Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

I never watch the end credits, and fast forward through the opening credits.

Either!

Primary characters should be listed first, then secondary, etc.
Listing in order of appearance gets you a lot of “Man in Train Station” or “Store Clerk” before getting to, say, the main love interest, which can be annoying if you’re looking for who played a particular character.

Of course, now I just look on IMDb, so it matters much less.

Same here. Which is probably the main reason I don’t know who was in what film. But, for me, my enjoyment of a movie doesn’t hinge on who played the roles. Someone was telling me that so and so was a shoo-in to win best supporting actor in Oppenheimer. I had to ask which character he played.

Weirdly I thought of the rabbit first, even though I read a lot of Discworld.

Every year we spend about 3 days cleaning the house and putting up xmas decorations. My gf uses evergreen material harvested from our land to make some of the decorations. Our house looks great for the xmas ever party.

We tear it all down the day after xmas.

For the years where we did put up decorations or a tree, I’d get rid of them as soon as possible. Always by New Years. [If “Christmas” could be limited to a week or so every year, I don’t think I would hate it so much.]

The correct answer is missing from the christmas decoration removal poll.
It is, of course, 5th January; twelfth night.
After New Years but before January 6 is closest.

No, leave them up through 12th Night, then take them down on January 6th.

Christmas decorations should stay up until Candlemas. Unfortunately, my wife and the HOA have other ideas.

February 2nd? That’s interfering with VD!

I believe the current term is STI.

And weren’t you paying attention in Health class? Didn’t they show you the movies?

We don’t put up Christmas decorations other than cards, which go on the fridge and may never come off. (Seriously, we have a few that are a could years old, and i like them.) But i was sad to see my neighbor taking down the lights in his hedge the day after Christmas. I would have liked to enjoy them longer.

I bring in several evergreen tree branches on winter solstice, decorate them, and put them back on under the trees (minus decorations) on January 2nd.

They’re not really Christmas decorations. I didn’t vote.

This thread is now also going wonky for me; but I think it’ll let me post this.

This is the only correct answer.

If we have any decorations, they come down the day after New Year’s. New Year’s Day is a day for watching the Rose Parade, eating too much, and watching too much football.

Oh, and sorry! @kayT fooled me into responding in the polls thread.

Christmas decorations come down AFTER Twelfth Night, and thus ON Epiphany (Jan. 6th). Partly because it’s traditional, and partly because it irritates the folks who put their decorations up in mid-November and don’t understand that Christmas is still going in January.

I took what decorations there were down today.

Now when they get put away is a different issue.

I’m guessing sometime in March.

Our HOA requires Christmas decorations be taken down by the end of January. Since my wife’s tendency is to procrastinate, that’s when she does it.

“Cast in order of appearance” means most attractive actors first, ending with most grizzled or scuzzy.
