Pretty good, I think.
And as to the subject of the pitting, one thing I must say is, really, rubbing in everyone’s faces that you are apaying customer does *so * little to impress anyone…

To think I’m “rubbing being a paying customer in your face” to impress anyone is pretty arrogant and overly self-assured.
Has it occurred to you to notice that not one single other poster on the board has established the kind of negative relationship with the posters here that you have? You seem to think the rules don’t apply to you. You ask asinine questions that could be Googled in seconds, and you answer people back with belligerence and obnoxiousness. You aren’t even trying to make nice, you seem to operate on the notion that you can post whatever you like; you don’t care what anyone says, even the moderators and administrators. Yet no one else here does that. Doesn’t that seem the least bit odd to you? Consider that hundreds of posters here have never received an official warning, but you’re racking them up like trophies. That says a lot about you, and it isn’t pleasant.
If you go to the “thread tools” link at the top of your thread, you can “subscribe” to the thread. This will email you when you get a new response to your question. It’s generally considered good manners to keep an eye on a thread you’ve started, and this is a good tool to help you to do it.
How old are you?
This in fact is considered very impolite on this board; if you start a thread you should follow it. People take the time to answer your questions; you ow them the courtesy of reading what they post in response.
If a large number of posters are criticizing you, it is in your self-interest to at least understand the criticism.
The remarks about “bandwagon followers” and “delicate sensibilities” do not impress me that you are really sincere about understanding the problem, and intend to act on it.
This makes no sense with regard to your “hispanics” thread. You evidently did not intend to ask the question “What is the purpose of hispanics with wide noses?” at all, but a rather different question on the purpose of wide noses themselves (not hispanics). This question can’t be construed as part of a two part question. Did you phrase it this way to be provocative, or just because of carelessness or stupidity?
The people here are NOT flaming you for “any little thing.” They are flaming you for a persistent pattern of behavior that has gone on for many months, despite moderator warnings and having it pointed out to you by other posters in GQ. You are being flamed because you have ignored these and continued with the behavior anyway.
Again, the fact that you are pretending that the criticism is unjustified, and are mischaracterizing your question in the “hispanics” thread, doesn’t suggest to me sincerity on your part.
Well, if you need anything explained to you, I will note that this is rude.
Folks post answers because they are attempting to be helpful and even if the primary question has been answered in some (often minimalist) way, further explications can be of value. By noting up front that you are uninterested in anything more than an initial response, you are saying that while you “don’t have time” to read the board, you have no problem with encouraging other posters to spend time for you on issues in which you have no interest. That is rude behavior. If you are only going to look at the first response and run, then the criticism that you should have used Google™ or even Wikipedia is a legitimate criticism.
It’s also frakking stupid.
Often, the first few answers are just wrong. Or, shall we say, less than nuanced. It’s not until some more answers come out that things are amended, clarified and really answered before the inevitable hijacked trainwreck ensues.
Calling people names and being condescending only shows your ignorance and will never further your goal, whatever that may be in this thread, as it seems to have gotten lost in all the holier than thou posting.
There’s a process here on the SDMB.
We welcome new posters and answer their questions.
If they make an effort to be intelligent and interesting, they become welcome members of the community.
If they behave like jerks, we point it out. if they ignore the advice, we suggest they go elsewhere. If they continue, the name-calling starts.
You ignore the guidance from stickies, posters and moderators.
Then you call us names (as per above).
So instead of calling people “moron”, “idiot” and the like, stop and explain to me the problem, I’ll listen. I don’t do it on purpose. I like this place and would like to stick around, I enjoy reading the posts and learning. Please email me if you see me do something wrong and I’ll fix it. diggleblop at comcast dot net
Have you read any of the criticisms?
Can you list what the problems are?
Since you keep making the same mistakes, either you are doing it on purpose, or you just don’t care.
Finally, why should we e-mail you? This is a public discussion board.
…I don’t have the time to sit here on the internet arguing with a bunch of bandwagon…
Actually, one doesn’t follow a bandwagon. One jumps on it.
Have you ever heard of a question with two parts? If you could look past wanting to flame someone for any little thing, maybe you guys would see that. I mean, there are questions out here like “Why is the sky blue? is it because of the ocean?”, that’s a two part question that can’t be asked in one subject line. Which is why I do that sometimes.
It looks to me like that question can be asked in one subject line.

Your comment in the Pope thread:
As soon as you pay for my membership. Then I’ll give you a serious response.
is what comes off as very arrogant and self-assured. You’re ignorant, and you’re enjoying it. We don’t mind the honestly ignorant folks who drop by with questions, because we like to help - but they usually manage to learn a little while they’re here and become useful members of our board. Paying $14.95 doesn’t give you the right to be an ass. We all pay a membership fee, buddy. And most of us get along just fine and spend some time helping our fellow dopers learn about all sorts of things. You haven’t contributed a goddamn thing except that $14.95 to the SDMB. Next year do us a favor and spend that money on getting the stupid scooped out of your head.
So instead of calling people “moron”, “idiot” and the like, stop and explain to me the problem, I’ll listen.
They are explaining the problem.
Is there any way that when he tries to post, he’s automatically directed to a google search using his thread title? Just for shits and giggles, I googled his last profound GQ post. Lo and behold, his question is answered by 8 out of the 10 first-page search results.
I doubt he’d ever know the difference…
Maybe a bot that automatically replies with a link to such a google search?
Whoah, guess he still doesn’t get it?
Not to validate diggleblop’s posting style, but part of the reason this message board exists is because at least some posters have a fundamental and nuanced understanding of particular subject areas.
For even a moderately complicated question, the first few Google hits may not necessarily answer the question fully. In addition, for some questions, the first few Google hits might be flat-ass wrong. (I answered one a while back on shape memory alloy where this was the case. Apparently a simple question, but, apparently, not well understood.)
Google can be useful as a starting point, and can certainly answer simple what-is-the-capital-of-France type questions. But a Google search does not replace a well-thought-out answer from an expert. Just because you’ve got mad Google skillz doesn’t mean you can adequately answer questions in GQ. Or do we want to turn GQ into a giant “help me find the right Google keywords” forum?

I think we all understand this perfectly well. I would note that other people have been Pitted for telling people to “just Google it,” and I have agreed with such Pittings in some instances. But diggleblop is not looking for some finely nuanced answer. He is, for the most part, not asking even moderately complicated questions, but extremely obvious ones that in fact can easily be answered by Google or Wikipedia. And he has admitted that he doesn’t even read beyond the first few posts his own threads, so he wouldn’t get the benefit of a finely nuanced and detailed answer even if one was given after that point.
It would be different if it were evident that diggleblop had already checked Google, and was trying to verify the information he found there, or seeking a more detailed understanding. But it’s quite obvious he makes no attempt at all to look for information elsewhere. On top of this, he is lazy and careless in formulating his questions. He’s quite clearly in violation of posting guidelines in GQ, and that is what he is being Pitted for.
Well, sometimes after I get an answer in one of my threads, I don’t go back to it. so someone may come in the thread and state that I posted something wrong and I just don’t see it. That, I’m sure, doesn’t help me, so maybe I should start doing it a little more often.
Other times, I may not go into a thread because I know it’s all flaming (such as this one) and I don’t have the time to sit here on the internet arguing with a bunch of bandwagon followers trying to explain my point to someone who already has their mind made up no matter what I state.
Anyways, I’ll be sure to be more careful since my posting offends all of you guy’s delicate sensibilities.
If you’re not willing to put any effort into following up on your threads, or doing the least bit of research, why should the rest of us even bother to spend our time trying to help you?
We don’t have time to go and research your inane ramblings either.
Can’t we all just agree to ignore him from now on?

I would rather see him either improve or go away, but your idea has much value if my other hopes fail to occur.
