Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

Asta was not in the dog poll. :grimacing:

Yes, I was sad, and I pointed that out.

No Maurice Chevalier either, I note.

“Thank Heaven For Little Girls” is a lot less charming than it used to be, but he still gets credit for the theme to The Aristocats.

Me too

Yes, I should have included a “I have ridden an animal in a parade” option.

Haircuts:

I have not had my hair professionally cut since before covid. I have very long hair that mostly lives braided, currently when it’s loose I can almost sit on it. When it gets ratty I trim it myself, and I manage to keep my bangs reasonably tidy too.

I started shaving my head back in 2001. Not balding in the least - I just prefer the cue ball look. So I haven’t had a haircut in decades.

I cut my own hair/beard during COVID, but now get a pro cut twice a year. I shaved my head after my gf’s cancer diagnosis, but it turned out she didn’t need chemo. Great for her, but I was a bald or for a few years.

When I was shaving my head I was in the same situation. Bald by choice is a real thing. I stopped shaving because it was too demanding. I liked my head smooth, which meant shaving twice a day.

I’ve been cutting my own hair since I was out of high school. I hate people touching my head. I just buzzed it all off with an electric razor for about 20 years, then during COVID I decided to just let it grow. I’ve trimmed off a couple of inches here and there since then, just with a pair if scissors at home.

Haircuts (early 50, full head of hair so far) are about every 3 months. I cut it to about an inch and a half (half that on the sides) and it grows out and gets stupidly curly. Much past 3 months it gets unspeakably poofy (Loose curled Jew-Fro [ which I am ] ) so I have to get it cut.

That is +/- about a month depending on the season. It’s up to a month shorter during hot months, and the reverse if it’s cold. No, I don’t need a hat to keep my head warm in winter.

Haircuts about every two to three weeks. I HATE when I can feel hair that has grown out to touch my ears. I was really glad when the 1970s ended

My SO is a barber/hair stylist, so I haven’t been to a barber shop in more than twenty-five years.

I stopped getting my hair cut during COVID and started wearing it pulled up on top of my head with a scrunchie. For some reason (gravity?) it stays curlier that way. I trim it myself about once a month, and I had Sue Grafton flashbacks when I realized I was using nail scissors to cut it.

I had my hair professionally cut shortly before my wedding, decades ago. My husband trimmed the rest tail at the end once, and I’ve done that once since then. So nope, i have hair and don’t have it cut.

About every 4 weeks. One on the side five on top.

I answered “I don’t have hair.” (I actually have plenty of hair, just not on my head.)

What little fringe I have growing around the back and sides gets buzzed off with a guardless clipper every couple weeks or so. I don’t consider that a haircut.

I have to have regular haircuts (usually done by Mrs Magill) otherwise it devolves into possum head real quick.

I have (much) less hair than I used to on top. I’d considered shaving, but i have a really big head, and it would just look silly.

One day in about '90, I looked in the mirror and came to realize I was doing a weak-ass combover, so I tossed it all back off the back and let my dome shine. Never really needed a haircut since then: it grows to about 8 or 9 inches and no more. But it was a damn relief not to have to struggle with it any more.

I don’t understand all the votes that Dr. Pepper is not a cola. Looking in a variety of dictionaries, “cola” is generally defined as a dark-colored sweetened carbonated drink flavored with kola nut extract or similar flavors. Dr. Pepper meets most of that definition; the only plausible way I can see to claim that it’s not a cola is to argue that its flavor is not similar to kola nut extract. Is that what everyone is claiming? I honestly couldn’t tell you what kola nut extract tastes like. Dr. Pepper’s taste is not identical to Coke or Pepsi, but I couldn’t justify an argument that it’s not “similar”.

Yup, that’s exactly it. It’s a dark brown soda; but it has a different flavor profile. As per Wikipedia:
