Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

That’s true, i have a set of summer shirts and a set of winter shirts in my regular rotation. Plus a few over shirts that i wear when i might want to change how much I’m wearing during the day. Plus some formal wear, of a few different flavors. Also, i like to do laundry every other week, so i need more of each item than Frodo. And i sometimes go through more than one set of clothes on a day if i do something sweaty.

And then there’s my collection of souvenir t-shirts, and old stuff that i never got around to throwing out.

I rotate my shirts (put away clean shirts on left, wear from right) so I know I wear them all. I have too many, but only because people give them to me: I buy maybe one shirt every five years.

I suspect local climate may influence the amount of clothes one owns, I don’t need “summer” and “winter” clothes, I use the same clothes in every season. In winter I put on a T-shirt, a sweater and a jacket above and in summer I use the t-shirt and the jacket, the t-shirt and the sweater or just the t-shirt depending on the weather.

Another thing that probably helps me get on with less clothing is my profession, since I work as a programmer (and mostly from home at that) I don’t need formal clothing (programmers “formal” clothing is jeans and a t-shirt), I used to own a suit and formal shirts and ties, because at first Argentinian programmers were more formal but fortunately we’ve joined the rest of the world’s IT community in that regard.

Finally it seems that I discard unused clothing far more readily than you do, between my wife (who throws out beloved clothing when it’s worn out, despite my protestations) and my mum (who takes unused clothing to give to the poor) I don’t keep unused clothing for long.

If I’ve got schwarzwälder kirchtorte, I can tolerate any amount of pedantry.

Yes.

I thought it was interesting that yes on pedantry and no on pedantry percentages were equal when I voted.

But, goddamn, I love Black Forest Cake. I’ll vote for it every time.

I think if you said “long pig” instead fewer people would have voted for it. I think they just saw “bacon” and didn’t see anything else.

I’ve lost 70 lbs over the last year and a half, so I’ve a ton of clothes that no longer fit. I’ve been donating them on a regular basis, but this is an easy process for me (they pick it up and take it away). I have a lot of quality clothes with a lot of life still in them, so I know they’ll fly off the racks at their associated thrift store.

Yep, dress shirts, ties, dress shoes, sport coats, etc. Just gathering dust. And stuff that no longer fits.

I probably have at least 100 t-shirts. And yes, I wear all of them.

So do I. And each one represents a live concert I’ve attended.

Mom died a couple years ago. At the time of her death I lived about 25 miles from her but I still worked in the same town she lived in so I would drop by often.

Good. Because it’s Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.

Since I moved out, I’ve lived on the other side of the North American continent, or on an entirely separate continent.

I mean, unless you eat in in a Freiburg church.

I have at least 100 Hawaiian shirts.

I have a good bit of clothes, though I only wear about 20% of the total.

First off, I have 20ish articles of “garb” from my SCA days. They’re far too nice (most hand sewn) to toss, and I often used them for work “theme” days or Halloween, because they’re awesome.

Then there’s another 20ish pieces of clothes for in-the-office full business mode work, but I haven’t needed them in years, but again, might need them again, hopefully soon.

Otherwise, I live in Colorado, so 10ish t-shirts, 3-5 pairs of shorts (jeans, kakhis, exercise), and a half dozen pairs of jeans. A lot of long sleeve shirts (12+), a lot of +1 layer shirts including many flannels, a couple of sweat shirts, a couple of “nicer” going out layers. 3-4 coats and jackets of varying thickness, several hats, 2 pairs sneakers, one pair motorcycle boots, a pair of wet-snow fugly boots, 2 pair dress shoes.

And then another 10ish pieces of clothing bought for me as gifts: Willey’s Wonderland Shirt, Schock Mercenary shirt, you get the point. I don’t wear them because they’d get faded/worn/stained, but still there.

Oh, and the 20-30 pieces that yeah, I should get rid of, but now I think since I’m losing weight I can get back into them.

I copied it from the pedantry poll !

I forgot about shorts!, add about 6 pairs of shorts to my list.

At once?

It’s possible

Discourse was better than vbulletin until it quit working with my computer. Didn’t vote.

VBulletin was better with codes.

How have so many of you not seen My Cousin Vinny???

Maybe some of them are yoots.
