Dio couldn't be assed to provide a cite

Well now I am surprised I never heard of him! Darkseid apparently dates back to 1970 and while I was reading more Marvel than DC then, you’d think I’d have noticed that character’s name or that a fellow geek would’ve pointed it out to me. (Yeah, “Seid” is part of my real last name.)

Fun coincidence: “stygian” is used by Terry Pratchett in his newest book, Unseen Academicals: “Gloing! The tiny sound flew past, a moment of liquid gold in the stygian silence.” (location 68-75 Kindle edition). And I was ready for it, thanks to this thread.

I gotta throw in a vote for ivn1188’s post 139. I mean, who but an attorney could say things like “I was unaware of the alleged mocking tone of the OP.” It’s rare for me to do a double-take in an SDMB thread, but the “alleged” had me doing just that.

I’ll admit I could be missing some of the humor in elucidator’s post 138 because I have no personal experience with bongwater and very little with tequila. There’s possible layers of humor I’m missing, but to qualify the tone of the OP as “allegedly” mocking is just the kind of thing I expect from lawyers who have lost touch with reality and started thinking the kind of stuff that flies in court works in public.

Enjoy,
Steven

Wait, what?!

Edit: Yes, post 139 was golden.

Erm…ahhh…um…well…

oh fuck it, I can’t be arsed.
