Honestly, he had every right to be murderous.
As I said, “well-earned daddy issues.”
Regarding the electable monster (no, not Trump, bad thoughts!), I went with libertarian Frankenstein’s monster. I would expect that based on his personal history (all we have to go by) he’d be one of the now-silenced libertarians that were 100% for personal freedom, while also for minimal government interference in business and private affairs, which I could live with.
The liberal vampire is a problem in that we don’t know what position they are being elected for: and while there’s a lot of variation in myths for the others, the vampire assumption of immortality is pretty common. I don’t want to elect anyone to a possible un-term limited or worse lifetime position that could be there for centuries.
Because the most liberal vampire of 300 years ago is a conservative on the level of Alito / Thomas now…
Since you insist, I’ll go ahead and vote vampire - with the understanding that I’m picking the variety. Specifically, the ones that are largely indistinguishable from human, unharmed by religious objects and the sun, immortal, able to control bloodlust, and with strong mind control and charm abilities. That way I get to continue living as I’m accustomed too, and use my mind control to minimize the issues of resetting my life every few decades and making money.
Because who wants to be a low level vampire who has to work the nightshift for cash under the table or the equivalent forever, because you don’t have the means to make or fake convincing valid ID? And who wants to live forever if you have to work such a job, or almost any job, forever. Heck no.
Communist Ghost cereal could be called Bootin.
I’m all about the Sugar Frosted Frooty Branes.
You know, that’s a good point, Maus. And so is the one about vampires being immortal. I think I’ll go change my vote.
ETA: am I seriously thinking about my votes in a poll of that sort?
Regarding morning cereal, I voted for zombie. Although rather than cute, I figured they’d go for no-brainer (heh) and pick “Breakfast Zombie”. Because, first thing in the morning, many of us look and act like that.
(Yes, I’m ashamed of that joke, and should be.)
I just hope the zombie cereal actually looks like little braiiiiiiiiiiiiins.
I voted for zombie cereal. Reuse, recycle, no waste.
For the Holy Grail post, though I did pick a choice, in many ways it isn’t my only choice but I picked it because of racing. Sir Lancelot attacking the wedding party is just like blue flagging my Le Mans post. You see the cars coming at you from far away. You see the cars coming at you from far away. You see the cars coming at you from far away. Boom. They are here and gone. It’s quite the challenge.
And is made with whole graaaaaaaaiiiiiiiins.
As usual, I need another choice.
I think it would be good if women weren’t ever expected to wear makeup, and nobody wore it because they thought they had to.
But some people (of various genders) appear to think it’s fun; and I don’t think it would be good if they were somehow forbidden to wear it.
And some people have injuries or deformities they like to obscure, so others don’t just stare at the spot. I would want them to have access to makeup.
I went with the vampire because they know they’re going to be around a long time, so they’re going to want the world to be reasonably clean for the next millennia. Thus, they will be in favor of environmental legislation
On the other hand, they’re implacable foes of solar power.
As far as I know, like 99% of the flights I’ve ever taken in my life were on a 737.
I flew on one 747 that I recall. It was on the old People’s Express airline. ($49 Newark to Chicago!). I bought a first-class ticket from Newark to Denver, and it was very nice. Surprisingly good food and service for a low fare airline.
These days so many flights are on 737s. (or Airbus equivalent) In the old days we had more variety. 727s, DC-9 and DC-10s.
Good point, I should have added more poll options.
As is, though, I was surprised that 80% of poll respondents - women and men - both believe it would be good if women stopped using makeup/cosmetics permanently. I know the Dope isn’t a representative sample of the global populace, but it’s ironic/strange that makeup culture is so pervasive when/if it’s so heavily opposed deep down. Apparently makeup is one of those things that few people like but nobody can really get the ball rolling to abolish/phase out.
I’ve flown on the 747 many times.
First time was on Air Canada from Montreal to Miami. Yes, they used to fly jumbos on this route in winter, in the 70s.
For quite a few years they were common on intercontinental flights, so I’ve been on them for lots of flights to Europe and Asia.
I flew on a 747 twice:
- On a Swissair flight from Chicago to Zurich in 1994
- On a United flight from Chicago to Seattle, in the early '90s. IIRC, after stopping in Seattle, the plane was continuing to Tokyo.
I don’t think I’ve been on any widebody airliner in at least a decade; nearly all of my flights in the past six or seven years have been either on 737s, or on regional jets (Bombardier or Embraer).
