I selected Tuesday, because Tuesday is the day that everybody goes to the office, which means the trains are crowded. So I’ll stay home on that day, and enjoy the emptier trains on the other days.
Before the pandemic, i was allowed to work from home one day a week. I picked Monday.
It was probably relevant that we had “flex space”, and i had to book a desk for every day i was in the office. By booking the same desk 4 days in a row, i could leave my laptop and other crap there, and not have to carry it back and forth, and set it up and break it down every day. (Yes, i truly hated that, it’s a major component of why i retired early, and an now applying for wfh jobs.)
Being home Monday also let me sleep in a little after the weekend. And the Friday commute, when most of my co-workers and many others in the area, worked from home, was really easy.
Most of my career I worked a 4 days on 4 days off schedule. For about 7 years I worked 4 days on 3 days off. I picked that I preferred Friday but really it didn’t matter much if I had off Friday or Monday. Some guys preferred having Wednesday off because it broke up the work week. That wasn’t bad but I would still rather have Monday or Friday.
I’ve never worked a 9-to-5, but Mondays are federal holidays in the US, so I either had them off or paid double time (except when working for myself), so that’s out. I’d rather not break up my week with Wednesday off, though that depends whether I’m jerking sodas (no issue) or putting together grant proposals (don’t want to lose momentum on a project). Fridays would mean a long weekend.
The marginal utility of a third day off after already having two is less to me than a midweek Wed
When I was a kid, my uncle was a police officer in Chicago and worked a weird schedule. He described it as two days off each week, with the off days shifted by one day each week. So one week he’d get Sat & Sun off, the next week he’d get Sun & Mon off, the week after that it was Mon & Tue, etc. It was years before I finally figured out that he was effectively working an 8 day week, with 6 days working and 2 days off.
But the question is about working remotely, not about days off. It’s still a paid holiday if you don’t work from home rather than not working from the office.
Cheddar cheese actually comes in white, or close to it. The other stuff is dyed.
Hot dogs: I like ketchup and mustard on mine. Brown mustard is preferable but it’s one of the few instances I’ll take that weird yellow French’s mustard. I don’t understand piling on so much extra stuff on the hot dog you might as well have left the hot dog out altogether.
Days in the office: we’re on hybrid working requiring only two days in the office a week. I shift my days in around depending on work needs, but I find Monday is the hardest day to motivate myself to commute in. But Fridays seem to be the least populated day in the office all around (which for me is an incentive to go in on Fridays.
(Also: “orifice”?)
Other subways: I recall Prague’s being pretty nice. Budapest’s, not so much.
I learned (from another Doper) that one goes to irk in the orifice; seems about right to me!
Undoubtedly, that person has cow-irkers.
It makes conditional sense to me. Historically, I went barefooted at home as much as possible, but I’m prone to minor food injuries, so my wife has strongly pushed for all shoes, all the time. Before that, again, barefoot… except in winter. Winter in Colorado is normally too cold for bare feet, and while I have some sock-slippers they tend to be too warm. And slip on slippers tend to make me trip. So plain socks is a compromise that doesn’t please me, but can live with.
Everyone’s needs and climate (and cheapness at keeping the heat at 67) can and will differ though.
Cash-wise, generally between $100-$200. Not so much from intent, but if we get cash for some reason (road trip or other travel, or cash from in-laws) we toss it in a specific location, and then use it for business that prefer cash (wife’s favorite pizza place), or for street festivals, like Territory days in Colorado Springs or (just got back from) the Pueblo Chile and Frijole festival.
I pretty much agree with the above, most commercial ketchup can be cloyingly sweet, but that can be a Plus when you’re dealing with an over-processed, tasteless dog you’d otherwise skip. With higher quality variants of meat-onna-bun, I like mustard, though a naturally sweet sauce works really well, fruit + pork is a common combo. So a quality natural ketchup that has some spices, ripe tomatoes and vinegar is fine, just no added sweeteners for me. Or my homemade peach habanero garlic sauce. And I’m still not going to complain if someone wants to pour Heinz over something, because sometimes it’s the taste of home, family, or youth that they’re enjoying, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
A few years ago, I had a 4 9’s and a 4 shift. I made sure to take the 4 as my first day of the week (it was Saturday, since I worked Sat-Wed). It made sure I had enough hours over the weekend for a full 10% shift differential, and the short day right after my weekend helped ease me into the week. Sure, a work-from-home is different, but still, having fewer hassles up front in a long week works for me.
I thought it was cow-Orkers, but that begs up the question, exactly how does one ork a cow?
It’s an HR thing.
I live in New England, so leaving the apostrophe off PATS is an act of regional celebration, not a grammatical complication.
I asked Google and was suggested several castration videos (did not watch! ). However it also led me to the original(?) thread here on the SDMB from 2002: How do you ork a cow? - #20 by sidle
I’m surprised how even that poll is right now. I expected

And
P

to be the leaders.
I think Pat should rethink this and get a horizontal sign. Didn’t vote.
