Did cecils comeback fade away?

hi, I was wondering because I haven’t seen anything new or an announcement …

His last post on June 8:

I have the distinct feeling he’s gone for good.

He’s probably been kidnapped by @Beckdawrek and is being held hostage in her root cellar.

Hey, we all have dreams.

Maybe we should call him out. Oh @Cecil_Adams where are you?

I suspect you are right.

One constant I see in successful YouTube channels and blog posts is consistency. There is a post on a schedule people can rely on. Without that people lose track and success seems to fade.

Just my $0.02

Dear Beck,

Do not post
On this board, and weep.
That Cecil’s not here,
Cecil is us, and that will keep.

He is the million things we know,
He is in all the quips we throw,
He is the soul of our community
He is the heart of the MMP.

When you log in every morning,
You don’t find Cecil scorning,
Your latest “But But But”—
He smiles kindly with nary a tut.

Do not post
On this board and and cry
That Cecil’s not here,
Cecil is us. He will not die.

(After “Immortality,” by Claire Horner, 1934.)

That’s kinda my feeling too.

Which is rather odd though, that He would make a big announcement for his comeback, including a bit of language to manage expectations, and then not say anything if it didn’t work out for whatever reason.

Nice one Spoons!

I’m beginning to think, and have heard it whispered, that maybe Cecil Adams never really existed at all; that perhaps his existence was a myth we were told in earlier, more innocent times, so that we didn’t think of the world as this horrible place filled with ignorance.

If anyone wants to reassure me otherwise, please, do so…

“Yes, solost, there is a Cecil Adams. He exists as certainly as knowledge and clarity exists, and ignorance is fought, and you know that these things abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.”

Fingers in ears.

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah.

Cecil is Santa Claus?

Nah, I’ve talked to Cecil. Cecil exists.

Lovely.

Where have you gone, Cecil Adams?

Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Maybe the real Cecil Adams was the friends we made along the way.

“It’s better to burn out, than fade away.”

Maybe he’s gone into hiding, in the jungles of Cambodia, to train for a big come back. Another famous person is doing that, right?

Maybe he’s making more money with an Onlyfans account than the Chicago Reader ever paid him.

The SDMB is the Only Fan account he needs!
