I’ve run a fishing boat with a putt-putt motor, and I counted it.
I’ve sailed, rowed a boat, canoed, and kayaked. Surely that counts. I may also have driven a motor boat, but wouldn’t sweat too it one way or the other.
This. I voted that I haven’t had it; but if I have had it, it was very mild or asymptomatic. I have some of the common covid symptoms anyway for other reasons, so I could have missed a minimally symptomatic case.
I’ve never actually served on a jury, and so voted; but I’ve been called for jury duty twice. Both times they filled the jury box and alternates before they got to me.
– oh, I’ve paddled a canoe and a rowboat; and once a kayak. I forgot about that. Does that count as “driving” a boat, though? If so I should change that vote.
I have rowed a canoe and a small boat, as well as a small pedal-boat, but didn’t count either as “driving” a boat.
I also have never purchased a NEW car. Every car I’ve bought has been purchased used. My wife has purchased new twice now, but also historically gone with used options.
As for ice-skating… well, I lived in Southern NM from 5-18. Not really a thing locally, and never bothered now that I’m an adult in Colorado with a history of poor joints.
We just got a new car last week (we wanted to buy before the tariff pricing hit). Since I’m in Raleigh this week, I swung by the Red & White shop and got an NC State frame, and will swap out the dealer frame as soon as I get home.
I’ve spend the majority of my adult life in Asia, so there were a few common things that I haven’t done including serving on a jury. Japan and Taiwan don’t have Venmo.
I debated about owning a video game consule because my family had one when I was in high school, but I have never had one myself.
I put “yes” for “driven a boat,” but I’ve only rowed / kayaked.
I put “no” for “been drunk,” though I have had alcohol, and have hit the point where it started to affect me (one pint of cider). I didn’t like that sensation, so I stopped—I don’t know if that counts as drunk. Mildly tipsy, maybe.
I can go back and change the poll answers if the consensus is that I should, since it’s a needlessly public poll. (Not that I really care, or I wouldn’t have answered at all.)
Oh, and I’ve smoked a couple of cigars in my life, but never a cigarette.
Cannot believe you included "some of their bathroom in the house ", but there you have it. That’s where it is.
I should have specified a motor-powered boat in the poll, did not intend to include canoe/kayak/raft. I don’t think you drive a kayak.
My intention for being drunk is the next tier beyond “tipsy”.
mmm
That’s how I read it, which is why I mentioned the fishing boat.
I’ve used Zelle and PayPal, but not Venmo.
Does it count if the captain gave you the wheel for a few minutes?
Heck yeah.
Then i won’t change my vote.
There are lots of things on the list that my wife hasn’t done. Much more than me.
PayPal is used in Japan, but not Zelle or Venmo.
There is an app LINE Pay in Japan and Taiwan that some people us. My wife uses it but I haven’t.
That’s was my assumption as well. We had a waterskiing boat when I was growing up.
I’ve been stung by bees, but even worse was when I apparently brushed off a Paederus rove beetle in Taiwan which caused rashes and blisters.
Nope Hot sauce, or at least cocktail sauce for me, TYVM.
The impetus for the license plate frame poll was I was with a friend this weekend; she had a new car. Her old car died when she was in MT, 2000ish miles from home so she was forced to buy a new car there. I then noticed that it had a license plate from her home state but the frame was from the dealer in MT, which means she had to remove whatever temp tag it came with & put her state’s plate on it; obviously she reinstalled the dealer frame when doing such. It’s one thing to leave one there but if you have to remove it I wondered how many people would put it back on (none).
Does driving a boat mean there’s a wheel or one is just operating the motor? My last time in a boat was < 2 wks ago. I was on the tiller of our new (FD) Zodiac rescue boat for operator training so I was in control of a motor boat, just operating it with tiller steering rather than a wheel.
On the human-powered side, I own an inflatable kayak, & have paddled other kayaks, row boats, canoes, dragon boats, shells, & stand-up paddleboards.
Did I? For me it reads “some other bathroom in the house”. Did I make this egregious pseudo-typo and the mods corrected it?
No, the typo is mine! Sorry about that, I was complimenting your inclusion of a category I though would not be included.
tl;dr: my bad, sorry.
I once drove through Las Vegas, but didn’t stop.
I have walked through a casino, but didn’t gamble.
I have never been drunk. I have been stoned on laughing gas in a dentist’s office.
When I was a kid, my family had a video game console, but technically, my parents owned it.
