Diet Vanilla Coke - Love it or leave it?

I’m not supposed to drink sodas at all (doc says they promote formation of kidney stones, which I have lots of trouble with), but when I break that rule, it’s always for Diet Vanilla Coke or Diet Mug Rootbeer!

5-7 LITERS?

Okay, hands down, you win!

Ugggg. The Diet Vanilla Coke takes disgusting to me: I belive it’s the artificial sweetner they put in it. Leaves a very nasty aftertaste.

The regular Vanilla Coke, on the other hand, isn’t too bad. Making my own from scratch is still better though: but if I’m thirsty, I’m not about to quibble.

<< Wheeeee! >>

Nope, not in Dublin * Rhino’sHoney *. In Nottingham. We were in Dublin in January for a visit with all the other Dopers in that area.

To me the regular vanilla Coke is way to sweet and coats my teeth sommat horrible. So I’ll stick to the diet version thanks, Nightsong.

5-7 litres per day? Do you have any teeth left Achernar, or a stomach lining? Good golly gee willikers!! Either you have a bladder of steel or are on first name basis with your commode

I like non-diet vanilla coke, although the imported vanilla coke from America that I had once was much nicer! I suspect that they have watered down the vanilla flavour for the uk! Booooo! Diet vanilla tastes awful, just like ordinary vanilla coke. It always reminds me of carrots, for some reason.

And may I say, anyone out there who drinks whole bottles of fizzy drinks a day Don’t!. I used to do that, and I got an extremely painful abcess and my teeth half-rotted away for my pains! You do not want an abcess believe me…I have never felt pain like it before, and I had no idea that pain could be that bad! Drinking fizzy drinks to excess is a extremely bad idea. Don’t do it!

Fact is, my dentist ordered me very sternly never to drink fizzy drinks again, but the fact is, I have been backslilding…because I love them, and water is so boring! I don’t drink tea or coffee (don’t like either of them), and milk just doesn’t quench your thirst the way fizzy drinks do…so I have been doing the ‘acidic fizzy stuff’ more and more again…I don’t drink it in anywhere like as large quantities as I did (no 2 litre bottles at home anymore!) but still…I am a bit worried about it happening again! (and when I go back for my check up and the dentist says in a stern voice “you didn’t stop drinking them did you??” eeek!

Anyway, like I say, do not drink fizzy drinks to excess. You’ll pay for it in agony and acid-dissolved teeth, believe me.

Eh… I floss a lot.

I may not have the healtiest diet, but one thing I don’t fear is dehydration.

Aggh! I meant to say ‘diet vanilla tastes awful just like ordinary diet does’…why didn’t I preview? Gah!

I like Coke. I like vanilla as a flavour. Can’t stand Vanilla Coke. Ain’t life weird?

Since my diet has forced me to drink diet soda instead of regular, I’ve found that Diet Vanilla Coke is one of the few diet sodas I can really stand (along with Pepsi One and Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi).

soda is bad, bad, bad…i stopped drinking the stuff last year, and can’t see me ever partaking again. empty calories, rots your teeth, does a number to your belly…it’s just no good. did you know that originally, coke was intended as a dessert item? it was never supposed to be a beverage that people drank everyday, much less multiple times a day!

It should be called vanilla diet coke.

It is not a Diet version for Vanilla Coke drinkers.

It is a Vanilla version for Diet Coke drinkers.
Oh and I LOVE IT! But then again I always got Vanilla syrup added to my Diet Cokes at restaurants where it is available (i.e. Johnny Rocket’s).

When I first tried Vanilla Coke, I thought “This tastes like cake batter.” Nothing like gulping down cake batter after a nice hot day at the beach.

The diet version, however, packs more of a punch. Much better, IMO.

I love it! Plain Diet Coke gives me indigestion.

No thanks. Diet Vanilla Coke has a seriously nasty aftertaste.

I think the Vanilla helps to kill the nutrasweet taste…
Diet Vanilla also goes VERY well with rum…
my new drink of choice…

I love Vanilla diet coke but only occasionally. If I drink it on a regular basis it loses it’s appeal pretty quickly.

That sounds like a wonderful idea merge!

::wanders off to check the cupboards for rum…::

To all of those with fizzy drink addictions and bad teeth, here’s a little tip:

I know we here in America love our drinks with ice, but develop a habit of crunching the ice after you drink the soda. What this does is it actually cleans your teeth! I do it every time because I really like it it. Once you get through drinking the drink you can crunch the ice and then you have a clean mouth! You’re just really scrubbing your mouth with water. I’ve been doing it for all the years I drink soft drinks, and I’ve never had a cavity. I can’t stand the post-soda dirty mouth feeling anyway. Ice helps a lot!

God, I hate ice crunchers.

crunch
crunch
crunch

what, you mean me?
