I expect to put out one jackolantern; probably on the 31st and quite possibly shortly before dark. Sometime after dark I’ll light a candle in it.
What category does that come into?

Stop buying plastic skeletons for Halloween, they’re terrible for the environment.
Locally sourced, all natural skeletons are much more environmentally friendly.
They take a bit of prep work, but so worth it.
Reuse, repurpose, recycle.

“I’m decorating the exterior of my home/yard for Halloween.” would fit the bill.
A great example of why I love the Dope. Thanks,
I interpreted “bah humbug” to mean I never decorate inside or out for Halloween and therefore voted for it. I’d vote the same for xmas decorations, except once every few years my wife insists we put up a tree or something.
My wife does most of the decorating, but yes, outside is decorated and to a lesser extent inside.
I sit outside on Halloween, and hand out treats. We never know how many we will get, it varies. I have some lights as a treat, and a large bowl of cheap toys the kiddos can take from, plus candy of course. I usually wear a sorta costume. Water for the adults.
We have a plastic dachshund skeleton we got at Target years ago that we used to hang over our front door. It hung over a dark brown trim board and slightly below the porch light. It looked awesome at night. But our front door is oversized (on the tallness side), so it’s gotten a little dicey getting up on a ladder to hang it.
We landed in Delhi many years ago in what I thought was a fog, but it turned out that so many fireworks had been set off for Diwali that the air had turned sulphurously smoky.
I do sort of know what Diwali is. But I didn’t know when it is, other than vaguely; certainly not down to the day. So only the pendantically other answer seemed to fit.
It moves around (I think the Hindu calendar is lunar.), but it’s always late October/ early November. Our next door neighbors are Hindu.
I work in IT. There have been Indian co-workers at every place I’ve worked at for the past 24 years.
Their was an Indian couple renting next door to us for a few years. He normally worked in NoCal, but was temporarily reassigned to SoCal. His wife made the neighbors in our corner of our complex treats for Diwali. Yum.She liked to come over and play with our dogs, too. Nice people. I miss them.
Oh yeah, my neighbors are the best. My oldest thought my butter chicken was the best, until she made him hers when he graduated high school.
At least Fang still talks to me.
I put up a few Halloween/fall decorations inside. I do not expect any treat or treaters and I will not answer the door on October 31st, even if I am home. Trick or treating is not a thing here.
And here comes the pendrantry.
Due to the new moon, some cities are celebrated Diwali on November 1st. Our branch in India has the official day on November 1st.
As most people are taking the whole week off, and some are also taking the following week off, it doesn’t matter to me which day it is.
I have made no edits on Wilipedia but my sister and I will be working to fill in a stub article someone else placed there.
Given the Wikipedia poll just dropped in a TV Tropes poll, tho I am not sure how many here are into that site or even know it exists.
Editing the thing has kind of taken on a mind of its own for me now, so over 1000 is just my best guess (maybe 1200 or so?). My mind is very good at cross-correlating data like that, so many of my edits involve adding a hyperlink to either a sentence somewhere in the Trope section or an “See also XXXX YYY ZZZZ” link to a closely-related trope in the intro section. I haven’t as of yet come up with a brand new entry however, tho some unedited Looney Tunes clips are open for business if I so desire.
I much prefer working there than on Wikipedia-my last edit at the latter got reverted when someone said that just because Munchausen-by-proxy wasn’t explicitly diagnosed in-universe in the film Sixth Sense, it couldn’t be hyperlinked to the Munchausen article (which has since been renamed Factitious disorder). Something like that on TVT is de riguer of course and nobody is going to bat an eye unless the linkage is a real stretch.
In Japan only kindergartens seem to do Halloween. When my kids were in day care, we hosted Halloween parties, but those days are long gone.
Stores have Halloween decorations up, but that’s all.
Hey @Karen_Lingel !
When you said make the same choices in both those cookie polls, did you
mean pick the same flavors, or give the ranked ones equal rankings
or what ?
For those who don’t: got a week or two you weren’t using?
