Is there a dress code for Jeopardy contestants?

One of tonight’s contestants said she has always been a skinhead, and lifted the edge of her wig to show Alex. If she prefers the skinhead look, I was wondering if the Jeopardy producers prevailed on her to wear a wig. You rarely see contestants with extreme fashions either, like excessive piercings or tattoos, and guys with with long hair invariably have it pulled back in an unobtrusive ponytail.

Is there a dress code for Jeopardy contestants that extends to extreme hair styles, piercings and tattoos??

Thank god someone else saw this…I thought it very odd.

She then went on to say that she would prefer to never wear clothing, and was continuing to shed more things all the time.

Pretty funky, I thought, considering contestant’s on that show have always been relatively conservative, or so I thought.

When I was on the show I had dreadlocks, which the producers seemed to like. I wore them down, so I had long hair, just past the shoulder.

Basically, the dress code as I remember it was blazer, shirt, and tie for guys. Some people deviated from this if I remember correctly. There might have been one or two guys without a tie or wearing sweaters. The women all wore dresses.

I think their big concern is no crazy patterns (cross hatching and houndstooth) that don’t show up on camera. They tell you to wear certain stuff, but ultimately, if you’re clean and articulate, you’re golden, I would think.
