Hey, nobody told me there was a play by play going on here. Yep, I should be guaranteed 2 builds, but it seems I will be denied my avarice bid for 3. The Italian opening is not wholesale aggression, but I’m not overly thrilled. Austria… I don’t envy Austria’s situation.
Turn adjudications???
The suspense is killing me. Not like you’se guys are having any trouble with that.

I turned in provisional moves on Tuesday, then updated one of them yesterday. So we aren’t waiting for me or England, and I’m pretty sure we aren’t waiting for his southwestern neighbor either.
I’m goin’ batty here!
It’s not any of you! Give a guy a chance to have a donut here!
Mmmm…donuts…
Dip Cecil 934 Fall 1901 is adjudicated.
I think at least one of you won’t be liking the others after this one.
You can send the orders for builds into me but don’t do it publicly (if you choose to do so) before I get the one retreat I need.
Yes, there was already a retreat.
STANDINGS FOR DIP CECIL 934 (Winter 1901)

So let’s here some chatter here!
There we go! Just as I post!
I hope I’m not getting in over my head here . . .
Too.
Many.
People.
In.
The.
Balkans.
Wait.
That’s normal.
Carry on
Oh and Jonathan Chance? I’ve already chewed a piece of my tongue off. It ain’t easy, watching this unfold!
Maeglin - please accept my most humble appologies for my pre-emptive mocking of your stratejums. Clearly you are a diplomat most cunning and wiley…
The rest of you “Watch out”
Hey, I have to be silent, lest I change the game.
You, on the other hand, are more than encouraged to give good or bad advice. Teach them a lesson and get in the next game!
I’m seriously considering the next game. It’s way too much fun. Plus I still need to be properly hashed into pieces by an angry enemy. Then I will be a Complete Player
Good advice. Bad advice.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
<ahem>
Do we have to declare which is which???
“Don’t worry about that loser Maeglin, he’s too busy worrying about Iberia to come and attack Rome”

I thought I was the designated loser.
:pumping arm: “I’m not the loser! I’m not the loser!”
:pumping arm: “I’m not the coder! I’m not the coder!”
Boy, I thought that Austria in game two had a lot of negotiating to do…iampunha, I do not envy you at the moment.
I wonder how many e-mails Maeglin and John Corrado are receiving right now? They seem to have the most flexibility with their builds.
LOL! If Turkey engineered that, and I suspect he did, then I am definitely impressed.
I think consolidation is now the name of the game.
As for my builds, well, people may email me all the want. But I suspect I am not going to change my mind.
Where are all the game 2 participants? Not only are they not in this thread, but they seem to have deported my diplomats, as I’ve heard precious little since the spring move.
iampunha: Do you still want to teach me how to support? Maybe you can teach me how to get into a pickle like the one you are in
John’s Odds on Game 2
Let’s rumble.
[sym]Ý[/sym]France: 6-1 Guaranteed two builds this first turn, and he can pick and choose which side to join in the German-English fracas. The semi-anti-French Italian opening was too restrained to really do damage, and likely will swing east to face the Juggernaut, leaving France in '02 with at least six pieces and no enemies.
~England: 7-1 Solid opening and a safe border with France keeps England’s odds up, but the anti-British actions by Germany (possible) and Russia (most definitely) look to push him into a two-front war. And with no guaranteed build this first turn (unless Germany becomes real, real nice), it’s not good news.
~Germany: 7-1 Two guaranteed builds (he either gets Denmark or Belgium, both if France and England aren’t working together) may seem great, but his position isn’t the best. He may seem like he’s working with Russia against Britain, but Russia doesn’t entirely trust him (note the unit holding in Warsaw). And France could always stab for Munich. And getting an army out of Denmark to replace it with a more anti-British fleet will take some work.
~Italy: 8-1 That number’s no reflection on the Italian player; it’s a reflection on how poorly Italy does in general. The Italian opening move wasn’t optimal- it threatened France without the A Ven-Pie that really puts the screws on- but quite frankly Italy can get along for a year without making any commitment, and maybe a meager anti-French effort can be undone with less work than a major one. We’ll see how well he reacts to the Juggernaut.
[sym]Ý[/sym]Turkey: 6-1 A risky pro-Russian move pays off when Russia moves pro-Turkey. The Black Sea is Free, and the Con fleet is able to move off to greener pastures. Bulgaria is taken, and Turkey can play kingmaker over whether he wants to support Austria into Rumania, or fight a scrap with Austria over Greece. As usual, Turkey comes out looking fine in '01.
~Austria: 8-1 Much as Maeglin calls Austria a fool for trusting Italy, no two countries are more likely to be thick as theives than Austria and Italy. Especially now that the Juggernaut has been revealed. He can guarantee two builds, and that Galicia unit… oh, that Galicia unit! Warsaw, Ukraine, or try for Rumania with support from Greece? So many options, and choosing right means such a jump…
[sym]ß[/sym]Russia: 8-1 Russia can fight two wars at once. But can and should are compeltely different things. He can make some progress in the north if Germany or France makes trouble for Britain, but Austria’s jump on the Russo-Austrian war puts him in a bad spot. How much does he really trust Turkey not to steal Rumania? Defend Ukraine and maybe lose Warsaw, or hold Warsaw and hope that there isn’t an Austrian raider in the Russian backfield in '02? Not good, no matter how the Czar slices it.
Note: All predictions here made independent of any knowledge of the playing styles, ability, or diplomacy of the players of Game 2. Predictions should not be used to gauge whether someone is actually a better player than someone else. Predictions are pulled out of my ass, and not necessarily going to hold for a single turn, let alone the game.
Erratum:
England can guarantee Norway with A Edi-Nwy, F Nth C A Edi-Nwy, F Nwg S A Edi-Nwy. Mea cupla.
No change in odds, though.
I’m here, I’m here! Things could be going better. I would have thought Russia had better things to worry about or have ambitions about then England. If you’re out there Russia you still have time to back off but if you keep coming you better, better hope that I get taken down!! If you keep bringing resources up North, I hope Austria disembowels you good!
Should I be acting like a ditsy blonde?? Maybe that’s the problem.
Clarissa
And considering I liked Turkey, too. Gave him actual advice, as opposed to trying to sway him to my wishes.
::shaking head:: Some people . . .
Clarissa, if you can make nice with Germany, the two of you should be able to keep Russia pretty much under control in Scandanavia. Or you could make nice with Russia and crush Germany.
Six vodkas on the one hand, a half dozen biers on the other.
