guys but I’ve fixed it and I will NOT be messing around with hacks or exploits in the future.

I found another Skin of the Vipermagi, so I put that one back on Malleus_Dei, who wasn’t wearing any armor at all, so I don’t guess he’s been played in a while. I also put in his stash a white Akaran Targe with 45 to all resists. It only has a 40% CTB. Maybe that’s best for the smiter, but it’s on the hammerdin now.
We should schedule another Uber run.

I have a Nature’s Peace. What’s the best strategy for Nith runs when you have one of these?

After doing a few Nith runs with my hammerdin with NP, I think I can answer my own question. With NP on, it appears that monsters that YOU (not your merc) kill go up in a puff of red smoke like the Redemption aura, except no life or mana. This doesn’t happen to monsters you killed before swapping rings, nor does it seem to happen to guys your merc kills. Nith killed me one time and I think it was CE on a guy my merc had killed. It seems the best way is to run away from your merc and up to Nith and kill him and the guys around him before your tag-along little brother catches up.

That time Nith killed me? I got my body back, killed him, and got a double key drop.
