…And, maybe I won’t be joining you’uns just yet, after all. The error messages are cryptic, but it looks like I maybe need to upgrade my OS before D3 will work now. It also looks like the game needs to run as administrator, which everyone ought to know by now is a terrible idea.
Hmmmmm… IDK what the problem could be. When D3 first came out I had to buy a better video card for my non-so-new low-end PC that I had bought from Best Buy a couple years prior. But the 2.0 patch hasn’t caused any problems.
Come on in, the water’s fine. Unfortunately, we can’t hook you up with great gear, because anything that is better than what you’ll eventually find yourself is Account Bound.
A word of warning regarding the new (2.0) set items.
I found another Natalya’s Reflection (ring) last night and swapped it out with my old Natalya’s Reflection, and it did NOT keep the 4 set bonus (+20 discipline) with my other 3 old (1.0) items (helm, cloak and boots). So I am assuming from here on out that you will not acquire the bonuses until you replace all set items for those particular bonuses.
I need to amend this. There are some good yellows that drop.
That’s old news. Natalya’s set hasn’t given a Discipline bonus for over a year now-- It’s only grandfathered in if you have a complete set from before the change.
After fighting with the authenticator for a couple hours, I’m finally able to log in.

I think I’ve only had the 4 piece set less than 6 months, unless the last item I got (can’t remember which one) has been around over a year and I picked it up on the AH (more than likely).
Wait, no, I misspoke-- The old set which is in demand gave discipline regeneration, not just +discipline.

Huh…didn’t know that. Then I do have the 1.04 version (+20 Discipline), BUT I guess the new 2.0 Natalya’s Reflection that I have is a completely different wrinkle then. I am able to wear both rings for the 4 set bonus, even though the 2.0 ring has better stats. Sometimes though I use the Hellfire ring for the Exp instead of the 2.0 ring and rotate the rings depending on which act and torment level I am in.
Yup - I just got a Cain’s Set plan so I can make my own, and it won’t mix and match with pre-2.0 items from the set.
FYI, unless you’re getting excellent DPS from your Hellfire, that might not be the best way to go. The experience bonus in Torment is pretty minimal. The 30% isn’t calculated at the end, it’s just added to the difficulty bonus. So Torment III give 550% XP, having a Hellfire on would make that 580%. That’s actually not that bad of a bonus - but at even higher Torment levels, you’re probably much better off going with something adding significant DPS to improve your kill rate. Same goes for the gem in your helm - either going with a diamond (cooldown) or amethyst (life%) will likely help. But if you’re killing through mobs easily with a Hellfire on, and you still don’t have the gear to increase difficulty level, stick with it - it certainly can’t hurt.

Alright, so I’m back in as well. Can’t remember my number tag, but I’m already in the SDMB clan as OftWearsHats.
I don’t remember getting my wiz up to 59, but that’s what she was at when I started back up on Tuesday. I also went from about 8k to 30k damage with a couple hours worth of drops. Can’t tell if I was just laughably poorly equipped before 2.0 or if the drops really are that much better.
I’ve only got the one wiz, but I’m also interested in creating a new character and starting from the beginning, if anyone else is game.

I’ll start a Crusader as well. But I do have a Cain’s Set (with sockets) that I’d be happy to lend you on your leveling. You can equip it at level 23.
I think I’ve got a Monk who’s only a level 9.
I have started a couple new characters in the past week, I have a lvl 30ish Barb and a level 9 Witch Doctor that I started. I never made them, figured this was a good time too.
