SAP is a clusterflutter to administer - I don’t even want to know what the processing is like.
Speech, speech! I need to write a 90-second (can be a touch shorter but not a millisecond longer) speech for my participation in what’s come to be known as “The thing we do in May” - it’s almost like Macb…errr…that Scottish play.
Strawberries come in a few shades of red, and white. Maaaaybe yellowish white. The seeds for blue, black, purple you can buy are scams, I’m afraid. There’s masses of fake seeds for sale online, working on the principle that most people won’t manage to grow them at all, and will assume they did something wrong. Then if they do manage to get them to fruiting stage, by the time they worked out it’s not like it looked on the packet it can be well over a year after sowing the seeds, so it’s far too late to give poor feedback or demand a refund.
Anyway, test thing yesterday went well, pretty sure I got 'em all right. The class total slacker didn’t show up at all, I’m hoping (as he’s already failed multiple modules) this might mean he’s out next year. Yeah, that’s mean, but he’s not showing up and just expecting everyone else to help him out with everything. He slows everything down by, on the rare occasions he does show up for class, essentially trying to hijack it to get explanations of all the stuff he missed. He’s getting nothing from it, and the rest of us are getting sick of it.
He’s 26, not one of the 18 year olds, he’s put effort into getting onto the course, he’s not just been pushed on to it by school. He really, really should know better.
Oh, the security is even worser. They’re actually using the whole master roles and composite roles and derived roles kind of thing (which is Good), but apparently whomever designed it forgot to explain what its whole point is (uniformity sort of; anybody who’s got the same job title should have the same accesses, but for whichever locations are relevant to him). SooooOOoooo… while the whole complicated security thing is in place, the accesses actual people get are managed in the sadly-more-common style of “I need the same accesses as Joe down in Accounting and for the same factory”, but then you need a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, nth rounds of “yo, yeah I got the accesses but you forgot to activate the factory… because it’s the factory where I work… no, why would I want to be able to see data at the Coventry factory? I’m not even on the same landmass!.. eh, hi? Uhm, I used to have access to this and that screens, but now I don’t. I’d like them back, activated for the factory where I work… Because I can’t really help the Accounting people track their stuff if I don’t have permission to see their stuff… No, not Coventry! Springville! What? No, Springville isn’t the same factory as Coventry!”
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 85 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse later this mornin’ and into the afternoon. We shall see. I do not need to go help with mowage over to the church house today as that got done yestiddy. However, I shall go tomorrow to assist with mowage of the back forty as it is not supposed to be rainy tomorrow. Rain is supposed to move in again on Sunday. So, it might or might rain today, tomorrow, or Sunday. TWPTB have not been good with their forecasts this week at all. I do need to run some errands and want to go to the liberry so I shall do that this mornin’. Majik intartoobz pizza shall be supped upon.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then since I am to go about the public I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate goin’ out in public garb. Such a bother!
Awake, alive again. I have a short day at work today because I’m seeing my dermatologist this afternoon. My psoriasis is really kicking up and it’s time to try something more serious.
But it’s sunny and beautiful here in Wisco. Breezy with an anticipated high of 70 where I am. Pretty sweet day to leave the office early, even if it’s to go to the doctor.
Irking but would rather be sleeping. At least tis Firday which does not mean a whole lot to me as I still am irking a half day on Sat. I figure I will finish out this month and hopefully by then my new Sat girl will be up to speed and can handle Sat on her own. That is the plan anyway.
Happy Birthday Sari!
Slept until 8am today, suppose to rain this afternoon (that’s been the everyday forecast for the past week) so I guess laundry needs to be done.
Rain, rain, and more rain.
At least all the lush weeds hide the bald spots in the back yard.
I have some daisies coming up.
Thank y’all for the birthday wishes, Swampy you have a beautiful voice!
Yesterday we got Sah-son’s diploma in the mail.
His GPA is 3.914.
I got my renewal contracts from irk yesterday. Not that I was too worried about it. They aren’t going to let me go, but there isn’t enough irk right now. I have been irking 76+ hours a week and making less then half of what I was making irking 35 hours a week.
It used to be that I woud log in and my phone would start ringing, now I can be online for several hours without a call. So now I log in as soon as I wake up and stay on until 11pm, only logging out to take a shower or if I have to go out somewhere. I used to be chained to my desk when I was irking, now I cook, clean, take naps, sit outside with the dog. I carry my phone with me, which means I set it down somewhere and forget where I left it, then when it starts ringing I make a mad dash around the house trying to find it.
Management tells us (I am not the only one complaining) to hang in there as it’s going to get busy soon.
In the meantime, I am irking whatever little side jobs I can find.
Oh they aren’t. We have gotten wonderfully sweet yellow-fleshed melons from my carefully hoarded seeds, they just don’t have time to get very big, or numerous.
They taste as good as the ones we used to [del]steal[/del] get when I was a kid growing up in Floriduh.
Never worked on SAP, but I was told it was even worse than JD Edwards, which I did have the misfortune to work on. There must be a special level in Hell for the people who designed that POS.
It’s suspiciously nice weather here today. I think it’s trying to lull me into a false sense of security.
Just got back from a (plant) nursery tour organised by the allotment group. Got there, following directions which literally started ‘from the drive’ with no indication of which drive for a site that, so far as I can work out, has 6 different entrances, but eventually got to something which said it was a nursery, so got out the car. There’s a bunch of people standing round, clearly expecting a tour.
I don’t recognise any of them.
I’m at least 30 years younger than any of them, and they’re giving me funny looks.
Some guy who’s clearly in charge of the site walks over, asks ‘So, you’re all [town 20 miles away] gardening group?’ They all happily agree that yes, they are.
Just as I’m thinking I should just bluff it, and gatecrash the wrong nursery tour as the most middle class middle aged form of rebellion ever, when I realise the guys from the allotments are all standing in a different group barely visible round the corner :smack:
I actually went to volunteer there last year; interesting place, but I’m glad I didn’t. They don’t propagate any of their own stock, they just buy it in and grow it on a bit, and propagation is the bit I really want to learn.
Well, had to make a Publix run for detergent before I could do my laundry. Not sure what the clerk thought when I came to the register with Tide Pods and hamburger buns…
Rain has started but I have nowhere to be so I’ll be inter-netting for awhile.
Sari, if that’s on a 4.0 scale, Sah-son did real good (with some prodding from you).
Howdy Y’all! Today I bought and installed a new glass insert for the back door to da cave. It looks like this. I have decided to live with it a couple of days and decide if I really like it or not. I think I like it but guess I just need to look at it installed for a day or two to really decide. Sometimes I agonize over stuff a little too much. Majik intartoobz pizza has been ingested and chillage ensues.
I’ve been feeling down lately. Exhausted and depressed. It seems to be getting a little better though. I went out and accomplished things today. Still had a too-long nap, but yesterday I actually managed to pull an all-dayer, so that’s good.
I am in the airport, waiting to get on the plane. They have live music, which is one of the things I really like about Portland’s airport. Over the year’s I’ve heard some lovely Hawaiian music, classical, guitar, all kinds of things. Today’s fellow is singing a bunch of 70s soft rock. Horse with Name, Country Road, etc. Which is fine, as far as it goes. I like most of those songs in the original. He sings them in about a 2 note range, and no volume shift. It’s like listening to buddhist monks chanting. Very soothing, but not exactly as the artist intended. Strange actually.
