Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 1)

A superpower might be nice, and fun, for a little while, but incredible luck is its own superpower, and in many cases it may require little to no effort on your part to benefit from.

ETA: OTOH, it doesn’t specify good luck…

ETA2: but then again, the word “unlucky” exists for a reason.

It all depends: Do I get to choose what the superpower is, or not?

If yes, superpower.

If no, then I’m taking the good luck.

Yeah, good night, calabash (wherever you are).

mmm

Cooking time is determined by size. If you have anything noticeably larger than the others just give it an extra 30 seconds or so in the fryer. Popcorn shrimp are usually just chain restaurant snacks. You want a decent sized shrimp for home frying - maybe about 25 to 30 count.

I think the only thing that I deep fry that doesn’t always have some cornmeal in the breading is ckicken-fried steak. If your seafood breading doesn’t have at least some cornmeal (2 to 1 flour/cornmeal?), then you can’t make those delicious hushpuppies to go with your shrimp and oysters

And now I want hushpuppies.

Who is going to take care of the farm, the cats, and the dog while I’m on the cruise?

I’m actually a fairly slow eater myself, but I also tend to eat small portions, so I usually finish a bit ahead of everyone else.

Heh. My gf is taking her mom to visit relatives in Florida in a couple of weeks. I’m the one who will be taking care of everything while she’s gone. Likewise, if I “won” a cruise, I’d take it. She can feed the dogs, etc while I’m gone.

Seems like everyone in my family worked in a hospital at one time or another. They all eat fast, because they got so little time to eat. I prefer to savor my food.

That also seems to be a thing in the food service industry, ironically. I have an aunt who’s dating a former professional chef. He eats ridiculously fast. If saying grace was a thing we did, he’d probably finish eating before “Amen.”

“Without pants” should be the default answer to just about every question.

I’ve lost a lot of my appetite as I’ve gotten older. I’m a slow eater but not like the comical exaggeration in the poll option.

I’m a slow-to-average eater, except for a few foods. I eat a lobster really slowly, removing every little bit. I may finish and take the tail home to eat for tomorrow’s lunch.

Cold coffee? I won’t even drink hot coffee.

It doesn’t say anything about not heating it up in the microwave.
Which is what i do.

Sometimes I heat it back up. Sometimes I drink it cold. I’d be unlikely to just pour a full cup down the drain, or to pour out the rest of a cup just because I’d been drinking it slowly, but if I come across a cup hours later with just a couple of mouthfuls left in the bottom I’ll probably pour that out.

I wait until it’s not-too-hot to drink it. I often drink “hot” beverages that have cooled to room temp.

I never drink coffee. Occasionally, when I am really desperate for caffeine, I will have a cup of cream and sugar with a little bit of coffee in it. At that point, temperature is irrelevant.

When I got engaged in 1990, I told my wonderful future wife that I’d be honored if she took my last name, but that it was entirely her decision. She had several female relatives who’d found it a hassle to not take their husbands’ names in those less-enlightened times, so she took my last name. She’s since said she has no regrets about the decision.

I strongly prefer hot coffee to cold, but I’ll usually finish the cup even if it’s gone cold.

I do tend to eat fast. Especially if I’m dining with family or friends, I’ll sometimes purposefully slow down so as not to finish first and be left sitting there with nothing to do.

As Domino taught us in Deadpool 2, incredible luck is a superpower.

I’d never even heard of Black Vulcan before, but now that I’ve seen both the pantsed and pantsless versions on Google Images, I’ve happily voted for Option B, which is faaaabulous.
