Don’t get me wrong, I’m disgusted by the practices of Boeing that have recently come to light. But it’s not like 737s are falling out of the sky every day. A plane crash is still a vanishingly rare event. I fly Southwest often (they use 737s almost exclusively, including the MAX) and have no extra anxiety because of it.
I fly frequently and it doesn’t really bother me. But when I sat down and saw the Max 8 identification card in the seat I was a bit spooked.
Like a muscle spasm, my memory involuntarily flashed tidbits of the past fiasco.
I was traveling with cousins who had never heard of anything and I kept mute.
The “immediate shock” wore off quickly.
The plane ride was actually enjoyable.
I picked ‘I’ve never customized’ for the same reason.
I fly Alaska almost exclusively. They don’t give me a discount for riding in the 737MAX. I figure if the pilot is okay (knowing a lot more than I do about the issues) I’ll sit back and enjoy the ride.
I’m definitely taking the MAX for the discount, yes.
I often customized my video game character to look very different than me. I already look at myself all the time, so I might as well be someone other than myself.
Rayon is okay, but it is going away and being replace by Polyester as more or less that is what China makes of out of.
That’s why I prefer vintage. I hate polyester. It makes me sweat, and it retains odors.
I often go with the stock character. It’s usually better than what I can come up with.
I have worn Hawaiian shirts in my 20s when they were fun and ironic. Now it would just look sad.
Heh. I’m not wearing the Hawaiian shirts ironically. I didn’t get ones that are very “loud”, i got ones that i thought were pretty. I’m enjoying the fun patterns and the comfortable cut.
Yep. I try to use only natural fabrics, but if I got a nice vintage hawaiian shirt in my size in rayon, that would be fine.
I dont wear anything “ionically”, I wouldnt even know how to do that. I guess that makes me totally “un-hip”
People in my town still geocache.
Remember- do not brush your teeth after eating. Chew sugar-free gum or use an alcohol free mouthwash.
Do brush before going to bed and in the morning.
Ignore the commercials that show people squirting a inch or more toothpaste on their bruch- you need an amount about the size of a pea.
The tooth brushing poll was inspired by the fact that I saw multiple people brushing their teeth in the restroom at the office today. And that made me wonder just how often these people are brushing their teeth.
I brush twice a day because that’s my dentist recommends. Also, I could not start my day without brushing my teeth, nor could I not brush them at night because I get food trapped in my teeth all the time. There’s a reason I have had only one cavity in my life.
For the Additional Airplane quotes, I am currently the only one who selected “I speak Jive” but one of the reasons was a (now dated) webcomic variant popular with me and my wife:
Currently @kenobi_65 and @dirtball are the only ones who can both fly this plane and didn’t have fish for dinner. The lives of everyone onboard depend on you.
Good luck. We’re all counting on you.
Surely you can’t be serious.
I was going to say that i don’t know if geocaching is still a thing but do
have a way of finding out, which wasn’t an option, but reading your
reply i now know that it obviously is still a thing, so i can now enter a vote.
Thanks.
Come to think of it, I did have a way of finding out – at least two ways. Ask the Dope, or search for recent hits on the term. So I suppose when I said I couldn’t find out what I meant was really that I wasn’t going to bother trying.
Geocaching is apparently still a thing around here. When hiking with the dogs they occasionally find something. I’ll return it to its location and move on.
