And of course, as I mentioned, some Francophone artists. Assuming Quebec was polled too.
I was in a boat parade! My accordion teacher got a bunch of us to play for a Santa Barbara fiesta. I think it was a flower festival, because the boat we were in (after we played) was decorated with flowers. I was a kid so the memory is a bit vague, but I remembered we ended up stripping the flowers (only carnations) off on our way back after parade was officially over.
Moose is leading the dog actors poll by a long shot. I can’t help but wonder that this might be due in large part to his unusual name. (Nearly all the other dogs on that list have fairly ordinary and therefore forgettable names.)
I remember that, when Frasier was originally on the air, Moose got mentioned fairly frequently in stories about the show (and under his real name, not the “Eddie” name). So, relative to other animal actors, he probably got more exposure, comparatively speaking.
Yeah, as I remember, he’d been a “problem” dog who kept being returned to the pound (rescue org?), and he was in danger of being euthanized until the animal trainer adopted him and made him a STAR!
Asta/ Skippy.

For the parade pill I answered “other”. I’ve never been in a parade, but my daughter played clarinet in the band in school. One year I walked alongside the parade for the entire route so I could hear her play.
When we reached the end of the long parade route I discovered my daughter had arranged a ride home with friends. I had planned to walk her to her home. Instead I walked alone, then a rainstorm erupted.
Re: parades – in Cub Scouts I walked in our towns Christmas parade every year. I was in marching band in high school and we did the Christmas parade in two different towns, and the annual Homecoming parade. So yeah, I’ve been in many parades. I would have been in Boy Scouts at the same time I was in marching band; I don’t recall if they also marched in the parade and I just couldn’t participate with them because I had to go with the marching band or not.
Re: Canadian musical acts – I recognize the name Our Lady Peace; it seems like they were one of those bands that got a lot of play on alternative radio in the 1990s, but I can’t think of what song(s) they’re known for. And I’ve definitely heard of Shania Twain, but I can’t name a single one of her songs.
Do i have the poll for you!
No love for the French band Phoenix?
Ça plane pour moi, moi moi, moi, moi, ça plane pour moi!
Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?
Shouldn’t they be followed by guys with shovels & wheeled trash cans?
There is also a cadre of elves with shovels and a small utility cart pulled by a lawnmower or UTV
The French singer Mylène Farmer, actually born in Quebec, is a massively successful artist, regularly selling out stadiums throughout France and French-speaking Europe. She’s had ten Number One albums there, including her most recent, released in 2022. She’s had 21 Number One singles. Yet she’s so obscure to English speakers that she didn’t even appear on the Francophone artist list just posted here.
I know Lisztomania, and have one of their albums, but didn’t realize they did songs in French (but may have just forgotten ).
To be fair, my poll was never meant to be a complete list of the most popular French artists. I picked many who had hits in English-speaking countries, some who were very popular but only in their home countries, and some slightly more obscure ones.
I only know Shadowy Men From a Shadowy Planet because they did the Kids in the Hall theme music.
I have a Charles Trenet CD that I really enjoy.
Oh, I’m not blaming you. I just find it curious.
Dr Pepper is not a cola. But it is a brown caffeinated soda, so it takes the place of a cola in some cases.
I will drink an occasional Diet Dr Pepper.
