Not that anybody’s really missed me or anything, but that’s why I haven’t been posting. Or doing much of anything else.
My husband and I have networked PC’s and play almost every night.
I dunno Monster104, I’m finding that the Assasin Martial Arts skills are pretty good…I’ve been kicking butt all over our Normal level games. The character is only level 14, though, so does this effect peter out in Nightmare and Hell levels?
Anyway, we gots a level 32 amazon, a level 31 barb, a level 14 assassin, and a level 14 druid. On US West, that is. We also have characters in Europe and Asia2…I mean, gotta do SOMETHING when US West is down.
I can’t wait to get the expansion pack! That being said, am I the only one who plays multi on open b-net? I always like the fact that if nobody I knew was able to play, I could continue with the same character in a SP game. I also have heard much bitching and moaning about server lag and the like, and haven’t had any problems on an open b-net or a TCP/IP game.
One of the things fixed in the expansion is that the highest number of attacks you can get out of Zeal is 5, so if you buy it up past 4 (or buy it up to 4, then get a bunch of Skill bonus items), you start getting bonuses to hit. It’s no longer the player-killing skill it used to once was.
I just got the expansion…woohoo! I’ve only gotten the first two quests done w/ my paladin, but he’s cleaning up on Baal’s minions. The Zeal limitation kinda makes the 3 other points I pumped into it kinda useless, but oh well. It’s good I can run in big melee battles now.
Anyone know what order the Runes that you get from the 2nd quest can be put in for the awesome effect that was talked about?
Nope. From my experience in the bete stress test, enemies that were immune to magic were immune to ALL magic. Fire, Cold, Lighting, and Fire.
However, when an enemy becomes immune to both Magic and Physical, theoretically nothing should hurt it. However, with Iron Maiden (it doesn’t work with thorns, I tried), the enemy recieves a percentage of the damage it caused by attacking. This damage is neither physical or magical, it’s just damage. It is the only way to kill something immune to magic and physical.
Afraid I’m going to have to “nope” you back
I’ve run into Magic-immune creatures with my Charge Bolt sorceress, and she had no problem killing them. Lightning Immunity, she would have problems with. Magic immunity hasn’t slowed her down a bit.
In fact, I just took my Ice Sorceress (yeah, I bought into the whole “specialization” thing early on - now I’m suffering for it) into Hell difficulty to find one of those Horadric Mummies in Act II that SPOOFE mentioned, since they are Immune to Magic (we have to be sure about these things!). She had no trouble dropping it with Glacial Spike. Static Field (which is, of course, Lightning damage) also affected it fully. Apparently things worked differently in the beta, or perhaps just for the stress test?
You know, if you guys just post your IP addresses on here, then host an ‘Other Multiplayer’ TCP/IP game, other computers that are online can just join by putting in your IP address. That way, you guys dont have to bother with Battle.net and the hassle of finding the games, etc. You can use your single player characters, too. I played like that with a friend of mine in the same town. Lag wasnt too bad, better than Bnet. Dunno how it’d work over long distances, though.
I very recently taught Baal the error of his ways. Actually, the final set of his minions caused me far more grief than he ever could; it was the first time in the act my Barb ever had to actually run a chase to split up the pack and work on killing them off one at a time, and even then I had to keep popping back to town to refill the belt.
I might have been hallucinating, but I swear that their Boss fellow was named Lister. I was very worried that there would be a subsequent wave of them led by Rimmer.
I haven’t killed Baal yet (not for the lack of trying though). The throne room is TOUGH!!! A friend saw my equipment and laughed about my armour being named after me. I was hoping that having my armour scribed would give some benefit…nope. Can’t wait to get my Druid up high enough to go after Baal.
I posted this in the original Diablo expansion thread to no avail (pointed glance in Monster104’s and SPOOFE’s direction), but after you beat Diablo and return to the rogue encampment, are you met by, um, you know, that chick that says “Congratulations hero, you have defeated the three?”
The reason that I ask is that that’s my friend Aimee, who is currently poorer than dirt (assuming dirt can’t accumulate credit card debt), and maybe she can get a little extra something (like a copy of the expansion for myself, if nothing else :)) if they used her voice again.
Okay- so has anyone else been trying out the Druid class?
Right now, I’m experimenting with complete lycanthropy- ignoring all of the spells and the summoning in favor of creating a kick-ass beast form.
Any tips that can be given to me? I’m dithering as to whether the Wolf or Bear form is better… the Wolf is fast in running, throws out attacks quickly, and nearly always hits, but doesn’t have a lot of defense or life (though, I expect that the life-stealing Fury attack once I hit level 12 will abate that quite a bit). The Bear, OTOH, is pure tank- hits like hell and can take it, but moves like molasses in winter and if I wasn’t using a Fast class weapon, I’d never get a first strike in.
Personally, I prefer the Bear, especially in the hopes of getting to Level 24. While the Stun attack doesn’t do much damage, the thought of all my enemies on screen being stunned for 5 or more seconds… well, if it does work like I think it will, Act III will be a lot easier.
The problem I have with the druid comes on Hell mode where his skills just don’t scale up enough in the single player game. In the summoning tree the spirits and the vines continue to be useful everything else just gets slaughtered. In were-form the bear is just to slow and the wolf is just too weak. The main method of operation for the present seems to be Hurricane + Vine (health or mana) and the thorns spirit. Still only on act II and in desperate need of some better equipment (which may make the were forms more viable). (PS this is a test character that mas been mannually modified to test out the skill sets)
Oh well my (real) paladin rocks still.
Well, I killed Baal last weekend. He was tough! Weirdwitch, my L34 sorcerer must have died a dozen times defeating him, and she danced all over Diablo with golf shoes at L26. Baal just hits too damn hard, and due to a few mistakes late in Act V, I was tapped for $$ and couldn’t bring my Barbarian hireling with me. I had no problems with the minions-for the 1st 3 sets my barb stood toe to toe with them and frozen orb just mowed them down, it was over in seconds. Frozen orb also made the Secret Cow Level a piece of cake- and killing the weak Act 1 monsters while getting to Tristam was a blast-1 spell takes out all the minions AND the boss monster, hehe. Anyone wanna play an open b-net or TCP/IP game tonight?
I was lucky enough to have been a beta tester, so I’m tapped out on D2X for the moment. I still have a load of screenshots, including one I grabbed in which Flavie, the NPC that straddles the border between Blood Moor and Cold Plains, dies after being shot by a quill rat. Never did report that bug, so maybe you can try to replicate it
I started and deleted three different druids before I found one that works well. I found that Werewolves tended to be superior to Werebears, thanks to the Fury skill. For my char, lvl 53 by the time the beta ended, I had pumped Fury and Werewolf to lvl 20, Lycanthropy and Oak Sage to lvl 10, then spent what I could in the bear summoning. For a weapon I was using a unique executioner sword (Stormguard) and could dish out around 1100 dmg per hit.
I played just about every char variant imaginable, so if you need any gaming advice, give me a holler.
I, too, killed Baal in Normal last weekend, using my Charged-Bolt sorceress (currently has CB at level 13). Honestly, didn’t have much trouble (of course, having Thunderstorm at level 11 helped…a lot). The throne-room minions did chase her around a bit, but she finished them all off without a great deal of difficulty. Baal himself was annoying because of the mana-from-life curse, but with 40 points of regeneration, she only had to go sit in a corner for a few seconds before she was ready to dive back into the fray (before she found a Civerb’s Icon, she regenerated health faster than mana). Luckily, CB is cheap. She finished at Level 36 (though she had already completed about 2/3 of Act I, Nightmare before the expansion came out).
And she travels solo…no hirelings to slow her down, or drain her finances. She has no patience for those clumsy barbarians
I have an assassin that just finished Act II Normal, got to Act III and went to speak with Natalya after Hratli’s welcome. I was hoping that Natalya’s intro was changed to acknowledge the fellow assassin.
Well I’ve a couple 9th-10th level characters on US East and West and a bunch between 18-28 for open B net. If the SDMB games are still going on I’d love to go slaying with friends.
