Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

I eat the same thing for breakfast until I either get tired of that thing, or run out of that thing, whichever comes first. The number of days it takes until that happens varies, but I picked 4 because I estimate that to be about the average.

It doesn’t have to be the same two days every week, you know…

Mostly, I have wholegrain toast, milk, and a banana. Occasionally, I don’t. So < 7 days / week, but the average is probably above 6.5 days / week, and I rounded up.

Mostly, i have the same breakfast every day. Except I’m away from home a lot. The answers are just structures wing to make sense for me.

If I’m home, it’s cereal the vast majority of the time. I’ll eat one box, start-to-finish, then I’ll grab a box of a different cereal & eat that box start-to-finish, then third box, etc.
Cereal is purchased on sale & stored on a rack in the basement; they’re put on on the right side & taken from the left in a FIFO inventory method. If it’s a fourfer deal of Quaker or Kellogg’s or ___ i will get a couple different varieties & make sure that no two of the same go next to each other so I don’t get sick on one particular kind

I eat dry cereal* (lactose intolerant) , with prunes most days. But if the wife has some nice fresh bananas, like today- I eat a banana instead of the cereal.

If I have both yogurt (plain, whole milk) and fresh blueberries sometimes I eat that. But pretty much always 4-5 prunes.

*Frosted Mini-wheats or Special K with blueberries.

And I ordinarily rinse some berries and put them in my cereal bowl, then add a quarter cup of raw oatmeal, and a quarter cup of a particular brand of grain-free granola, and fill the bowl with milk up to the blue line.

Your custom of working through some cereal and then starting on a new cereal strikes me as absolutely ordinary. I could see myself doing that.

What I really meant was, who eats the same thing exactly two days a week, and eats other stuff on every other day? That just seems like an odd choice.

If I didn’t include that permutation, I am 100% certain someone would feel left out, and whine about it.

I’m whining.

I think it’s just set up wrong. Like, “do you usually eat the same breakfast every day?” “do you usually eat the same breakfast every day you are home?” “do you usually eat the same breakfast every day you go to work?” “do you have a special breakfast you eat at least weekly?” would all have been perfectly cromulent choices. I’m sure there are other options that would make sense to add to those.

The only edit I would make now would be, “In a typical week, how many days do you eat the same breakfast?” Getting too granular with home or away just opens the door for dozens of other qualifiers specific to everyone’s habits. I prefer to keep it simple.

I eat what they give me. Hospital food is boring.

I’m going to whine also.

I’ve got several things I eat for breakfast, and may eat one of them for a while and then switch either briefly or for quite a stretch to one of the others. I don’t keep track of the frequency of the switching, except that I know that it varies. The poll as written seems to assume a regularity that, in my life, doesn’t exist.

That varies too –

Nonetheless, polls that attempt to be all things to all people end up revealing nothing of interest.

My average is probably 3 days a week eating eggs and toast. Most of the time that’s what I eat but sometimes I don’t eat breakfast

Roughly four days a week it’s peanut butter + banana on a slice of bread, two days a week eggs & toast, one day a week a smoothie. I wasn’t sure how to answer the poll, so I didn’t.

I could see that based upon schedule; especially for a hybrid worker. On days ‘Joe’ goes into the orifice, he stops & picks up breakfast from some fast food/convenience store, with a rotation, so Mon is Mickey D’s, Tues is Wendy’s & Thurs is convenience store. On days he works from home it’s cereal, except for Friday mornings after the bar on Thurs night, then it’s coffee & aspirin. On Sat he cooks a full English, & on Sun it’s breakfast out with the regular group of family or friends.

Bah humbug! Breakfast is for well adjusted, healthy, happy types, not depressed misanthropes like myself!

I just find it doesn’t work for me, I’d rather have fewer, larger meals, and breakfast is easiest to skip, even though pretty much all my research says I’d be better off eating a moderately early, and smaller meals especially in the evening/night. Now that I’m back to a reasonable amount of daily morning exercise I may have to change that, but… probably won’t.

Most days, I’ll have a slice of Big Dave’s organic raison bread. Some days, I’ll have an English Muffin and some bacon and onion jam (yum!). Some days, I’ll have a cup of yogurt.

So, you’re saying that bread is your “raison d’etre” as it were?

[ I’m sure @Maus_Magill will correct this, spoiling my fun ]

Hey man, spelling is not my fort.
