On tonight’s Jeopardy, one of the contestants, a middle aged woman, is wearing a hat, which I have never seen done before. Any other hat wearing Jeopardy constestants?
Can any of our Jeopardy veterans comment on the dress code that might have a bearing on this?
When I was on the show, they told us to wear dressy-casual clothes (no jeans or sneakers), and to avoid loud prints and other stuff that wouldn’t look good on camera. No guidelines at all about hats, as far as I can remember.
Let’s start with him being cocky as all get out. And then we can move on to the fact that he’s a lawyer; and not just any lawyer, but a corporate lawyer, which a) means he’s not as needful, financially, as are countless other Jeopardy! contestants, and therefore not as deserving of the prize money, and b) kind of points to his overall douchebagginess as a human being.
Oh yeah, and he’s also a movie producer. Could this guy be any less sympathetic?
OK, I might grant you b). But not a). Finances have nothing to do with it. It’s all about the thrill and challenge, and a chance to show your chops to the world. If all you wanted was the chance to score some dough, you’d head for WoF or TPiR instead.
What was with the lady’s coat? I thought she was wearing a man’s overcoat with her little hat–she looked like she’d just run to the store for a loaf of bread in the rain!
Though I’m not one much to negotiate fashion sense, I’d have to agree. The coat and hat looked like she was heading to the Kroger on the corner and got paid to be a contestant. Maybe somebody had an episode of stage fright and they had to get a replacement?
Oh, and she never *once *said ‘please’ after making her clue selections. So no manners on that one, which might explain the hat.
Maybe nana was just so worried that if she took off her hat and raincoat, some rapscallion from the audience would make off with her stash of pocket kleenex and hard candies.
And I don’t like Mario the lawyer-contestant, either. I liked Spicoli better. At least he had personality.
