Yeah, this. I came here to post the exact same thing.
Do I know what a bomb cyclone is? I live near San Francisco, so I do now. Electricity has been out for 22 hours, and PG&E still doesn’t even have an estimate for when it will be restored.
In my previous house I installed a switch that does nothing.*
Butter, cream cheese, and jalapenos.
mmm
*I was planning on running some wiring to install outside lights, never got around to it beyond the switch.
This. I love toast. Buttered toast, cheese toast, toast topped with beans, toast topped with sharp cheddar and an egg, avocado toast, using toast for a sandwich, putting my homemade alcoholic jams on toast as dessert. It’s such a treat to eat good toast.
The other day I put salsa and Parmesan cheese on a piece of bread. Toaster oven until done. I called it pizza.
That made me go research why they’re called “bomb” cyclones. I was sure it must just be a shortening of some technical meteorological term, unrelated to actual bombs. But if Wikipedia is to be believed, the origin of the name is
In the 1940s and 1950s, meteorologists at the Bergen School of Meteorology began informally calling some storms that grew over the sea “bombs” because they developed with a great ferocity rarely seen over land.
Why no avocado?
We used to do something like that with English muffins when I was a kid. Top with marinara, cheese, and maybe pepperoni if we had it on hand. Toaster oven until the cheese was melted.
Exactly! Why no avocado? My gf needs to be more proactive in the grocery store, dammit.
If we do-nothing Millennials have contributed to society in any way, it’s with avocado toast.
English muffin mini-pizzas are a recurring theme for standup comic Mike Burbiglia.
I had never tried, or even given a thought to, avocado toast until I happened to try some at a small corner cafe in Australia.
It was avocado, feta, black pepper, and some unknown greens atop a piece of thick, rustic toast.
It was the second time I’ve ever fallen in love.
mmm
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
I suspect that convenience store/gas stations are pretty regional. I don’t remember ever hearing about, let alone seeing, Sheetz, RaceTrac, or Wawa; and 7-11 is pretty famous but not common in my neck of the woods. On the other hand, Casey’s and Thornton’s are pretty common here.
I need a “none” choice for favorite convenience store/gas station since I don’t get snacks or gas at convenience stores.

Sheetz, RaceTrac, or Wawa
Yup, they’re all regional, in the eastern and/or southeastern U.S. I have friends who live in Philadelphia, who are huge Wawa fans.
I voted “other,” as my favorite wasn’t listed: the Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip (not to be confused with the Oklahoma-based QuikTrip).

I voted “other” but which i meant “none”. I buy gas at gas stations and when i buy snacks it’s usually at a grocery store.
Wawa extends into New Jersey, or at least used to. I remember seeing one in Princeton awhile back.
If it ain’t Buc-ees, I don’t buy snacks.
Sheetz is the only one around here.
I have zero preference.
