I’m so impressed by how above it all you are.
I doubt it was the work of some lowly staffer.

OMG! I just realized. The letter addresses a bill introduced by Tom Ammiano – as in, T.
And Mr. Ammiano is a gay politician, so the “A” remark is clearly a homophobic smear!!11!
Okay, now that’s pushing it. But I still think it was intentional.
Awesome.
Immature, but awesome.
Or a Jar-Jar Binks fan: “I FUCK YOUSA”
Eh?
“Overwhelmingly deserve” seems off to. I guess maybe you could chalk it up to his having English as a second language (assuming it was written by Ahnuld himself), but it being an intentional insult seems a lot more likely.
Is funny, but the fact that the governor and the legislature have been reduced to sending insults via hidden messages to each other probably doesn’t bode well for CA being able to overcome its current difficulties.
Of course it was intentional and hilarious. It’s also unprofessional and he probably shouldn’t have done it. It’s still really funny. From what I know about Arnie, this fits in well with his sense of humor. Mr. Ammiano sounds like a real turd. Good for Arnie.
I did the same thing at work around fifteen years ago. An engineer who was senior to me, who also happened to be a gigantic douche bag, had me put together some data for him while he was in Asia. I had to stay late to do it and was a little annoyed. I got the first letters of the lines in the cover letter to spell “Fuck Off Pat.”
I was a little freaked out after I sent it because once you know it’s there, it’s obvious. No one noticed. I had a colleague read the letter a few days later as if I wanted it proofread and she didn’t notice until I pointed it out to her.
For other politicians, I’d consider the possibility of an amazing and bizarre coincidence, but Arnold has made it quite clear that in his mind, “Governor of California” is the latest movie in which he was hired to play a brawny, brainless tough guy. What’s particularly absurd (I was going to say “ironic”, but on second thought it’s not ironic at all) is that he’s supposedly upbraiding the legislature for not tackling important issues, yet this kind of juvenile behavior makes it less likely that there will be enough good feelings in Sacramento for anything to get done. There are some professionals where being a merry prankster is a good thing, but Governor is not one of them.
Yes, but the article said that Arnie has a penchant for putting poetic asides in his vetoes already.
I love it. The Governator just rose a few notches with me.
No way was it an accident. Ammiano is a dick, and deserves every smack-down.
I think it has to have been intentional, and it’s funny.
Just for a comparison, peruse a few posts on the board for first letter acrostics. Reading down the first letters of posts, how often do you even see a single word spelled out by random chance, much less a coherent phrase? I think Ockham cuts more toward intention than accident here. It’s clever.
Seriously, how can we possibly be debating whether this was intentional or not? Do some of you really need it spelled out for you? Because it was.
Oh, and maybe the “TI” is really “T1” as in the Terminator gives a big ol’ fuck you.
Ah! I missed it first time. I was looking at the first letter of each sentence, then the first letter of each paragraph. But you’re right.
Another vote for it was intentional - and awesome.
This has got to be deliberate.
The only thing that could have improved it would be if it said this -
I am returning Assembly Bill 1176 without my signature.
For some time now I have lamented the fact that major issues are overlooked while many
unnecessary bills come to me for consideration. Water reform, prison reform, and health
care are major issues my Administration has brought to the table, but the Legislature just
kicks the can down the alley.
Yet another legislative year has come and gone without the major reforms Californians
overwhelmingly deserve. In light of this, and after careful consideration, I believe it is
unnecessary to sign this measure at this time.
Going forward, and in reference to all future legislation,
if it is necessary for the legislative branch to waste time
roiling the pot, as it were, I would hope very much that the CA
legislature will spend its’s time on debate on bills designed to assist
youth and seniors alike, in this great state.
Moreover, I pledge my self to a higher and brighter vision where
all the citizens of our state can rely on this office to lead them into a
new and better future.
Regards,
Shodan
The guy was clearly an idiot for trying to take Arnie to task over gay marriage which Arnie has no control over. He opposed Proposition 8 and thinks it’s a matter for the courts or the voters to decide, which is legally correct. That guy is an utter tard.
Another vote for intentional. Also, I note that the spokesman in the article was ready with examples of non-obscene “coincidences” from previous veto messages, which leads me to suspect that he had reason to prepare for the inevitable questions…
Wow, that’s awesome. And intentional.
California’s falling apart and the governor’s using the power of his office to lob profanities at someone who hurt his feelings. Pardon me for not joining in the cheers and giggles.
It’s not particularly clever either. Creating an acrostic is trivial when you don’t have to concern yourself with rhyme or meter or even natural-sounding prose.
This fallacy is so tired. The idea that one cannot poke fun at one’s enemies while still governing is cliche. On another board someone was trying to point out that Obama golfed too much to effectively govern as though he can’t do business on the links like everyone else in the western world.
Well, everyone who has a Uroclub, at least.
