Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

What about in the woods, behind the bushes, in the field headlands well away from the produce, in your own back yard if big enough and out of public sight?

Yes, Mars, then Male .Also the alchemical symbol for Gold, iirc.

As for as bathroom tap water- remember- you are NOT supposed to rinse out out mouth after brushing your teeth. Just spit. The flouride in the toothpaste needs time to work.,

Just don’t check “only in toilets” to cover other appropriate places.

Eh, it tastes terrible. I’m not going to sleep with toothpaste in my mouth. My dentist seems fine with the quality of my enamel.

When I’m camping, i not only rinse my mouth after brushing, i use my mouth to rinse the toothpaste off the toothbrush, too.

I could have made a very long list. I intended to list “in the shower”, but forgot. I’m delighted to see how well “graves of your enemies” is doing. And, who the heck voted “pool”?

When we moved to our New England town almost 30 years ago there were not-infrequent water issues, mostly rust finding its way into the water, but also system flushes that turned the water brown for days. We ended up buying water from our local spring instead, and even with (many years later) an improved water system, the town water doesn’t taste as good. So, I don’t drink from the tap at all, even for making coffee.

If i had a “water is safe, but doesn’t taste very good” issue, i would use other water for cooking and to fill glasses in the kitchen, but I’d still use the bathroom tap for tooth brushing, pill taking, and midnight thirst quenching. I’m lazy, especially near my bedroom.

I wound up not checking anything. If you’re out in the middle of the ocean or a large lake or a wilderness river of some size with almost no humans for miles, you can piss in the water (and you’ll probably have to); but in general I think you should piss on land where the soil can filter things before they get into the water systems.

I voted for the graves of my enemies. I suspect many of may targets are going to be quite popular, and lines may form.

Quothe the Surf Punks:

The ocean’s nothing but a fish toilet.

Same answer when any question about going to protests come up. I don’t do protests. Doesn’t matter if I agree or disagree with the premise. I’m not going. There are many reasons that all boil down to I don’t wanna.

I probably wouldn’t attend the protest anyway, although I greatly respect those who do, but this time I have an interesting excuse. Next weekend is the annual Pumpkin Festival in my small town. This is by far the biggest event of the year here; many local businesses do the majority of their business for the whole year on those two days. Typically about a quarter million people come into town on Pumpkin Festival weekend, via the two small roads that serve the town. The traffic on PF weekend is horrendous, and I always make sure I am fully supplied so that I won’t need to leave the house between Friday and Monday.

I have visited your Pumpkin Festival, and it is utter chaos. It’s like a bunch of wild animals have stampeded through the town’s central square and left a trail of destruction in their wake.

My heating system and my cooling system are separate. I turn off the AC over the winter, to reduce the chance of critters nesting in the condenser. But i never turn off the heat. It’s all indoors, and i have a thermostat to turn it on and off.

I don’t think it’s come on yet, this season. But I’m not certain.

I turned the AC last week for a while to cool my house, people live in the southern hemisphere Steven.

PTO = Pacific Theatre of Operations (blame my wargaming on that one).

I turned on the heat a week or so ago and then turned it off again, not sure when it will go on next.

We lit the pilot for the gas fireplace, but I don’t think the house heat (electric) has kicked on yet.

September in Chicago is a special time of year when we have to alternate between having the AC on and having the furnace on. We probably had the furnace on for the first time about three weeks ago, but then had to run the AC again a few days later.

I’ve lit the wood stove today, does that count?

— there is also an oil burning furnace, which was also on briefly a few days ago (not at the same time as the wood stove, it hasn’t been anywhere near cold enough for that.) It has heating controls only. There’s one window air conditioner, which I need to get back out of the window.
